NASA Leader Raila Odinga MOURNS Laikipia Senator the Late GG Kariuki

JUNE 30, 2017

Former Prime Minsiter Rt Hon Raila Odinga has sent condolences to family and friends of Senator G. G. Kariuki who passed on earlier today.

“G. G. had a long career as public servant. He is part and parcel of the progress the country has made. His death is a loss to the entire nation and particularly to his people of Laikipia County, ” Raila said in Binary in Kuria East Constituency.

Mr Odinga said G. G. was a pragmatic politician who understood the perils and joy of public service.

Mr Odinga wished peace to the family and the people of Laikipia as they mourn the senator.

DENNIS Onyango
………………………………………………
Here is the interview the late senator did with StandardNews’s Chemweno:

GG Kariuki is the senator of Laikipia County. He entered into politics in 1959 when President Uhuru Kenyatta was not even a rumour. He has served all four of Kenya’s Presidents besides becoming the oldest PhD graduand from the University of Nairobi. He spoke to Brigid Chemweno.

You got Masters degree in International Studies, and now a PhD, yet you are also in politics – a very demanding profession. How did you manage to juggle between politics and academics?

Politics and academic development are interdependent. They do not necessarily conflict. Modern politics require educated men and women. A degree is bound to enhance thinking and vision of a leader. Although I have been in politics for many years and I now hold a PhD degree, I know that the most important thing is how you can apply the knowledge acquired to deliver.

For many people, active life ends at 60. What prompted you to go back to class at that age?

At 60 I was very active and went to class to study international relations with a view of internationalising my knowledge.

I believe that for one to remain in politics one has to catch up with what is happening in the world, and that for one to lead their constituents effectively they must have knowledge beyond their borders. I therefore wanted to know more about national politics and beyond.

How was it like being supervised at such an age? Did it ever feel odd taking directions from a lady professor (Prof Maria Nzomo), younger than you?

I believe that serious students do not have time to think about the age and gender of their supervisors. In my case the gender issue or age did not arise.

UoN Vice chancellor, Prof Mbithi, recognized you in his address and commended your achievement. How did you feel?

I was surprised by the commendation as there were many graduands. Nevertheless, I felt honoured and privileged for being singled out by such a senior and experienced member of the academia. I am most humbled and grateful.

Your thesis went through a rigorous defense before being accepted. Tell us how the process was like…

Any academic work, particularly at the PhD level undergoes a rigorous process. It goes through examiners and is subjected to systematic revisions and refinements including insertion of commas and question marks. My work was no exception. One has to be prepared for a strenuous process.

Why did you pick on international relations?

I chose international relations because I wanted to understand the effects of pre-colonial and post-colonial developments on Kenya’s foreign relations.

How do you plan to use your PhD?

PhD degree provides general purpose knowledge and you cannot avoid applying it in every day interactions. The degree has advanced my understanding and knowledge of politics both locally and internationally.

You were a student, and then joined politics, what influenced you?

Three main factors influenced me to join politics: One was my upbringing in the white settled areas (White Highlands) in a squatter environment where the Africans faced homogeneous problems.

Secondly, I attended the independent schools, where politicisation featured prominently in the curriculum.
Thirdly, I was involved in the independence movement at an early stage as the environment within which I grew was politically conscious.

You delved into politics in 1959 and you have remained relevant over the years. Not many politicians do that…

Politics, like religious ministry, is a calling. One must have passion in peoples’ problems and get involved in solving them. Many people have commercialised politics and manipulate the ignorance of their electorate to their advantage. If a politician is genuinely concerned with his peoples’ problems regardless of elections, then s/he is likely to last long.

You schooled before the State of Emergency when not many Africans were going to school…

On the contrary, many people desired to go to school, but there were no schools. For example, where I grew up in the 128,000-acre estate, there was only one school which was a makeshift structure put up by the squatters for the education of their children. However, higher education has always been one of the dreams of my life.

Where were you when the State of Emergency was declared in August 1952?

I was at Kiamwangi Secondary School in Gatundu (Kiambu District). On the morning of 20 October 1952, we woke up to find the school swarming with security agents. All the senior teachers were arrested, including the headmaster, Kioni wa Kah?g?. Since Kiamwangi was not far from Gatundu Centre, we also came to learn that Jomo Kenyatta had also been arrested.

That morning we were told that the school had been closed. Lorries were packed in the compound ready to ferry us to our respective homes. My reaction was anxiety to go back home and join my family since I was still very young to speculate on what was happening.

Later, I came to learn that the school had been set ablaze especially the administration block, the dormitories and the carpentry workshop where the authorities suspected we were manufacturing guns. My family members were already in the independence movement and they did not see this as a big deal.

My father even remarked that many people would die in the struggle. So, I took up the chores that were befitting a young man of my age.

You have served in all Kenya’s regimes. How was the feeling like? Which one carries fond memories and why?

Yes I have served in all the post-colonial regimes. Each regime operated under its own unique local and international environment. Therefore, each regime was different and generated its memories for all people.

You were a patron of tae kwondo association for long…

I was Patron and Chairman of the Tae Kwondo Association of Kenya for many years and also became Vice-President of the International Tae Kwondo Association.

I served as Patron because this is a sport I didn’t want to see die. However, I resigned when I realised I couldn’t accord it enough time as I would have wished. I played Tae Kwondo up to Black Belt, Second Dan.

How many more years do you have before you exit political scene?

Politics is a lifetime calling as it involves service to the people. Elective politics is however determined by the electorate who decide the capacity in which one is to serve them or exit the political scene. I respect the wishes of the electorate.

To Facilitate Rigging, Uhuru Creates New Districts in North Eastern, Bungoma and Baringo, AP Police deployed

With only 39 days remaining to the much hyped August 8th elections, the Jubilee administration has established new administrative units including eight sub-counties, a number of divisions and locations across Kenya.

Bura East, Tiaty East, Kotulo, Oloililai, Elanga’ata-Wuas are among the latest new sub-counties created by the interior ministry. Others are Bananey, Tongaren and Igambang’ombe.

This unexpected turn-of-events has been received with shock by residents of Northern Counties of Wajir and Mandera, many questioning the motive behind the move just days to the general elections.

In Wajir County, Bananey was declared a Sub County by the Interior Minister Joseph Ole Nkaissery with its headquarters to be in Sarif town , attracting dismay from a section of the Ogaden community.

Residents have squarely put the blame on a powerful leader from the area, accusing him of using his office and political connections to create more locations within his backyard only.

“We know the invisible hand behind this dubious scheme. He has created 6 locations and 6 sub locations for his Maqabul sub-clan of the Ogaden community ignoring the other sub-clans,” a visibly angry Suleiman Hassan Noor told Wajir Chronicles by phone.

“During President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to Wajir he gave instructions that Diif, Korondile and Hadado should be made the new Sub Counties. This is blatant insubordination of the presidential directive that will likely lead to disharmony among communities and people that have lived together for long,” he reiterated.

During the Presidents last visit to the county, in a bid to woo more support for his Jubilee Alliance, he had announced that the three divisions will be fully upgraded into Sub Counties.

Many are now perturbed by the sudden emergence of Bananey ahead of the other much more developed and bigger divisions. Diif is mainly inhabited by the Mohammed Zubeir sub-clan of the Ogaden community.

Many residents of Diif, Korondile and Hadado whom Wajir Chronicles spoke to have vowed not to support the ruling Jubilee government in protest of this blatant injustice, saying they now believe Raila Odinga’s constant assertions that Jubilee never fulfills its promise to Kenyans.

Local political pundits say the ad hoc creation of new districts is a continuation of the government’s political manipulation of local development which in turn undermines the impact of the extensive resources channeled through the districts and decentralized structures.

“The local administrative system in pastoralist communities is characterized by inadequate capacity, and the declaration of new districts has only exacerbated the situation,” said Mohamud Abdow.

A local politician, who requested anonymity, said this development has caused a sudden rift within the Ogaden community with Mohammed Zubeir sub-clan feeling over looked by this intentional snub of Diif in favor of Bananey.

“Most locations were proposed by local leaders and elders but were not taken and now this has been done selectively. To our dismay majority of the newly named locations belong to the Ibrahim Sub-Section of the Makabul sub-clan. This is outrageous,” he quipped.

Districts are referred to as sub-counties in the 2010 constitution which heralded a new national government administrative structure that replaced the colonial provincial administration.

In the Kenya Gazette, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery said he created the new administrative units with the approval of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The units, Nkaissery said, will enhance co-ordination of national government functions and service delivery at the grassroots.

On the other hand, Degodias are likely to gravitate wholesomely towards NASA and abandon Jubilee after Hadado and Malkamari in Wajir and Mandera respectively, were suspiciously overlooked.

For Hadado’s case, this is likely to be viewed by residents as a direct jab towards the opposition leaning incumbent Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, a Degodia himself and Raila Odinga’s point man in the volatile province.

“The few Degodia’s from the Mantaan sub-clan who inhabit Wajir West and support Jubilee will most likely abandon the ruling alliance after this blatant snub by President Uhuru’s government. Hadado is the biggest, the oldest and was at the tip of the pecking order,” said Abdow.

With elections slated for August 8th, Kenya has always experienced periodic, localized flare-ups that usually coincide with electoral cycles and decisions like this are likely to boil up emotions.

North Eastern’s clan factor plays a major role in bringing together the vast pastoral communities. Majority of the gubernatorial aspirants have come up with line-ups that appear inclusive and diverse.

This political deal-making has yielded a welcoming albeit superficial calm. A transactional electoral pact is a fragile base upon which to build a lasting peace, and Jubilee seems to have thrown this into oblivion with this latest announcement.

In Mandera, a section of the residents are reportedly planning to file an injunction with the courts of law to challenge the creation of locations in areas inhabited only by one community while ignoring the rest.

Degodias in Mandera are unhappy that Malkamari was by passed in favor of Kotulo.

“All locations created are within the Garre community areas, a scenario that has completely sidelined the Murules, Degodias and other corner tribes in the county,” said Omar Rashid Ali, a local analyst. “In Wajir where Degodias are the majority they were given nothing, while in Mandera they have been sidelined.”

President Uhuru’s party, steered in the region by parliamentary majority leader Aden Duale, is facing its toughest elections after opposition stalwart Raila Amolo Odinga teamed up with equally powerful partners Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Isaac Rutto to form NASA.

Many in the region view Nkaissery’s announcement a miscalculation that is destined to backfire and lead to massive walkout from Jubilee Alliance.

Under the new devolution system, the 47 counties run by governors and assemblies receive significant resources, giving them substantial patronage power but interference from the national government is said to constantly slow down their activities.

Uhuru The Last Person Who Should Talk About Corruption, Waiguru Confirms

Speaking in Kirinyaga yesterday, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto claimed that NASA was being financed by a cartel of corrupt businessmen who have been fleecing Kenyan taxpayers.

Ironically, they made this wild and totally unfounded allegation while campaigning for Anne Waiguru, who the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly has recommended be debarred from holding public office.

These allegations were repeated today in Embu.

We are absolutely delighted that the Jubilee leadership itself has placed the subject of corruption so forcefully on our national agenda. It is clearly just not possible for them to deny that such destructive cartels exist and are impoverishing our nation.

Corruption is unfortunately not new in our country. What is new is its breathless and unbounding scope in the last five years.

Such now is the reach, impact and “state capture” by these cartels, Kenyans have come to know how corruption directly leads to the skyrocketing costs of all essential commodities and plunges us into ever deeper indebtedness.

Unable to contain the relentlessly building anger of voters against Jubilee, and staring at electoral defeat in six weeks, Jubilee is now clutching at straws and trying to deflect attention from failures which hang around its neck like the albatross.

NASA has been in the forefront of putting corruption front and centre, joined by scores of other institutions and groups. As we stated in our Manifesto two days ago, corruption is a cancer in our society and a national security threat that exists as a result of impunity.

Addressing it starts where the buck stops, at the Presidency. Whatever corruption currently exists cannot possibly be laid at the feet of the opposition. NASA has no authority nor power to deal with it, not can it prosecute anyone. It is only this government which has abysmally failed at curbing corruption.

Kenyans are suffering acutely from multiple woes which only government can cure BUT HAS NOT.

This failure is grave enough but to now turn corruption into a witch hunt against NASA shows how totally out of touch Jubilee is with reality and what Kenyans believe.

These accusations against NASA have nothing to with NASA, and no accusation has in fact been laid at NASA’s feet! There is no prohibition against political leaders meeting Kenyans and receiving assistance from them if they have no charges against them.

And while we appreciate the support we receive from many people, NASA is not receiving large amounts of money from any one person.

We are supported primarily by taxpayers and contributions by party members and other supporters, including businessmen. If there is evidence against any of these supporters about alleged crimes committed, including on as the Anglo Leasing scandal, why has that person not been charged in court, as has Deepak Kamani and James Magari, among many others?

Indeed, so many other implicated senior officials such as CSs were not prosecuted but just asked to leave office.

Kenyans know that billions of shillings of public resources were looted. There long list includes the NYS, the Sh5.3 billion Afya House scandal, the Eurobond and the Chickengate scandal.

The last struck at the very heart of our democracy and yet its architects roam free while their counterparts in the UK have faced justice.

In recent months, especially in the face of mounting hunger and anger over high food prices, scores of elected leaders have abandoned Jubilee and joined NASA, turning a number of former Jubilee strongholds into swing regions, knowing that Jubilee is thoroughly discredited and will not form the next government.

What is at stake here is, whom do Kenyans trust to fight corruption, but even more important, make food affordable, unite Kenyans into one nation, attend to pressing needs in healthcare, housing and education. Jubilee

NGUNYI: Why the fake Lion of Dagoretti “SIMBA ARATI” is scared of the Incoming fearless lioness “BEATRICE ELACHI”

By Charles Ombati
If elections in Dagoreti North Constituency were held today, Jubilee’s nominated Senator Hon Beatrice Elachi aka Mama Dago, would beat the incumbent MP ODM’s Simba Arati by a huge margin. Those are the words of renowned top political connoisseurs professors Mutahi Ngunyi, Herman Manyora and emeritus Barrack Muluka.

Although the three distinguished professors gave differing views on the Dagoretti North race, they agreed unanimously that Elachi will demonstrably beat Arati like a talking drum by 8am. The three were speaking to The Star journalists who paid them an impromptu visit at Professor Ngunyi’s office in Upper Hill.

For Mutahi Ngunyi, the Dagoreti North race will be a tribal race and the candidate from the tribe with the majority who in this case are Luhyias, will carry the day. That gives hon Elachi an upper hand.

According to professor Herman Manyora, NASA made a blunder by fielding two strong candidates.

There is word making rounds on social media that hon Arati said he is comfortable with Luo and Kisii votes and that he is no longer interested in the Luhyia vote. Remember Senator Elachi is pure Luhya, forget about cheap rumors being peddled by her opponents that her father is Luhya and her mum Kikuyu. I know the lady from when she was young. I know her parents well. They are both pure Luhyas. you see, Elachi is a woman of unparalleled integrity. She is she is bilingual and can speak up to 6 local languages. Her fluency in Kikuyu confuses many including Hon Simba. The distinguished lady speaks Taita so perfectly than even the Taitas themselves you know” Said Professor Manyora.

You see in 2013 polls, Arati was elected by Luhyas in ODM and not Kisiis. Arati is Kisii but Kisiis are the minority. According to IEBC register, the total number of registered voters in Dagoretti North is 148710. Out of this, Luhyas have the highest number of registered voters totaling 74000 followed by Kikuyus with 40000. Kisiis are distant third with a paltry 16018 and Luos 6377. In Dagoretti. Now, here is how Elachi will win. Dagoreti North race has two NASA candidates that are equally strong. There is ODM’s Simba Arati the incumbent and ANC’s Shilibwa” Said Ngunyi.

Suppose the two NASA candidates divide their votes, the Kikuyu vote will determine who carries the day. In this case, Kikuyus will only vote for a Jubilee candidate who happens to be madam Elachi. Remember even as NASA divides his votes, there are more than 10000 Luhyias who shall vote for Elachi as an individual and not necessarily for the party” He added.

Suppose out of the 40,000 Kikuyu vote, 30,000 come out to vote for Elachi assuming she’ll get approximately 10,000 votes from Luhyias in NASA. That will total 40,000”
“On Arati, he is on record saying he does not want the Luhya votes and as a result, many Luhyas are disappointed in him. Assume 10,000 of the 16,000 registered Kisii voters turn out to vote for him. Of course there are those loyal ODM Luhyas who will vote for him. Let us say they give him 7,000 votes plus approximately 4,000 Luo votes. He will slightly surpass the 20,000 mark
” He concluded.

I think the only thing I can say is, the Lion of Dagoretti North is scared The lioness has already beaten him.” Concluded Emeritus Barrack Muluka.

LAWYER Edwin Sifuna PUNCHED DP Ruto so hard, Hon Sakaja NEUTRALIZED before Campaigns hits Crescendo

“William Ruto has No moral authority to talk about moral authority”- Edwin Sifuna the advocate

Brushing shoulders on a regular basis with the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga is a privilege enjoyed by few. Becoming his political protégé while in your early 30s, sharing stage with him on his big day and cracking jokes on the podium in front of international media glare is an even bigger privilege.

To me, Senator Edwin Sifuna presents the brightest political prospect to emerge out of Western Kenya since Ababu Namwamba and one hopes he will not be consumed by political temptations and greed that we see wasting people like Eugene Wamalwa, Rashid Mohammed and Ababu Namwamba.

Mike Sonko BOYCOTTS Nairobi Governer Aspirants DEBATE

Mike Sonko and Peter Kenneth are not attending the Nairobi governor aspirants’ debate taking place at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The Senator (Jubilee) and former Gatanga MP (independent) will face candidates including incumbent Evans Kidero (ODM) and Miguna Miguna (independent) in the August 8 general election.

Sonko sent his running mate Polycarp Igathe but he was told to leave the podium as the debate is strictly for county chief candidates.

Kenneth did not send anyone to represent him and it was unclear why he did not show up.

Discussions focused on issues affecting Nairobi, with Kidero’s rivals reiterating they can do better than he has.

On corruption, the Governor said aspirants should stop pointing fingers at him instead of offering solutions.

“Corruption is a national issue…people pointing fingers at me should stop,” he said, noting they have taken action against the guilty.

“We have fired more than 300 people. It is easier to point fingers because I am the Governor…I have a job…they are looking for jobs.”

He responded to claims by Miguna and aspirant Godfrey Wanyoike that he has caused the county to go bankrupt.

Other issues city residents have complained about include poor construction that has resulted in the collapse of buildings and deaths and the traffic and garbage collection menaces.

Nelson Marwa, womanizer, beated by wife, now hospitalized

Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa is recovering from multiple injuries after being assaulted by his wife last night.

Marwa, a rowdy government official with a penchant for petty quarrels, is being accused by wife for infidelity.

According to reports appearing on social media, Marwa lodged a case at Mombasa Central Police station of wife battering with investigations now launched. We could not independently verify if the wife has recorded a statement.

Marwa’s wife Elizabeth Njoki  accuses her husband of infidelity and infertility.

“He is good at dating people’s wives but he cannot impregnate me. We have been in the marriage for fifteen years now, and I have no child. He should respect me because I have accepted his situation and stop moving around with other women,” said Njoki.

”Mr President, This is WHY Raila Will Win August Election”- Onyango Oloo tells Uhuru

By Onyango Oloo

Recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta called on Raila Odinga to concede defeat if Jubilee wins the August 8th elections.

It was a clever propaganda ploy whipping up his supporters to prepare for his second term and apparently putting NASA on the “defensive” because Raila and his colleagues have been ratcheting up a scenario of an intricate plan to by Jubilee to rig the outcome using the IEBC, the state machinery and even the police, paramilitary and armed forces. Interior minister Nkaissery and other security big wigs have even gone ahead to map out the presumed hotspots- most of which fall in NASA strongholds.

The pro-government pundits have been preparing the country with the story that NASA wants to postpone the elections or even arrange for a post election regime because NASA fears that Jubilee will actualize their 70+1 boast when it comes to the eventual electoral outcome.

But going by developments on the ground both in Jubilee areas and NASA strongholds, the Uhuru-Ruto projections are counterintuitive and contradict the actual trends.

First of all, the ruling regime is in a big mess in their Central Kenya and Rift Valley bases. Thanks to the ill-advised decision to run two election campaigns in 2017-the upcoming battle of Uhuru to get an elusive second term and Ruto’s dream of taking over in 2022 – Jubilee has shot itself in the foot.

This is most evident with the emergence of strong independent candidates who are convinced that they were rigged out of the recent Jubilee nominations through the nefarious calculations of William Ruto and Mwangi Kiunjuri to lock out those likely to stand in the way of Ruto’s 2022 dreams- people like Kabogo and Peter Kenneth have come out and boldly stated this-Uhuru faces a situation that his vehicle Jubilee, may not have enough representatives in the National Assembly, the Senate and the County Assemblies. This must indeed cause many a sleepless night for Kamwana and Arap Singh .

When it comes to the Rift Valley which was assumed to be even more solidly pro-Jubilee than Central Kenya, cracks have emerged all over the vote rich, expansive region. In the first place, Gideon Moi although he has pledged to back Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 is still insisting he will vie for Presidency in 2022, when Ruto expects to be crowned. The KANU popular base in Baringo and West Pokot is shifting towards NASA with devastating consequences for Jubilee. The fact that Buzeki has refused to step down and the Kalenjin conspiracy to lock out Okwara from Turbo is a foretaste of a possible election flare up on ethnic grounds in Uasin Gishu.

Elsewhere in the e the myth of ethnic solidarity among the Kalenjin is falling apart as the Keiyo, Marakwet exposing the much vaunted “tyranny of numbers” for the fiction that Mutahi Ngunyi created. On top of that, Isaac Ruto bolting to become the fifth principal in NASA was definitely not in Jubilee’s plans because a big chunk of his supporters- and not just his fellow Kipsigis tribe people may veer towards voting for Raila Odinga.

In Meru, Peter Munya vying for Governorship on a PNU ticket is practically in NASA-as well as his acolytes vying for Parliament including some influential stake holders who happen to be friends of mine. And even the Jubilee supporters in places like Imenti are disgusted by the failed promises to set up infrastructures- events that led Uhuru Kenyatta to cancel scheduled tours in the area.

In Tharaka Nithi there are unconfirmed reports of the masses shouting NASA! when they are exhorted to reply Jubilee. In Kirinyaga County getting Anne Waiguru whose name is synonymous with corruption, theft and tenderpreneneurship when she is facing the experienced and popular
Martha Karua may come a cropper.

In Nyeri, the incident which happened during the Madaraka Day celebrations rubbed some people the wrong way-and not just because of that childish, amateurish snub of Raila. I am made to understand from reliable sources that that the outgoing Governor has prepared a speech in which he was going to acknowledge the presence of the NASA flag bearer-they are old friends with the Governor showing solidarity during the dark days of the Moi dictatorship when Raila was locked up in detention. I am told that out of sympathy and due to the long simmering tensions between the Nyeri and Kiambu elites, a section of Nyeri may decide to go NASA.

Moving away from the mess in Jubilee-when we go to NASA strongholds we see nothing but solid support for Raila Amolo Odinga . Even in Luo Nyanza , where there have rumblings following the shambolic ODM nominations, even the independents are vowing to cast their ballot of the
NASA flag bearer . And despite the FORD-Kenya, Amani and ODM internal rivalry in Western, one thing which is crystal clear Luhyias and Tesos have no time for Jubilee so Ruto should stop wasting government resources in useless trips to Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and elsewhere .

Just like Uhuru should forget about the Coast. The Dawidas, Mijikenda and other Coastal communities went out in large numbers to testify to the TJRC how Uhuru’s father, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and his sidekicks stole land in Taveta, Voi, Diani, Lamu and all over. They are anxious for NASA to get in so that their long standing historical injustices can finally be dealt with.

In 2013 Jubilee got a lot of votes from Mandera, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo . But these areas which are almost 100% Muslim, have borne the brunt of extra-judicial killings, torture and mistreatment under Jubilee’s so called war against terrorism -in reports documented by respected organizations like KHRC, IMLU, IPOA and
the state linked Kenya National Commission on Human Rights. Many of them are not likely to cast a vote for Jubilee-especially after Operation Usalama Watc h which targeted Somalis .

August 8th is an election for NASA to lose. There is no way that Jubilee is winning. NASA has learnt from Ghana and other places how incumbents rig elections and they are on a vigilant look out for any misdeeds, not just from Uhuru-Ruto but from IEBC and the state machinery.

But Jubilee may all along be planning a FASCIST plot to stay in power. From Ruto to Waiguru and other government top wigs they are afraid of being accountable for corruption, tenderpreneurship, Eurobond, NYS, Mafya, HustlerJet the 1 Trillion Public Debt, Al Shabaab Charcoal deal and other scandals.

It is NOT in their interests to LEAVE POWER because that is the only glue that they hang on.

What should NASA and democratic minded Kenyans do to forestall this?
I am aware that the Makodingos, Itunbis, Kiraithes and the NAS sleuths are reading this.

So I am NOT going to BROADCAST broad counter strategies in this blog.
All I will say cryptically is look at how the Burkina Be people forestalled the naked attempt by Dictator Blaise Compaore to sneak back in power after he was ousted in the historic West African land of Captain Thomas Sankara.

And from there, my beak is shut.

SHAME: President Uhuru Trying to Buy 2017 Presidential Votes Using Our Money!

President Uhuru Kenyatta is Trying to Buy the 2017 Elections Using Our Money!
By Dorcas S

The expression “make it rain” has evolved to become lingua franca for spending lots of money, not necessarily on strippers, but on everything and anything including drinks at the club, sumptuous dinners with a large group of friends and leeches, shopping and as used in this article, vote-buying gambits masquerading as “development projects” and “payments to IDPs” – these latter two by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

With the elections less than forty days away, the president is “making it rain” all over the country – with OUR money!

The man is going from one battleground region to another trying to buy votes using our tax shillings!

Consider the following presidential junkets of the last thirty or so days:

Kisii – KSh. 358mn (IDPs)
Nyamira – KSh. 472mn (IDPs)
Bungoma – KSh. 900mn (Pan Paper Mills)
Kisumu – KSh. 15bn (EABL)

And these are just the high-ticket examples of vote-buying by this administration. It is as crass and callous a campaign strategy as it gets.

In using the “bully pulpit” of the presidency including access to the national treasury to entice and lure voters to cast their lot in his favor, Mr. Kenyatta is abusing our collective intelligence and worse: Telling the voters in these respective regions that their votes are for sale – using their own monies no less or in the case of Pan Paper Mills (Webuye) and East African Breweries (Kisumu), riding on the coattails of private investors!

Is this the same man who has been in office since 2013?

One who has had time to initiate any number of “development projects” or “compensate the long-suffering internally-displaced persons” (IDPs) in areas other than his Mt. Kenya/Central and Rift Valley bases finally realizing that the people of Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira and Bungoma are Kenyans too – deserving of national projects and of compensation for the pain suffered during the PEV-2007/8 – one month before his re-election?

Sorry folks but that is pretty sh#$@y!

Even more aggravating is how his sycophants describe the pandering.

Words such “gracious”, “kind”, “man of the people”, “real deal”, “God-fearing” and a litany of similarly smarmy suck-ups pervade the social media pages of the president’s spinmeisters without any shame.

There is absolutely nothing gracious, kind or God-fearing about the blatant pandering this president is indulging in during these last days of the election cycle. What makes it worse is that the president’s toadies actually buy into his obvious play for votes in those areas.

The reality is that this flurry of activities by President Kenyatta and Jubilee, when lined up next to their other vote-getting ploys such as circling the wagons by accusing the opposition of “incitement” or turning Madaraka Day – a national day of unity – into an ethnocentric diss of the invited head of the opposition is proof-positive Mr. Kenyatta’s re-election efforts are on shaky grounds.

Kenyans should reject this shameless use of their tax shillings by President Uhuru Kenyatta to buy their votes – Period!!

HERE is the FINAL WORD on Raila NASA Manifesto Launch

By A S

Pomp and glare was not the objective of the NASA manifesto launch. As a coalition, we recognize that there is nothing humorous about Kenyans not having jobs.

A graduate, laden with HELB loans, who has looked for and not found a job over the past five years, is not interested in how bright the light at a podium is, but would like to know what their government will do to create jobs.

There is nothing funny about not being able to pay school fees for your children’s education; or seeing your relatives die because you can’t afford money to give them better medical care and yet relatives of those in power are awarded tenders to supply things we don’t need; or walking miles looking for Unga and yet the Deputy President tells you Unga is everywhere; or struggling to put food on the table for your family and yet Jubilee is saying Kenyans have a lot of money; or being laid off work because the company you are working for is closing down and yet your government insists that the economy is growing; or having to engage in prostitution to sustain yourself through college; or sleeping in the streets and eating from trash cans yet you are a graduate.

Folks, these are some of the problems Kenyans have had to endure over the last five years of the Jubilee administration.

I therefore commend NASA for not choosing entertainment as the objective of its Manifesto launch, but rather focusing on how to transform the lives of Kenyans and bring them the relief they urgently need.

As they have done throughout their campaigns, NASA presented a clear, concise, and realistic agenda that they will implement within the first 100 days of their administration and throughout their time in government to create jobs; provide food security; lower the cost of living; lower the cost of education; grow the economy; pay teachers, doctors, and nurses; provide proper housing for our men and women in uniform; and transfer wealth into the hands of Kenyans.

For those of you who were waiting to hear someone laughing when they tell you they will build 9 stadiums in 6 months and yet they have not been able to build 5 in five years; or giggling when telling you that they will create 1.3 million jobs annually, provide 12 months to 18 months paid internships to University and college graduates and yet they have not created the 1 million jobs they promised five years ago, you were turned to the wrong manifesto launch.

Deceit, deception, lies, and propaganda are not commodities that NASA sells. These are merchandise sold and traded by Jubilee. It’s only in Jubilee where when Nakumatt closing down, they say the economy is growing.

In NASA we only sell practical solutions to the problems that Kenyans face. Truth and honesty are our guiding principles.

The Media may give us blackouts, they may twist our words, they may lie about us. But at the end NASA will triumph because Truth will always dispel lies any day, and a people united can not be defeated.

Mambo Yabadilika.

Lawyer Edwin Sifuna and Esther Passaris’ Political Partnership Created in Heaven, Hon Sakaja and Shebesh Saaja CANNOT Match

By Phil Wesonga

Did you watch their choreography at the NASA manifesto launch?

The partnership of Edwin Sifuna and Esther Passaris for Senate and Women MP respectively is one that can potentially take Nairobi places and impact the life of ordinary Nairobian. I support it 100% and I hope that for once Nairobi will disregard tribe and parties to elect these two.

It will be such a welcome break to have someone in the Senate who not only understands and has practiced law but also knows and is ready to undertake the job description of a Senator.

With all due respect to Shebesh am afraid her presence in parliament for the last 10 years, first as an ODM nominated MP and later as the first Nairobi Women Rep has not helped anyone but herself and perhaps Mike Sonko.

Needless to say, both Edwin and Esther have solid history and impeccable credentials in the change movement and public service credentials in their individual capacities. Best of all, they have not been associated with any scandal!

Insulting the governor and hounding him at city hall or inciting hawkers and matatu operators to dump garbage at city hall has been what Sonko and Shebesh have come to be known for. Go to the hansard of either house and search Shebesh and/or Sonko and as a Nairobian you will be deeply disappointed to learn neither of these two crafted or supported legislation that directly impact the life of ordinary Nairobian.

The End Of Uhuru Jubilee Regime is PROPHESIED (1 Chronicles 22:8)

The reasons why UhuRutos’ regime must come quickly to an end are many: corruption, impunity, tribalism, hunger, thirst, unemployment, overborrowing, among others but most importantly the 2007 PEV… Blood, Blood of innocent protestors…, IDPs’ CRY and hence biblical reasons.

Watching people die of politically motivated violence, preventable diseases, and hunger is totally unacceptable before God.

This kind of violence takes three forms: First, by letting die of hunger (ugali) and preventable diseases, Uhuru violates both negative and positive duties of justice.

Second, by “tunakula nyama wameze mate,” they are systematically and deliberately killing our nationhood.

Third, by “they are not my/our people – they didn’t vote us,” they are applying the worst form of tribalism. It implies that others (not in ruling coalition/party) are excluded based on their ethical descent, hence they are none equal, they can’t get state jobs, and can even die or be killed.

I mean there is intrinsically in Jubilee regime some element of violence against life. All these elements are nothing but an official violation of human rights in regard to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

1 Chronicles 22:8-10 explains this: But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight…! Any reign that sheds blood is not worth enduring; its efforts or achievements are always marked by the bloody past and therefore not pleasing to God.

The next Kenya belongs to the very substance of nonviolence never to destroy or damage another person’s feeling of self-worth, even an opponent’s. We all need, constantly, an advance of trust and affirmation. Nonviolence advocates are individuals who actively promote the use of nonviolence in efforts to achieve social or political change.

Their advocacy generally takes the form of writing, speaking and/or organizing. Love of the enemy, or the realization of the humanity of all people, is a fundamental concept of philosophical nonviolence. The goal of this type of nonviolence is not to defeat the enemy, but to win them over and create love and understanding between all.

The explanation to David recorded in 1 Chronicles 22:8 came years afterward. It would have wounded David needlessly to have been told this at the time . . . Meanwhile, David possessed his soul in patience, and said to himself, ‘God has a reason; I cannot understand it, but it is well. For many, practicing nonviolence goes deeper than withholding from violent behavior or words. It means caring in one’s heart for everyone, even those with whom one strongly disagrees.

There are no blessings from a violent leader should expect from God. In fact, Job seeks curses from God if he did not practice righteousness, “if I have denied what the poor wanted, made a widow’s eyes tired, eaten my morsel alone, and not shared any with an orphan (for from my youth I raised the orphan as a father, and from my mother’s womb I led the window); if I ever saw someone dying without clothes, the needy naked; if they haven’t blessed me fervently, or if they weren’t warmed by the wool from my sheep; if I have lifted my hand against the orphans, when I saw that I had help in the city gate may my arm fall from my shoulder, my forearm be broken at the elbow for God’s calamity is terror to me; I couldn’t endure his splendor.” (Cf. Job 31:16-23).

If Uhuru and Ruto are just, this is their time to pray Job’s prayer without fear.

”President Uhuru is LYING, Proposed EABL Plant in Kisumu CANNOT offer 110k Jobs”

JUBILEE IS STRETCHING MANIFESTO CONTEST TOO FAR, @ 110K JOBS?

By P Wesonga

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, President Uhuru Kenyatta this morning announced “a record breaking new investment of Ksh 15 billion in Kisumu – a modern state-of- the art brewery by the East Africa Breweries Limited – on a fifty acre piece of land will create 110,000 jobs”.

That’s right, without batting an eyelid, he said the investment 110,000 new jobs! A good number to bait a disenchanted public

I know it’s the campaign season and Uhuru had to look for something to water down the NASA manifesto, what I do not seem to understand is how East Africa Breweries Limited – currently directly employing 1190 workers – will suddenly grow into the biggest employer in this part of the world and place 110,000 workers in its Kisumu factory payroll. Laughable and absurd!

To put it in perspective, Safaricom, which is the most profitable company in Kenya and with annual revenues that are just six times less that what the Government of Kenya collects, has a workforce of just about 3000 employees and less than 100,000 MPESA agents. Government of Kenya itself employs just 72,923 in the massive civil service via the Public Service Commission.

Thus, for the proposed new brewery in Kisumu, even if you look at the indirect supporting services within the supply chain, this number cannot reach 10,000. Mind you the factory itself is state-of-art meaning most production lines are automated with little human activity required. Uhuru speech writers cannot see the contradiction. So where will these 110,000 employees be working?

Jubilee has an obsession of talking big numbers but it’s in most cases it turns out to be all hype and zero substance. Endless public relations.

Stop lying to Kenyans..stop debasing our presidency and stop insulting the intelligence of people that you have subjected to so much suffering..stop it!

With #10MillionPlus Registered Raila Stronghold, Focus shifts VOTERS TURNOUT

By B Barazza
The gods have signalled finally that it is Raila’s turn to be president, put it differently; God has heard our prayers and He is guaranteeing to give us our country back.

For every move Uhuru tries to make to retain his seat, the gods dispatch another hurdle. Whether it is rigging at Bomas of Kenya (The Supreme Court dispanded that asap) or it is Al Gurair printing extra papers, launching of another beautful manifestor with unreasonable promises etc name it.

Now, moving forward, here is what Raila must do:

1. Drop the 10 Million strong slogan immediately, replace it with 99% Turnout. VOTER TURNOUT TURNOUT TURNOUT! There is nothing like 10 Million in this election, i mean there will be no 100% voter turn out.

2. Have a clear strategy to increase turnout in all NASA STRONGHOLDS counties, i have sampled some below with previous election turnout in percentages, this should be atleast 90% in the August polls;
a) Mombasa 62%
b) Kwale 72%
C) Kilifi 65%
d) Makueni 85%
e) Kitui. 85%
f) Machakos 84%
g) Kakamega 84%
h) Bungoma 86%
i) Vihiga 83%
j) Busia 88%
h) Kisii 84%
j) Nyamira 84%
k) Trans Nzoia 82%

Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto strongholds had a turnout of 91% on average in 2013 (may be stuffing of ballot papers? well, with Al Gurair printing be sure this will be repeated so better be prepared.

3) Each Coalition Principal should go camp at their home for atleast 1 week, rally troops, talk to them in mother tongue, incite them, take oaths…let them understand what this election means.

Governor Isaac Rutto has been doing this very well.

SHAME: Uhuru LIED about EABL Jobs in Kisumu Out Desperation to Overshadow REALISTIC NASA Manifesto

By Anwar Sadat
The Kenyan media is a big let down. They have moved from the fourth estate to the fifth estate, Joining Mutahi Ngunyi in propagating Jubilee propaganda rather than have thorough and objective reporting.

They know EABL wrote to the government, protesting higher taxes and they even threatened to close down their Ruaraka plant if Jubilee doesn’t streamline it’s tax policy. They know this was the subject of Uhuru and EABL meeting today, but that is not news to them.

Even the current EABL plant in Ruaraka has less than 10,000 employees but somehow, the Kenyan media wants you to believe that some factory will be built in Kisumu to employ 110,000 Kenyans!!

Meanwhile, somebody remind Uhuru that EABL is a commercial company and not government owned. He is not the company’s corporate communications chief and it doesnt matter if his family owns about 7% of the company.

Jubilee will fall on 8/8/17 even with the help of the Kenyan media.

Raila NASA MOURNS The Late Hon Isaiah Cheluget

MOURNING ISAIAH CHELUGET:

Former Provincial Commissioner Mr. Isaiah Cheluget passed on two days ago. I have had occasion to speak at length to members of his family to express solidarity and condolence following his death.

I have also offered my condolences to members of the Kipsigis community which he served as the chairman of the elders group. As chairman of the Kipsigis Council of Elders, Mr. Cheluget provided firm, honest and fair leadership, taking positions that were in line with the wishes of the community. His leadership will be deeply missed.

Mr. Cheluget has been like a father to me, in addition to being a great friend and an advisor on issues ranging from community relations, culture and politics. His death is a personal loss to me.

My prayer is that in his honour, we will continue fighting for the causes he championed in the interest of the community and the country.

I wish to assure Mr. Cheluget’s family and the Kipsigis community of my solidarity with them as we prepare to lay the veteran administrator to rest.

The Difference Between Raila NASA and Uhuru Jubilee MANIFESTOS

By Dr. Nana Busia

Nope, NASA and Jubilee Manifesto are not the same. Let’s break this down together.
28/06/17

1. NASA’s point of departure from Jubilee in their manifesto is that one needs a nation before you even start state building. Seek ye first a nation state and all things shall be added unto it.

Without A sense of a nation all economic development efforts will crumble on any slight shock. That is why NASA is very focused on national reconciliation and de-tribalizing Kenya’s political economy.

NASA therefore distinguishes state building as institution and legal architecture, from nation building as building an inclusive society. This is very important and only a Stateman can weave these. It’s when this is done that you get a nation state. In Kenya today, there is a disconnect between state and nation.

2. Both parties believe in the market or private sector. However Jubilee’s ideology of the market is called primitive capitalism. This Simply means one uses the state to accumulate wealth and become rich, its styled primitive because it is an unbridled form of capitalism. It aims at super profits. It stops at nothing during accumulation, not excluding killing persons that in the mind of such capitalist class those they see as obstacle to individual accumulation. Hence a lot of what is called political killings in Kenya’s political history: eg JM, Mboya, Pio G pinto, Ouko, Juma, Saitoti, Mumias sugar legal officer etc

In this case of capitalism the government breaks its own laws. What some scholars called rogue state. A government that breaks or openly undermine its own laws allows for mega corruption. Githongo has really educated us all on this with Kenyan case study.
This group always hold on tenaciously to state power lest others get a share of the loot or accumulation. They do everything to retain state power, any means. That’s primitive capitalism.

NASA on the other hand believes as social democrats in regulated capitalism. Market, private sector all have to adhere to some rules. Profit yes but not super profits from mega corruption at the expense of National Values, National Cohesion and National Wealth and Resources.

3. NASA has an approach of people centred development. Big infrastructure should all be people oriented. Some of jubilee infrastructure has no social linkages. But look for example at NASA’s pastoralist program (PALIMAP). Economic development under NASA is congruent with the social justice and national building project. That’s when you get what the UN and our constitution in article 10 calls Sustainable development.

4. NASA is consistent ideologically on the form of government Kenya needs. There is a marked difference between the two: Jubilee and NASA. One is for concentration of power at the centre and again there is a reason why:

Centralization of power is the sin qua non for primitive capitalist accumulation. It allows the party to control the resources and thus the political power. This is the reason that in Jubilee government, devolved functions still have 80% of the line ministry budget being spent by Central government on behalf of the counties.

A case in point is Medical equipment at the Ministry of Health. This birthed what’s now Mafya scandal and high debts per county without the requisite Human resource to even properly put to good use the equipment.
NASA wants decentralisation of political power and resource distribution. This has been well articulated by The PM for ages now.

NASA and Jubilee are very different. In summary; The People and The Process are as important if not even more important than the Projects.

Top Jubilee Operatives and Ababu Namwamba May Have STOLEN 1Billion on the Collapsed SIGIRI Bridge.

By Nelson Oduma
Top Jubilee operatives and Ababu Namwamba may have stolen a cool 1Billion sweat free on the SIGIRI bridge.

Let me enlighten my fellow slaves on how we have been robbed dry on the SIGIRI bridge.

~Fact:
The Sigiri bridge is roughly 100metres.and it costed 1.2billion Kenya shillings( $10.2m)

~Fact: Tanzania’s Kigamboni bridge 680metres (Longest suspended bridge in Africa) costed $136million. ksh.13.87billio
n.
~Sigiri: if you divide the 1.2 billion by 100metres, you will find that it costed the taxpayer 12 million shillings per metre, to construct a normall village bridge(sigiri).

~Kigamboni: If you divide the 13.87 billion by 680metres, you will find that It costed the TZ taxpayer 20.4 million kenyan shillings to construct one metre of 6 lanes and ksh 3.4 million to construct a metre of one lane.

*Note that the Kigamboni bridge is modern international standard bridge.

To Summarize:

A metre of the world class Tanzania’s Kigamboni bridge costed the Tanzanians taxpayer 3.4 million kenya shillings, while a metre of our precious SIGIRI bridge costed us 12 million kenya shillings.
>Kenya’s SIGIRI: 1metre Ksh. 12 Million
>Tanzania’s Kigamboni: 1metre Ksh. 3.4 Million

-And we wonder why China is giving us food aid when they have no land to produce the same food, yet we have all the fertile land and the best weather in the world.

-We wonder why we are importing Eggs from Romania, sugar from Brazil, Maize from Mexico, Rice from Pakistan, powdered milk from Netherlands among many others food produce yet we have the potential to produce all these and export the surplus.

– As long us we have the wrong leaders in office, Africa will continue plumenting to the lowest levels, #AfricaRising will only be alive in papers.
*We must stop electing thieves and misleaders.

”Uhuru is Worse than Raila, Failled to Compensate Kipsigis IDPs, We Will Vote for NASA”- Hon Mutai

Photo: Kuresoi MP Hon Zachayo Cheruiyot, will defend his seat on CCM party and promised to support Raila NASA

More than 2,500 Mau Forest IDPs have threatened not to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying they were left out of the resettlement process.

The internally displaced persons were kicked out of the forest in Kuresoi by the Grand Coalition Government in 2008.

On Sunday, they were left out of the list of those to be compensated in July as announced by Deputy President William Ruto.

Their chairman Robert Mutai claimed the Jubilee government promised to compensate them in 2013 but that this has not been done.

“DP Ruto has been laying the blame of forceful eviction on NASA leader Raila Odinga but we have proven he is worse than Raila,”
Mutai told journalists in Nakuru town on Tuesday.

Mutai said families living in Kipkongor, Kurpanyat, Kipkoris, Kipkongor, Saina and Kiletien camps lost their property when they were forcefully evicted by Kenya Forest Officers.

Officers burned their houses, they said, adding many are poor while others have suffered diseases that have claimed several lives.

“It is unfortunate that we have lost children, old people and pregnant women to cold-related diseases for almost a decade yet the government ignores us saying we are not genuine,” said the chairman.

Mutai added that DP Ruto, who hails from the region, remains quiet while President Uhuru dishes out money countrywide.

“He used to be a sweet talker but we are dying under his watch. He has ensured all Jubilee leaders from the region don’t talk about us. We have proof that he punishes those who dare to mention IDPs,” he said.

“We will not vote them. It is better for us to vote for Raila so we can come to a bargain with the help of Bomet Governor and CCM party leader H.E Isaac Rutto.”

Mutai warned they will soon hold street demonstrations against leaders in the ruling coalition.

Earlier in June, the President pledged that post-election violence will never take place under his watch.

He said this when handing over Sh470 million to integrated IDPs in Nyamira county.

SUMMARY of Raila NASA Manifesto, WHAT Raila Will Do in His First 100 DAYS, This is Inspiring and REALISTIC

By Protus Onyango and Moses Nyamori

The Opposition coalition has promised a radical shakeup of the governance structure and to run a transparent government that will not tolerate cartels if it is elected to power.

To win over voters 41 days to the General Election, the National Super Alliance (NASA) promised to introduce a plethora of changes in its first 100 days in office.

It promised to, among others, seek constitutional changes on the presidency, scale up allocations to counties, hire more teachers and overhaul the electronic payment system for Government contracts to prevent fraud.

If Raila Odinga is elected the fifth president of Kenya, NASA has pledged to sponsor constitutional amendments to provide for a hybrid executive system based on the Bomas of Kenya draft to replace the current system where the President is elected through a popular vote.

NASA has also promised to dismantle “crony capitalism” that it says is fueled by runaway corruption. “The convergence of corruption and trickle-down ideology gives rise to an economic model known as crony capitalism… NASA is not afraid of cartels,” the coalition states.

NASA pledges to do away with the multi-billion-shilling Jubilee laptop project and channel the funds to building computer laboratories and libraries in schools.

The NASA government will also employ 20,000 teachers annually to bridge the widening gap should they form the next Government. They promise to hire 90,000 teachers in five years.

INCREASE ALLOCATIONS

In addition, NASA promises to increase money allocated to county governments by up to 45 per cent. Specific details of the manifesto reveal that the amendments to the constitution will be based on the Bomas draft as a mechanism for enhancing cohesion and to allow individuals from smaller communities to rise to the highest office in the land, and encourage a participatory system of government.

While launching their manifesto at Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi, NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and other principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetang’ula and Isaac Ruto promised Kenyans that they would deliver on their promises.

NASA promises to devolve primary and secondary school infrastructure development as a function to the county governments in 100 days to enable the national government to concentrate on quality.

It promises to immediately implement free secondary school education and collaborate with county governments to expand secondary school infrastructure to accommodate the anticipated higher number of secondary school students.

It will also launch a national book donation initiative to promote a reading culture in Kenya. Still on education, NASA will, in 100 days, waive the requirement for compliance certificates for unemployed graduates and review the Higher Education Loans Board (Helb) repayment commencement period to 18 months after graduation.

NASA promises to waive interest payments on Helb loans for graduates who join the civil service, provide tax reliefs for employers who take in interns from Kenyan tertiary education institutions, and set a pay caveat for internships and eliminate PAYE for allowances/stipends paid to interns.

On security, NASA will begin to pull out the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) from Somalia in phases beginning the first 90 days and secure the Kenya-Somalia border. They will also assign one officer to every police station who is trained and equipped to handle police-youth relations in order to transform the relationship between the force and Kenyan youths, and also rid the force of “discriminatory practices targeting youths”.

It promises to collaborate with county governments and community leaders to develop mechanisms for inter-community dialogue aimed at peaceful resolution of conflicts among communities.

NASA will also institute a pay raise for police officers serving between the ranks of constable and chief inspector, and improve pay and conditions of service for KDF service personnel.

Also in 100 days, NASA will restructure and realign the National Treasury to enable it to effectively and harmoniously serve the interests of both levels of government and collaborate with the Council of Governors (CoG) to review the transition process and identify all the challenges on full transition and transfer of specific functions.

As the chairperson of the National and County Governments Co-ordinating Summit, the President will revamp the Summit by convening regular meetings to address emerging issues of co-operative government and inter-governmental relations.

NASA will work with CoG to clarify the constitutional distribution of functions and initiate legislation to clarify the functions of each level of government, provide a framework for assignment of additional functions to county governments and provide for a framework for the transfer of functions and powers from one level of government to another.

It promises to immediately transfer to county governments all those functions and resources that have not yet been transferred and eliminate delays in the transfer of funds to county governments.

GENDER INTEGRATION

The Opposition also promises to formulate a coherent devolution policy on health to govern the relationship between national and county governments in 100 days and provide for regulation and standardisation of doctors. NASA will also collaborate with CoG to provide a road-map for honest tripartite engagement aimed at resolving industrial disputes.

On gender, NASA will undertake integration in all Government processes and programmes, particularly in the allocation of resources, and establish County Gender Development funds under woman representatives in every county.

NASA will enact laws to implement the two-thirds gender rule in governance as required by the Constitution in order to address gender imbalance in all spheres of governance. They will also institute programmes such as grassroots science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Stem) girls’ clubs to sensitise girls and young women about their rights and opportunities in science and technology.

On corruption, all NASA members, appointed and elected, shall sign anti-corruption performance contracts requiring that they introduce and monitor anti-corruption initiatives in their sectors. Appointed and elected members will be prohibited from doing business with the Government and take moral and political responsibility for any misconduct in their dockets arising from non-performance.

The appointees and elected members shall avoid any conflict of interest between public and private affairs, and be expected to disclose their financial interests on appointment to ensure that there is no potential for personal benefit.

NASA will also declare corruption a threat to national security and establish a specialised department in the National Intelligence Service dedicated to corruption surveillance, and overhaul the entire IFMIS payment system and replace it with an incorruptible system that uses a Three-Way Match that will interrogate payments by matching the local purchase order, the delivery notes and the invoice.

In 100 days, NASA will officially reaffirm the status, nationality and citizenship of all minority ethnic groups in Kenya and their equal status with other Kenyans. They will establish a National Heroes Trust to immortalise freedom fighters and heroes of our current struggles, including our men and women in uniform, and support those in need.

NASA will also immediately pay compensation awards ordered by courts to victims of State injustice and allocate adequate resources to enhance the status of Kiswahili as the national and official language, and a continental language. It will also work with internet companies to develop content for Kiswahili speakers, particularly a comprehensive online Kiswahili dictionary.

In the same 100 days, NASA promises to establish the Kenya National Languages Council to promote all other Kenyan indigenous languages and Kenyan sign language, and also the “Office of Victims of Extra Judicial Killings, Torture, Renditions and Enforced Disappearances” to investigate all such cases and recommend appropriate measures.

DAY-CARE FACILITIES

They promise to enact legislation requiring all Government departments to establish day-care facilities in the work-place and to amend the Sexual Offences Act to establish a special investigative and monitoring unit under the Children’s Department focusing specifically on children in primary and secondary schools for purposes of protecting them, and implement all international obligations on gender issues.

They promise to collaborate with county governments to establish a Ward Development Fund and convene a national conference to set out the tenets of co-operation between national and county governments in the next five years.

NASA promises to restructure and realign the State Department of Devolution and Planning to focus more on inter-governmental relations and co-ordination of inter-ministerial functions relevant to devolution rather than supervision of county governments.

To improve housing and urban development, NASA promises to convene a national conference to bring national and county governments together to identify their potential and to develop a master plan for branding their counties.

It will also host a national consultative forum to seek ways of providing avenues and incentives for private sector involvement in the provision of affordable quality housing.

In 100 days, NASA will rationalise the operations of the Rent Restriction Tribunals to take into consideration the devolved governments by increasing the number of tribunals from 10 to at least 47.

It promises to establish more than one tribunal in the major towns/cities based on population clusters of 100,000, and amend the Rent Restriction Act to increase the jurisdiction of the tribunal from the current Sh2,500 to Sh10,000. They will also empower the Rent Tribunals to exercise their powers of regulating rent in their areas of jurisdiction.

IEBC UPDATE: Counties allied to Raila NASA have HIGHEST Registered Voters #10MillionPlus

Youth aged between 18 to 34 years-old account for more than half the total number of registered voters ahead of the August polls.

According to IEBC, the age group accounts for 9,930,315 valid voters from the total 19,611,423 registered.

Counties whose voting pattern leans towards Raila NASA have the highest number of registered voters with more than 10million (#10MillionPlus or so called #10MillionStrong). see official IEBC tables>>

“A total of 88,602 dead voters have been expunged from the register,” chairman Wafula Chebukati said on Tuesday in latest updates on the register.

The electoral agency boss said Kenyans will be able to check their registration status online or through SMS from Thursday this week.

The commission further revealed the register has a 47 per cent female representation and 53 per cent male representation.

“We are confident that the KIEMS technology will provide full proof identification on election day,” he said.

The commission received an audit report from KPMG early this month after a verification process was completed.

The report indicated the register might have more than a million dead voters although only about 92,000 were verified.

The firm also established that more than 17,523 passports used by some of the voters were inactive.

“The IEBC should work with the civil registrar to obtain details of deceased persons registered from November 2012 to December 2016.”

Gerald Kasimu, head of Information Technology Advisory Services, proposed this when he presented the audit report to IEBC.

Kasimu said they used data from the Civil Registration Department.

“We have established that another 5,427 records of voters do not have biometric fingerprint images,” he reported.

The official further said 2.9 million entries in the register of 19.4 million voters contain inaccuracies of dates of birth and gender.

Ahmednasir Abdulahi joins Al Ghurair tender case after Ksh50 million offer

In a shocking move that was totally unexpected, lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulahi will represent Jubilee Party alongside Fred Ngatia in a case in which NASA is challenging the award of ballot printing tender to Dubai based firm Al-Ghurair.

Abdullahi was seen as among a number of critical voices within the Kenyan elite who had cut links with the ‘mediocre’ Jubilee despite their fervent support for it in 2013. The last time Ahmednasir acted for Jubilee was during the 2013 presidential election case where he represented IEBC Chairman Isaack Hassan. In that case, Fred Ngatia represented Prersident Uhuru while Katwa Kigen represented Deputy President William Samoei Ruto.

A number of sources have told Kenya Today Ahmednasir met President Uhuru in the presence of Fred Ngatia and Solicitor General Njee Muturi where the President apologized for ‘neglecting’ him.

This writer has been informed that an instant amount of Ksh 50 million was offered, and taken.

Since 2013, frustrated by the hounding from the Judicial Service Commission, and badly losing an LSK election, Ahmednasir has been facing turbulence in his legal career which also included declining piracy money by well-connected Mogadishu politicians and Somali government and military officials.

Jubilee Party is not leaving anything to chance after losing a critical case at the Court of Appeal that quashed IEBC plans to set up a national tallying centre, with the IEBC Chair as the returning officer of the presidential vote.

With ballot printing remaining the main bone of contention between Jubilee and NASA, the stakes of the Al Ghurair case were always going to be high.

“His legal career was dwindling…since 2014, he has not ‘won’ any real case, furthermore, he lost a case on Tatu City to his former student (advocate) Nelson Havi. He badly needed this case to return to national notoriety,” said a lawyer who requested anonymity.

And as fate would have it, Jubilee Party was desperate to sign him in, considering he has been among the most vociferous critics of the regime online. At some point, Ahmednasir had to record a statement and briefly went to hiding in Australia, accusing CID boss Ndegwa Muhoro of plotting to kill him.

“The two are known to bribe judges for favorable rulings or judgements. It remains to be seen what trick they will pull but get it from me, this case won’t be decided on its own merits,” a source familiar with how Ngatia and Ahmednasir work in the judiciary intimated.

The case is to be heard by a bench of three High Court judges comprising justices George Odunga, Prof. Joel Ngugi and John Mativo.

Lawyers James Orengo, Paul Mwangi, Prof Ben Sihanya ,Jackson Awele, Celestine Opiyo and Ochieng Oginga are representing NASA while Kamau Karori and Milly Hodari are representing IEBC.  Waweru Gatonye and Benson Muchiri are representing Al Ghurair.

Some observers say Ahmednasir and Ngatia will bolster the ‘weak’ IEBC legal team. IEBC and Jubilee are pushing for Al Ghurair to print the 2017 general elections ballot papers, a move NASA has opposed because of the relationship between Al Ghurair and Jubilee actors.

Al Ghurair is also accused of its discredited past of printing excess ballot papers which have been used to rig at least two presidential elections in the African continent.

EXPOSED: Ababu Namwamba’s kickback link to collapsed Ksh1.2 billion Sigiri bridge

A firm owned by rebel ODM MP Ababu Namwamba’s cousin brother was single sourced for provision of consultancy service for design and structural engineering of the collapsed Ksh 1.2 billion Sigiri Bridge.

One Oliver Khabure, a civil engineer and proprietor of Interphase Consultants, was single sourced to provide structural engineering consultancy services and was paid hundreds of millions of shillings to design the bridge that has since collapsed after reportedly consuming more than a billion shillings in tax payer funds.

Khabure is Ababu’s cousin and it is through Interphase Consultants that Ababu is believed to have earned his own kickbacks arising out of the project which President Uhuru put on his hands to ‘supervise’ and use to gain political mileage against ODM and it’s leader Raila Odinga.

Sources intimate that the Mombasa based Khabure was used as front for Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba who presented his name to state House as one of the contractors and eventually tied him up to the project engineers the Chinese Overseas Group of Engineering Company (COVEC) when he hosted them at his Continental House office in mid 2015 when as PAC Chairman he started sanitizing Jubilee corruption and gravitating toward the government side. It was one of the rare occasions where a member of parliament is seen openly socializing with a contractor who is working for the national government.

Being the structural designer of bridge, Khabure directly bears responsibility for the embarassing and expensive collapse of the bridge which is likely the result of poor or inadequate construction material with bulk of funds being used to pay kickbacks to Ababu Namwamba as a easy way of funding his Labour Party to rival ODM in Budalangi and Busia.

An official government statement released by English John Mosonik purported to shift blame to COVEC but industry sources insisted contractors follow drawings and BQs prepared by in the initial stage by design Consultants. It follows therefore that any blame on the structural collapse should be shouldered 100% by Mr. Khabure.

Today Ababu Namwamba troubles have escalated after having been ejected in disgrace as PAC Chairman, ejected as ODM Secretary General and struggling for relevance with his Labour Party in Budalangi where has been mark-timing for one year supervising Sigiri Bridge construction.

Uhuru Jubilee MANIFESTO to NOWHERE, More Corruption, Thighpreneurs, Tenderpreneaurs, Tribalism, Unemployment, Insecurity, Hunger, Disease

By Jackson Omondi

In what can only be interpreted as a fitting metaphor emblematic of the national catastrophe that is the Jubilee adminstration, one of their signature ‘Maendeleo chap chap’ projects came down in a rather disturbing fashion. Luckily and by the grace of God, for the innocent citizens of Budalangi, there were no casualties. But in 42 days, political casualties will litter the country as the voters register their displeasure at those who pocketed a cool 1.2 billion shillings including the local bloviator who sang himself hoarse over a project that was not only inflated by way of cost, but rushed for political expediency.

This political carnage occurred on a day that Jubilee misleaders gathered at Kasarani to launch their new set of empty promises. And boy, I must say that as one who puts together political scripts, those tasked with scribbling Jubilee’s so called manifesto had the uneviable task and misfortune of attempting to sanitize one of the worst records in history.
Save for the comfort of pocketing fat taxpayer-funded cheques, this must have been a herculean endeavor. Let’s plough through the political montage that inundated the people of Kenya for close to three hours.

Without batting an eyelid, the president claimed that thanks to his adminstration’s policies and future plans, the ‘Somali’ community were now better off than they were four years ago. And for specificity, he singled out issuance of IDs as a key ‘achievement.’ What he didn’t say was that his adminstration is the most anti-islam adminstration in the history of Kenya. Imams have been methodically eliminated in broad daylight while young men and women together with children have been bundled and stashed away in that very Kasarani that he was speaking from. Leaders like Governor Joho have openly been humiliated and bullied by state agents. To muslims around the country, watching him deliver that statement on Eid must have felt like a sick joke.

Another statement that rivalled a skit in a comedy show was the declaration that they are going to ‘build’ one industry in every county. Yes, they went ‘there.’ Kenyans are still waiting for the state-of-the-art stadia in marquee counties. But that’s besides the point. When the people of Kenya hear the word “building” coming from Jubilee, all they see are the numerous mega hotels being bought by the DP at every corner of the CBD in Nairobi while their own personal finances are in shambles.

They promised to create 1.3 million jobs per year and then delivered what could only be bought by a tourist from Mars – they have been creating 800,000 jobs per year! As a function of Jubilee’s terrible economic policies, banks have been reducing headcount, Supermarkets are going out of business and taking food off the tables of their employees, media houses have followed suit, the entire private sector is struggling thanks to state interference. The list is endless. In short, the 1.3 million jobs per year is a good bedtime story but flies in the face of reality.

The comedy didn’t end there, they actually doubled-down on the issue of education by claiming that day secondary schools will be free. This would be believable if it came from an administration that did not preside over record school closures and shortened school calenders just because they refused to honor the teachers’ wishes!

The talk about food security stung the most. Here was a president talking to a hungry nation about his plans for the next five years, yet, the people of Kenya can’t find Unga to feed their children much less feed themselves! It was a demonstration of chutzpah and sheer nerve.

In the end, those tasked with writing today’s empty and insulting promises tried their best to sugarcoat Jubilee’s pathetic record in order to eke out a more sunnier narrative with all manner of goodies and none-existent accomplishements. Not an easy feat. Unfortunately, the political mosaic left Jubilee looking like a clown in suspenders with a belt on.

…and Jubilee Manefesto Launch Looked like a FUNERAL, terrible colour mix and DP Ruto Extreme Lies akin of EULOGY!

I am not an expert in colors but when I saw the pictures of UhuRuto, they were looking like ghosts. I thought maybe, things will get brighter………. boy I was wrong.

From Pillar One to Pillar Three, total darkness and then something grey like they are hovering somewhere in the gate to purgatory.

It now makes sense the analogy that Jubilee were holding a funeral.

They were burying corruption, cronyism, tenderprenuership and thighprenuership, tribalism, joblessness, high cost of living.

Welcome NASA, the government of all people.

Meanwhile Odumbe Isaac adds:>>>

Reading the Jubilee manifesto is like watching the sequel to a very bad Chuck Norris movie. These guys must live on a parallel universe to not be able to read the tea leaves and understand the groundswell of discontent in Wanjikuland.

You can’t even build a 1.2 billion bridge – I’m still scratching my head as to how a bridge costs 1.2 billion – you have no business promising the marble-mouthed developments in your new manifesto. An incumbent government has no business promising new things when they can’t even show you how and where they delivered what they promised in the last 5 years. The one I like is when they promise yet again – Arap Kipindupindu promised on Feb 3rd 2013 – that no Kenyan will ever die of hunger or famine again. They should have just added – if we can’t get you bread, we’ll give you cake.

Speaking of which, if you can’t even build a bridge that you say costs 1.2 billion, how many more dodgy projects are out there waiting to collapse? David Maraga, watch out. Jubilee also launched you in Kisii. Being launched by these two chaps can be hazardous. Just ask the folks in Butalangi shaking their heads and saying “Vindu colapsanga”.
