FINALLY ODM EXPELS Hon Ababu Namwamba, Budalangi by-election Loading

Ababu Namwamba and Salim Mvurya are among 10 politicians the ODM disciplinary committee has expelled for defecting to Jubilee Party.

Budalang’i MP Ababu quit his ODM secretary general post and later formed Labour Party of Kenya, through which he intends to unite Luhyas.

Mvurya, who is Kwale Governor, decamped to JP alongside Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani and promised to mobilise residents to vote for Jubilee in 2017.

Others who have been expelled are;

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi
Mathare MP Steven Kariuki
Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura
Kwale woman representative Zainab Chidzuga
Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama
Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima
Sirisia MP John Waluke
Viwandani MCA Samwel Nyang’wara

The committee that met at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi on Monday pardoned Marsabit Governor Ukur Yattani and Igembe Central MP Cyprian Kubai.

Five members will appear before it on Thursday for questioning. They are Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Mustafa Idd (Kilifi South), Gideon Mung’aro (Kilifi North), Chachu Ganya (North Horr) and James Rege (Karachuonyo).

The MPs could lose their parliamentary seats if the Registrar of Political Parties ratifies the decision of the party’s disciplinary committee.

They were de-whipped from National Assembly committees last week, with the exception of Chidzuga and Arama who had been removed earlier.

Rege earlier said he had not been given a chance to explain his association to Jubilee Party to the committee.

The MP said he did not deserve expulsion as the disciplinary had not heard his case. He noted he was not interrogated by the committee as he was outside the country when those who defected were summoned.

Rege affirmed that he was in ODM to stay as he had not publicly announced his move to Jubilee.

“There is no reason why I must be kicked out of ODM. As far as I am concerned I’m a life member of the party and I have only been working closely with the Jubilee administration for the sake of development in my constituency,” he told the Star by phone.

“It will be unfair for the party to punish me without listening to my side of the story.”

Kisii MPs Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache North) and Simon Ogari (Bomachoge Chache) earlier rejoined ODM weeks after decamping to Jubilee Party.

Onyonka said JP, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto, had broken its promises to him.

EXPOSED: WHAT Raila Told Hon Onyonka and Other Kisii MPs who DEFECTED BACK to ODM

GETTING ON ELECTION VICTORY MODE:
REMARKS OF RT. HON RAILA ODINGA, EGH TO THE ODM NATIONAL GOVERNING COUNCIL; BOMAS OF KENYA; NOVEMBER 1, 206:

When this organ last met in April 2015, the purpose was to review our performance, help the then new leadership bond and lay the ground for revitalizing the party. The new leadership has taken off well and given the party fresh momentum.

Today, we focus on our next big challenges; the elections due in August 2017 and leading the country thereafter.

Given the damage the Jubilee administration has visited on the nation, Kenya after 2017 and beyond is a heavy agenda that requires that we apply commensurate resources; human, intellectual, physical and financial to surmount the challenge. It does look like governing after 2017 might be a bigger challenge than winning the elections.

We are a social democratic movement. Our vision of Kenya is profoundly different from Jubilee’s. We believe in justice, equity, fairness, inclusivity, free speech and the rule of law. All these values have been basterdised in these last four years of Jubilee.

The 2017 election is therefore critical in many different ways.
August 2017 will determine whether this country stays on the path of progress or retreats into permanent retrogression, with the forces of Status quo that has been fighting our progress finally taking full control of our destiny. Those forces are now determined to reverse the gains from the Second Liberation struggle after betraying the ideals of our independence struggle.

The elections of 2017 will determine whether we remain an imperfect democracy trying to improve, or we return to a full-scale dictatorship.
The elections will determine whether we preserve devolution, the Constitution of 2010 and their promise to create a more equitable Kenya, or we say goodbye to our second experiment with two levels of government and a democratic constitution as happened soon after independence.

The elections will determine whether corruption, tribalism and nepotism become a permanent way of life in Kenya or we create an open and accountable society where your tribe and your relatives do not determine whether you get government jobs or not, whether you win State tenders or not.

So get me right fellow members of ODM: Winning in 2017 is not about ODM or CORD being in power. It is about saving Kenya.

It is about safeguarding the future of our children and ensuring they do not inherit more debts than they already have.

It is the dream of all parents to ensure a better, more secure and more prosperous future for their children. That must be our motivation.
Indications are that if ODM does not stand firm, act right, mobilise broadly and wisely, fight hard and smart, if we do not win 2017 elections, Kenya will go the way of Zaire under Mobutu Seseseko or the route of the many other African countries that were brought down by their leaders.

A Kleptrocracy is taking roots here. It is stealing public resources to buy and retain power and to create an absolute dictatorship bordering on a royalty and a monarchy. If we don’t stop it, nobody will.

A bandit government is taking roots here. It will take Kenya down and out while its elite squad stinks with wealth stolen from us.

Never in the history of this country have we seen so much plunder, theft, impunity, so many lies by the government, State sponsored extra judicial killings, and such incompetence in the management of the affairs of State as we see today. That makes for a bandit government.

Never in our history have we borrowed so much money abroad and stolen it abroad as they have done with the Eurobond. That is the making of a bandit government.

This country has had its share of scandals. We had KEN-REN, Goldenberg and Anglo Leasing. But never has this country seen its government come up with so many schemes whose sole purpose is to steal money from the public as Jubilee has done in four years.

That makes for a bandit government.

We have lost chunks of our country to terrorists and bandits. Life has come to a stand still in Kerio Valley and Mandera and many parts of Northern Kenya. Famine is ravaging parts of the country while government officials hawk stolen money in harambees. That is a bandit government.
Jubilee has to be stopped, and nobody will do it if we don’t.

Do not worry that our development partners are pampering the regime and fattening its accounts with more money. Do not worry that development partners are turning a blind eye to the corruption and impunity taking roots. They did so with Mobutu Seseseko and Kamuzu Banda and the many other kleptocracies until those regimes fell under the weight of corruption and lies. This is our country. We must save it ourselves.
Getting ODM on an election victory ready mode is therefore not a party affair. It is a matter of national interest.

We begin by strengthening ODM. I am glad that much has been done on this front. I want to thank all our officials, the governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, the MCAs and our women and youth who have applied themselves to the process of revitalizing the party. We are proud of you.

To those still standing on the fence weighing options, who are doubting ODM’s strength and determination, the window is closing and soon it will be too late. Going into this election, ODM will not recognise a middle ground or any grey lines. You are either with us or with them. You are either for us or against us. The time to make that choice is now.

Being election ready means ODM must strengthen, not weaken its ties with our coalition partners Wiper and Ford Kenya to form a more perfect and much stronger union founded on the values of trust and mutual respect.

We must also lead in opening our doors for other like-minded parties, individuals and organisations to join us. As our most celebrated writer Ngugi wa Thiongo tells us in his most celebrated book A Grain of Wheat, “A day comes when brother shall give us brother, a mother her own son, when you and I have heard the call of a nation in turmoil.” I am confident that as the Jubilee rot deepens, many Kenyans will abandon the shackles of tribe and kinship and join the race to save a nation in turmoil. Let us have a plan for engaging with them.

We must reach out to all the parties that hate the rape of our country by Jubilee; those who hate the tribalism, nepotism, impunity and the forces of revision who believe our best days were in the past.

Let us build bridges to the civil society, the youth, the women, professional groups, the academia, the students, labour movements and faith groups to save our country.

We must put up elaborate and tested structures on the ground to register voters, to get out the vote and to protect the vote on Election Day.

Before that, we must take a firm stand on the illegalities going on at the IEBC where commissioners who are legally and officially out of office are still transacting business, setting the rules of the game and seeking to reverse the law. They are part of the bandit regime that thrives on impunity, confusion and law of the jungle. ODM will not endorse the impunity and the illegality being committed at the IEBC.

Going into 2017, let us help our people draw the line between Jubilee and us. Let us not allow them get away with the lie that we basically agree on what needs to be done but we disagree on how it should be done.

Let us disabuse our people of a notion being peddled by the failed Jubilee regime that both the Opposition and the ruling party have failed.

First, we are in agreement with Jubilee on nothing. There is no single policy issue on which we agree with Jubilee as things stand today. We differ on the borrowing spree, on how to create jobs for the youth and how to secure Kenya.

We do not agree that the Constitution and independent offices are making it difficult for the President to govern and to fight corruption. We do not believe the economy is doing well.
As a party, we have a history of fighting for and anchoring reforms.

Jubilee has no known record of fighting for any progressive course unless that course is laced with prospects for private gain. That is what we learnt from NYS, the Eurobond, Youth Fund, Uwezo Fund, the maternal health program and the many other programs that are now officially scandals.

The scam at the Ministry of Health is a clear case of the Constitution being subverted for private gain. I want to task our able senators to build a bipartisan coalition in the Senate and demand to know from the National Government and development partners especially the World Bank why this illegality was endorsed and financed.

Finally ladies and gentlemen, let us be election ready by laying down and rolling out a clear agenda for nomination of candidates.

The National Elections Board must confront this as a matter of grave concern to our party and its followers across the country and abroad.

The mistakes of 2013 must not be repeated. We must get people who believe and share in the ideals of the party, who have stood with the party and who can be counted on to stand with the party in good and bad times, not those who will use the party only as a bridge to the other side and to other things. Our supporters out there know who our people are. This process has to be free, fair and transparent.

The process must protect women, youth and disabled candidates as vulnerable but critical members of our party. In the end, the nomination must lead to our party winning a majority of gubernatorial, Senate, National Assembly and County Assembly seats. And we must win the presidential race by a clear majority to enable us execute the reform agenda that Kenyans so desire and so deserve.
God bless you.

REVENGE? Did Statehouse Operatives Let President Magufuli Suffer in Traffic to teach him a Lesson?

Tanzanian President John Magufuli was stuck in traffic on Monday as roads had reportedly not been cleared for his arrival.

Witnesses told the Star that he was held up in the snarl-up on Uhuru Highway, on his maiden visit to Kenya following his election in October 2015.

Magufuli had earlier chosen to walk from Intercontinental Hotel where he was staying to the nearby Jomo Kenyatta mausoleum.

He was caught in the traffic on his way from the mausoleum to State House.

Among activities slated for Magufuli’s two-day visit are talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta and a joint news conference at State House.

The two leaders will discuss matters including Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohamed’s candidature for the position of Africa Union Commission chairperson.

Hon Richard Onyonka DUMPS Jubilee RETURNS to ODM says GROUND is HOSTILE to Corruption

Hon Richard Onyonka is back in ODM crying loud, he is alleged to have pleaded with top Orange house and Capital Hill operatives to allow him meet PM Odinga to apologize for sleeping with Jubilee- still he has not managed to get access.

Onyonka who was chased like a dog last week during the Nyacheki by-election where he had gone to support Jubilee candidate is said to be constantly harrased by his constituents for ‘eating NYS Waiguru money’ and also Charles Nyachae’s Obomo bwo Omgusii statehouse handouts..

Hon Onyonka is currently attending the ODM Governing Council Meeting at Bomas of Kenya in his capacity as MP. The ground in his Mosocho home is very hostile to Uhuru regime.

Jubilee Bloggers FAKE OUTRAGE is TOO LITTLE TOO LATE, Spare us the Hypocrisy

JUBILEE’S FAKE OUTRAGE IS FOUR YEARS LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT
By Jackson Omondi
The blogosphere is awash with commentary expressing political mea culpa. Taken on face value, one gets the feeling that Jubilants are going through a political Saul to Paul moment, an epiphany of sorts.

But the truth is that these are the same folks who have made a living out of sheer cheerleading as the bellicose duo empty the nation’s purse.

As galling as it is, the 5 billion-shilling heist is hardly the first act of thievery carried out under this administration. There is a laundry list of mega corruption scandals that this sainted administration has either swept under the rug or played the good old political sanitation game on the perpetrators.

Raila Odinga gets the credit for singlehandedly unmasking the coin-minting manoeuvres that have now become a staple of this administration and like in all cases, his revelations have always been met with coordinated condemnation and repudiation from the peanut gallery.

The NYS scandal, the Eurobond voodoo accounting, the Anglo leasing payouts, the bloated and pedestrian manner in which the costing of the SGR was done and many more, are all money-minting vessels that hit our shores and the cheerleaders chose to look the other way while hundreds of billions vanished! The upshot? Our kids and grandkids will have to foot the bill!

Where was the outrage then? Where were the crocodile tears when the billions slated for infrastructure were shipped to off shore accounts? What makes this latest scandal so damning that the hundreds of billions lost in the Eurobond quandary didn’t have?

Are Jubilants telling us that they just found out that the state of our health institutions are wanting? Tough luck trying to convince any objective Kenyan that this new-found sense of patriotism is legitimate when you have spent four years defending the most corrupt government in the history of Kenya.

You can’t claim to be on the side of the patients while you have spent four years issuing blank cheques to an administration that has given corruption an ID card! We don’t believe you. Try Mars or Jupiter.

Homa Bay County faces lawsuit over maternity deaths

Homa Bay County professional caucus has threatened to sue the county government and governor Cyprian Awiti over increasing cases of maternal deaths in the county.

The recent death of a woman due for delivery in the county has sent shock-waves among professionals from the county who accuse Governor Cyprian Awiti of doing too little despite the billions that has come to the county since devolution system started.

“I intend to move to Law Courts in lieu of a steady pattern of deaths occasioned by negligence in Homa-Bay county and, to particularly seek for civil remedies for the affected who have a right to emergency healthcare services, ” said Silas Jakakimba, aide of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

“It is shameful that in 2016 in Homa Bay, a pregnant mother and child still dies due to medical emergencies,” he added.

This writer has been made to understand a team of lawyers have prepared a petition for the court action, with details revealing most of the cases of women dying are as a result of lack of essential medical equipment despite the billions the county is gobbling ostensibly for health services.

SOMBRE as Langata Constituency Bids Farewell to South C’s FINEST Muide Munyao aka ‘Tyson’

By Phil Wesonga
Together with several Lang’ata Constituents led by 2017 parliamentary aspirant Ahmed Papa Ibrahim and South C ward county assembly aspirant Khalif Osman, we have this afternoon paid our last respects to the late Noah Muinde Munyao popularly known as “Tyson” at his rural home in Mavindu sublocation, Mbooni West, Makueni County.

An active CORD coalition activist in Lang’ata Constituency, Tyso was until his untimely death a businessman in Nairobi. He leaves behind a widow Diana and two children Abigail and Neema. May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace.

WHY Karen Njeri Nyamu Will TRIUMPH in the Nairobi Women Race in 2017

By Otas Telo

There is no doubt that Karen Njeri is in the race for the Women representative seat in the elections slated for August 2017.

Her candidature comes against the backdrop of poor leadership, unfulfilled promises, exclusion and unresponsive leadership by the incumbent.

Mature democracy dictates that there should always be an alternative leadership at all times of our political, social and economic endeavours. This ensures that when one leadership fails to appropriately and cogently listen, analyse and respond to the issues bedevilling the people, there is another to resort to.

KAREN is evidently the immediate and most promising alternative best suited to breach the leadership hiccups conspicuous in the position of a women representative.

KAREN brings with her a wealth of experience in business and entrepreneurship. She has worked as a business developer, asset development consultant and until recently,a marketer. Such knowledge and knowhow is urgently needed in Nairobi which is currently the bed rock of poverty,HIV and illiteracy.

Karen aims to use her position as a women representative to nurture, incubate and continually monitor the progress our youths will be making in their entrepreneurial undertakings.

As I bring this to a close, one thing remains outstanding in politics. It is about power and resources. Any useful leader who intends to use their political power and wealth for the benefit of the people must give articulate, precise and concise ways in which they would do so.

What Karen is currently doing in Nairobi County is a pointer to good things to come. She will perpetuate all her development projects until our county will achieve better standards of life.

Land dispute in Migori governor aspirant Ochillo Ayacko family spirals out of control

A land dispute involving Migori gubernatorial aspirant Ochillo Ayacko is turning ugly as close family members now accuse him of engineering the grabbing of their family land.

The Ochillo’s are a big polygamous family.

His uncles are accusing him of de-inheriting them from a family inheritance, saying attempts to subdivide the land to reflect the wishes of the long deceased family patriarch is being frustrated by Ochillo.

“We risk being homeless in our own father’s land as our brother Mbogo pushed by his son Ochillo have taken up the whole family land and prevented us from farming by cutting down our crops and threatening to evict us,” Gabriel Odeny Ayacko, the aspirant’s uncle told the press in Awendo DO’s office.

The dispute has roped in Migori County government as frustrated family members have petitioned Gov. Okoth Obado to assist in resolving the matter.

This is despite the fact that Mr. Ochillo is a front-runner of the gubernatorial office who may seek to influence the eventual outcome of the land dispute, in the event that he wins next year.

“We know that our son Ochillo wants to vie for governor position next year, our appeal is not political as the land issue started long before he joined politics. His silence and being one of alleged beneficiaries of land in question is in bad faith,” Odeny said.

Attempts to get a comment from Ochillo were fruitless as his phone kept disconnecting.

An official from Migori County government told this writer the county’s department of lands is looking into the issue but remained non-committal whether Gov. Obado will personally get involved.

Obado and Ochillo are seen to be the front-runners in next year’s gubernatorial race, with stakes already high.

EXPOSED: WHY Raila SKIPPED Deolution Torch Event in Kisumu

By CMD
Right Hon. Raila Odinga was supposed to be the Chief Guest in Kisumu County Devolution Torch ceremony where Governor Ranguma was supposed to be handed Devolution Torch by Meru Governor Peter Munya. However, he evaded the event due to tenable reasons ;

First, the entire conception of Devolution Torch had been watered down by the leadership of Kisumu. Their idea was to turn a noble event meant for residents to assess, celebrate, appreciate, critique and take stock of the achievements for the last four years into a Political event meant for Governor Ranguma to launch his reelection bid.

They wanted to use Raila’s presence as an endorsement giving them an opportunity to rubberstamp their authority thereafter. True to the anticipation of majority , Governor Ranguma used the event to assert himself as the only leader in Kisumu who can take Kisumu Miles ahead.

Secondly, Branding government vehicles using Raila’s image together with his image without seeking the consent of Jakom was wrong, it’s like setting him against the people of Kisumu and giving Jubilee mandarins a fodder to to attack him. The intention of Governor Ranguma’s anti- Raila cabal was to use the branded vehicles to pick him from the airport , taking him around town before venue of the event. The flawed tendering process the branded vehicles is still questioned, their inflated prices, those involved and why the cartel had to deny company A to B despite having awarded the tender to A.

In short, they wanted to drag Raila’s name into a known county scandal, the intention was to sanitize Ranguma’s leadership but then Jubilee was to hit on Raila for being involved in misuse of county resources. It should be remembered that Mama Ida was recently invited to grace the launch of a 17.5 Million Dairy Project, the project turned out to be scandalous. Raila was well advised to evade that mediocre trap.

Jakom has been part of Government, He has done great things for this country. He knows that a transformative servant of the people doesn’t have to abuse county properties to flaunt minute achievements, he knows that if someone has a legacy it will definitely speak for itself instead of being forced down the throats of people, that a servant leadership is people driven not leader driven.

If Ranguma wanted his leadership trumpet to be blown then it should have come from the people of Kisumu County not himself. His decision to brand county vehicles to showcase his meager achievements is a testimony he is well aware he hasn’t done much to attract peoples attention.

Even President Uhuru who is the Commander In Chief and king of PR in Kenya has never branded a single Government vehicle to showcase his pathetic track record. Devolution wasn’t meant to create small gods in counties, it was meant to enhance equalization through servant leadership.

Lastly, Raila Odinga is abreast with the challenges facing Kisumu People , their concerns and their broad take on Governor Ranguma’s leadership. He knows that his performance has been below the expectation of many people. Thus evading the event was choosing to be with Majority of the residents.

He used his foreknowledge to make a Popular decision which turned out to be the most unpalatable to Ranguma’s cabal, some of whom were heard throwing tantrums and cursing his decision in public. As usual , some leaders were blamed for misadvising Jakom but the same people portioning blame wanted to use him to achieve their selfish agenda without thinking about it collectively.

They thought they had managed to convince Raila to their slaughter house only for them to end up with rotten eggs on their faces.

To save themselves from the glaring and inevitable embarrassment, the organizers rushed to Tom Mboya Labour college, pleaded with Mama Ida Odinga to grace their event together with other guests who were attending the ODM Women’s Convention. ODM Chairman John Mbadi and ODM Eexecutive Director Oduor Ongwen were among the guests attending the ODM event. Only 2 Governors out of the expected 46 turned up for the event.

EXPOSED: Kikuyu and Kalenjin VOTERS EMBARRASSED, Uhuru and Ruto FAILED Kenyans, The SHAME of Electing them

UhuRuto Failed Us!
By Anwar Sadat
These two men, as they walk to their retirement in less than 300 days, they leave behind a broken nation. They have betrayed the aspirations of millions of their supporters and have vindicated those of us who believed that they lacked the skills, know-how and experience to lead our nation.

Under their watch, kenya has sunk deeper into debt;the economic infrastructure of our nation is in ruins as former blue chip companies such as kenya airways, Uchumi, etc. are on the verge of insolvency. Many companies continue to post losses as some relocate abroad, because it has become too expensive to operate in kenya.

Kenya is more divided now than when they came to power. Tribal clashes continue to exist as tensions between communities escalate. As they spend billions of shillings to militarize, Kenyan policemen and other members of the security forces are poorly paid and dwell in dilapidated houses.

To furnish there numerous foreign trips and expensive state dinners, they have increased the tax burden on all Kenyans. The cost of living have increased and inflation is at all time high.

Our youth graduating from institutions of higher learnings, burdened by HELB loans, can not find meaningful jobs or access credit facilities to begin business. The youth fund is already depleted, looted by those elected to lead. Corruption has become the second name of their administration.

Kenya can not afford 5 more years of their leadership. Folks, the mark of a successful administration is felt in our pocketbooks.

It is true that under their administration, some businesses have been successful. Businesses such as Weston Hotels, Brookside, Safaricom, and those associated with the Jubilee principals and their relatives have posted obscene profits as the national economy struggles. Ask yourself why?

Kenya power, has posted profits since Mama Ngina became a share holder and yet Kenyans are subjected to blackouts every 6hrs. For every home and primary school connected to the electric grid under the last mile program, sponsored by the French government, the president’s family gets Kshs 3 for every Kshs 10.

I am not against business men, but it is a conflict of interest when the first family owns shares in public companies.

Though they are leaving behind a failing economy, a tired and disappointed people, I have faith in the ability of Kenyans to rise again. As a people, we refuse to be defined by the failings of the Jubilee administration.

We are looking forward to a better tomorrow. We are choosing a united country, founded on the principle of fairness and equality for all. A country where hard work is rewarded and that is why I will be sending these two men, Uhuru and Ruto, plus their administration to retirement in 2017.

If you believe in a better tomorrow, stand with Kenya and send The Jubilee administration home in 2017.

Massive WALK OUT in DP Ruto’s meeting in Elgeyo Marakwet

Business was not as usual for Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday after he received a hostile reception in Elgeyo Marakwet after a section of leaders pulled a massive walkout from the meeting he was to address.

Ruto was in the area to broker a peace deal between the warring residents of Marakwet, West Pokot and Baringo.

Trouble began when the Marakwetes refused to be part of the meeting and pulled a walk out.

“We cannot have a meeting with the Pokot when one of our own is still in the mortuary. Our culture does not even allow us to meet with the Pokot,” declared one of the leaders.

However, normalcy was restored after Marakwet West MP William Kipsang intervened urging the warring communities to engage in peace talks.

EXPOSED: President Uhuru’s SISTER Nyokabi and Cousin PAID 200M of the 5BILLION STOLEN from HEALTH Ministry

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sister and cousin are among owners of companies suspected to have fraudulently pocketed millions of shillings in the Sh5.3 billion “HealthGate” or “Mafya House” scam — a Jubilee nightmare.

Uhuru’s sister Nyokabi Kenyatta Muthama and cousin Kathleen Kihanya are directors of a company that pocketed Sh41 million in questionable payouts.

This brings the country’s corruption crisis to the President’s doorstep.

They own Sundales International Limited, registered on September 12, 2013 – five months after Uhuru’s election.

The Star’s independent investigations show the company has been awarded government contracts running into hundreds of millions.

Between September 2014 and February this year, for instance, Sundales won at least five separate tenders from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority — worth Sh270 million.

The deepening graft crisis, 10 months to the polls, complicates Uhuru’s re-election strategy. It comes just days after he appeared to surrender and publicly admit he was frustrated in the anti-graft war.

“…if there is one issue that has frustrated me, it’s this issue [corruption] …Because the pressure is on me . . . show me one administration, since Independence, that has taken action on corruption like I have done?” an agitated Uhuru protested on October 19. He addressed a State House summit on accountability.

The Sh41 million wired to the firm was supposedly payment to supply food to HIV patients.

It is part of Sh515.7 million an internal audit has flagged as possible fraud.

The details emerged yesterday amid revelations Estama Investment Ltd, one firms that pocketed Sh800 million, had not filed annual returns since its incorporation on June 19, 2008.

These revelations put pressure on the President, days after he blasted Auditor General Edward Ouko who has issued reports that embarrass the government and attempted to probe the Eurobond saga.

Nyokabi, born in May 1963, is Mama Ngina’s second-last born. She is listed as director of Kenyatta Trust charity for poor students.

Kathleen, Uhuru’s first cousin, is said to be an exuberant communications and PR guru. She supervised the media wing of Uhuru’s 2002 presidential campaign against Mwai Kibaki.

Alongside Solicitor General Njee Muturi, she worked at Uhuru’s Red Cross Center when led the opposition.

The Star has established Sundales won two tenders at Kemsa through restricted tendering.

From its website, the firm’s directors appear to have a massive war chest. It supplies heavy equipment, spare parts, construction materials, non-pharmaceuticals, food and a full range of printing services.

Yesterday, Attorney General Githu Muigai denied files of companies named in “HealthGate” had mysteriously disappeared from the Registrar of Companies.

He said Estama Investment directors are Esther Wahito Makanga and Ambrose Makanga Ngari.

Ngari is said to be a General Manger at Equity Bank.

“According to the records, no annual returns have been filed since incorporation. It’s a private company limited by shares that was incorporated on 19 June 2008,” Githu’s statement said.

Other firms named beside Uhuru’s family company are Dentmed Kenya Limited, Life Care Medics Ltd and Ryovac Industries Ltd.

Life Care Medics is owned by millionaire Paul Wanderi Ndung’u and Richard Ngatia.

Ndung’u was among top 10 shareholders in Kenya Airways, Housing Finance and Olympia by 2010 and his shares in them were then valued at Sh576 million.

The leaked internal audit indicates the scandal involved manipulating the Integrated Financial Management System, diverting funds ad making double payments.

The audit says the amount lost could be of monumental proportion because the audit process is ongoing.

“The audit is experiencing setbacks in terms of facilitative environment contributing to slow delivery of audit work, which is necessary in management, decision making and fraud-risk mitigation,” the report says.

For instance, the audit says Sh515.7 million was lost through double payments under the National Aids Control Programme. It was to buy food rations for HIV patients, though no payment vouchers were availed for audit.

“Some Sh265.7 million was paid to Cooperative Bank of Kenya. The bank cannot be a supplier of food and rations and hence the real payees were not disclosed,” the audit says.

WHY Governor Mandago Is RIGHT, Mt Kenya MUST Vote for DP Ruto in 2022 Otherwise…………

Dear brethren,

Some people are very funny sorts. When Governor William Kabogo and Senator Paul Njoroge told Ruto on his face that he is not assured of the Kikuyu support in 2022, Jubilee keyboard terrorists aka bloggers maintained a loud silence. They were lackadaisical to castigate him.

Instead, they celebrated the heartrending remarks by their sons. Now that Governor Mandago has responded at the behest of DP William Ruto, reminding them of the debt they are supposed to pay him in 2022, the same deaf and dumb keybord warriors have miraculously healed and are now on top of yheir voices.

As a matter of fact, they have the temerity to condemn the messenger, quoting all protective verses in The New Testament and rebuking him using all types of ugly adjectives as indicated in Oxford dictionary.

In fact, they suddenly are in love with the ICC and wants it to stay. The question begs, is it wrong for one to remind you of what you owe him/her? Why go ballistic if you are sure you’ll keep your promise?

Why would you panic if somene tells you “Ile deni yangu ulisema utanilipa next week usisahau” unless you are not planning to pay. Personaly as a sincere promiser, I say Ruto should be given what belogs to him in 2022. In fact, all rights are reserved. #Wakalekaeningumu

Sincerely,
(Signed)

BREAKING: Raila STATEMENT on Sh 5Billion HEALTH Ministry SCANDAL

STATEMENT BY RT. HON RAILA ODINGA, EGH ON SH5 BILLION HEALTH MINISTRY SCAM:
THIS HEALTH SCAM IS THE PRESIDENT’S SCAM:
Just last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed himself to the people of Kenya and told them that he had done everything in his power to fight the scourge of corruption in the country.
The President said the reason we are not seeing any progress in this fight is because Independent Constitutional offices and Commissions entrusted with various powers to tackle corruption had failed to deliver on their mandate.
Kenyans have barely come to terms with the abdication of authority by the President when we now have to deal with a new scandal, the loss of KSH. 5.3 billion at the Ministry of Health.
The details of the KSH5.3 billion scandal are beginning to raise doubts on the President’s innocence in what is happening around him with regard to theft of public funds.
It is now emerging that one of the companies mentioned…ESTAMA LTD…which was paid to supply 100 container clinics at KSH1 million each, and which has never been supplied, is associated with people in the Presidency, much as the government is working hard to deny that.
Another company is associated with President Kenyatta’s immediate family members. Yet another is associated with his close friends and confidantes.
Sandales International Ltd, which was paid KSH41 million, features Kathleen Kihanya, Nyokabi Muthama and Samson Kamiri.
Life Care Medics, which earned KSH 201 million, is associated with Richard Ngatia and Paul Ndungu. The President cannot claim to know nothing about these individuals. And Kenyans know who these people are to the President.
We are getting a feeling that President Uhuru Kenyatta is not as innocent as he has tried to portray himself to the public in the massive theft crippling the country.
Is it conceivable that, for a government that is now openly boasting that it can read people’s computers and bank accounts remotely, did not know that key members of his administration, friends and kins were involved in corrupt business at the Ministry of Health, touching on a program in which he has shown direct personal interest like maternal health.
This scandal is President Kenyatta’s scandal. He must deal with it as such. He must tell the country what he knows, when he knew it and what he did when he knew it.
This scam is a continuation of what started with the NYS scandal where, again, family members and close confidantes of the President were implicated as direct beneficiaries in the theft from the youth of Kenya. Kenyans will recall that the president came out strongly to defend the Ministry of Devolution and the NYS deals long before they were investigated and proved to be scandals that they now officially are.
Is the President silent on this and the many other thefts in the country because of this conflicted position? Is he giving up on the war of corruption because it has now entered his own inner sanctum? We have reason to believe so.
While the country has recorded significant gains in infant mortality, malaria deaths, under- five mortality and life expectancy in the last few years, we have not made significant progress in maternal health.
That is what makes this latest theft as heartless as any can be.
It touches not only one area that is critical to our well-being as a nation but also where we have been doing badly.
It appears to be by design. Jubilee has refused to devolve the funds and has had hospitals under county governments to undertake treatment then be reimbursed. That reimbursement has been irregular, little and sometimes not paid at all.
All along, Jubilee stuck to this program under the guise that it is a significant matter that needed the direct attention of the National Government and with a close supervision of the presidency. It is now clear that Jubilee hang on to this simply as an opportunity to steal from Kenyans.
This latest scam is a scorched earth war on the most vulnerable in our population; mothers on the verge of giving birth and babies just delivered or about to be delivered. The President cannot run away from this scam.

Who is Kathleen Wanjiku Kihanya? HERE is ALL You Need to know if she is a Cousin of President Uhuru

KATHLEEN WANJIKU KIHANYA, 53, is an indomitable woman whose passion for public relations and marketing has propelled her to the top of her game. She will best be remembered for having pioneered the branding of sugar in Kenya through the successful launch and promotion of Mumias Sugar. She is also closely associated to Gatundu South MP Uhuru Kenyatta. She spoke to SHIRLEY GENGA.

From a very early age, about ten years old, I was always fascinated with people’s purchasing behaviour patterns. From church, we would go through the shops with my mum and the things people bought enthralled me. I always asked myself, what influences buying decisions? Why buy Lux and not Lifebuoy?

This question heightened my interest and prickled my curiosity. I knew I was a born marketer. However, when I sat for my ‘A’ Levels at Kenya High School, I qualified to go to university but my points did not qualify me to study Bachelor of Commerce, my course of choice, at the University of Nairobi. Although I was discouraged, I decided not to give up my dream, so I applied to three universities in the United States without my parents’ knowledge, and I got accepted to Indiana State University.

My next hurdle was to convince my parents. My dad refused to buy it so I got my uncle Kung’u to convince my parents, which he did. Thus, at 19 years, in August 1981, I left home for the US to study marketing. I later transferred to the University of Texas where I graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Marketing. I came back home immediately after graduation in 1985.

My first job was as a marketing executive at Diners Club, the first Kenyan credit card company. I worked there for five years before joining McCann Erickson Advertising Agency as a senior public relations consultant where I set up the public relations arm of the business. I worked there until 1994.

It is at McCann that I horned my work ethic skills. In an agency, you must meet set deadlines. Clients always make unreasonable demands and you have to meet their expectations. So we would work sometimes between 15 and 20 hours to complete the job. Long hours were the norm and I became a workaholic. It was during this time that I also became a perfectionist.

Big clients

After I left McCann, I set up my own company, Aces Ahead, a public relations and marketing consultancy firm. A colleague later joined me and we worked together until 1998, when she chose to pursue other interests. We developed brand and marketing strategies for big clients including Kenya Breweries, Cadbury’s and BAT. We handled many brands in Kenya and Uganda. My love affair with brands was firmly cemented.

I love challenges and making things happen. In 1998, an opportunity came my way and I went for it. Mumias Sugar Company was looking for a head of sales and marketing and I applied for the job. The brief was to set up a marketing structure from scratch, as the company did not have this department. My brief was to not only set up the structure, but to execute it as well.

I had never been to Kakamega before and in my ignorance, I thought it was near Kisumu, but after flying into Kisumu Airport, we drove for another 90 minutes to Mumias, and at that point, I decided there was no way I could live that far from my family. So during the interviews, I was 50-50 about accepting the job.

When I was short listed, I really prayed and asked God to give me wisdom. During the board interview, I was very apprehensive, but I must have hidden it well because I emerged tops and got the job. I decided there and then to take the job and to face the unknown with courage and determination. My family was also very supportive and they assured me they would help look after my daughter, who was only eleven years old at the time.

I moved to Mumias and discovered it was a beautiful and serene environment. I quickly settled down and got to serious work. The next three years turned out to be the most eventful and challenging. I had entered the university of life. It became evident that I would spend 60 per cent of my time lobbying for the survival of the sugar industry and the other 40 per cent on my real job.

I drew up a three-year strategic plan and enjoyed the marketing challenge. I hired excellent managers and staff, trained them, took them through the strategic plan, set objectives together with them and set the standards of operation. We worked really well together.

Although we excelled in the department, I made enemies everywhere. Sugar is a very sensitive commodity. While I was setting structures in place and closing many loopholes in the process, I did not realise I was closing other people’s lifelines. For instance, one of the things I did was to open up sugar sales to everybody, including the kiosk owner who wanted just one bag. I also set up a pricing structure such that the more volumes one bought, the cheaper the price.

What that meant, and I did not realise it at the time, was that I had cut out the middleman and killed corruption. They wanted me out. The battle had just started.

I set up branches in Mombasa and enhanced the ones in Nairobi to bring the sugar close to the customers. Again, this did not make the crooked sugar importers happy, as they could no longer sell their sugar since Mumias sugar was readily available. And Kenyans loved the local sugar. They could identify it by colour. Imported sugar is bleached white. In fact, this observation had a lot to do with the packet I developed, which has a transparent window to allow consumers to see the colour of their sugar.

We also got into a deal with Kenya Railways to transport Mumias Sugar via rail safely from Bungoma to Nairobi or Mombasa. This turned out to be a great bargain as rail transport was 70 per cent cheaper and more dependable. That destroyed the transport cartel, and I made more enemies.

My vision was to brand sugar. Initially, I did not get a lot of support, even from the board. The idea seemed too far-fetched. It was also going to be an expensive project with a heavy budget allocation. Eventually, however, after many presentations with figures and facts, the board approved the project on one condition — that I find the money to support the project. And I did.

I had many challenges as I developed the sugar pack. I had very little knowledge about packaging and I will forever be grateful to the late Suru Tanna, Chairman of General Printers for teaching me everything I know about packaging film, specs, lamination (to fight counterfeits) and packaging machines.

At the launch, a kilo of branded sugar cost two shillings more than a kilo of the same sugar in a brown paper bag. But the power of advertising is amazing. Eventually, everyone wanted the branded sugar, regardless of the price. We could not meet the demand. We also had good partners who supported us, including supermarkets that set aside shelf space.

By this time, I was managing three offices — Mumias, Nairobi and Mombasa — and I had to spend equal time in each office during the week. So I flew a minimum of twice a week for three years. That was very tiring. Balancing my life became quite a challenge, but I ensured that whatever I did, I was in Nairobi over the weekends to spend time with my family.

Successfully branding Mumias Sugar was my greatest achievement. I feel gratified even today when I go to a supermarket and see people picking the pack. I get very emotional. I thank God every day for having blessed me so much by putting me in a place that would allow me to make such an awesome contribution to this country.

My joy was complete in 2001 when Mumias Sugar won the overall Marketing Society of Kenya Warrior Award for the most innovative brand. After branding Mumias Sugar, all the other sugar companies followed suit and today, sugar is a very competitive brand. It is no longer a commodity.

I left Mumias Sugar in 2002 after the successful privatisation of the company. I felt I had achieved my objectives and I needed to move on. At Mumias, I learnt that no matter the odds, you must always fight for what you believe in, and that your integrity will always preserve you.

Being an election year, I found myself right at the heart of Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidential campaign. I gave my all to his campaign, but the tide was too strong against us. It was a great experience for me and it is then that I learnt that in politics, there is nothing black and white — everything is a shadow of grey.

Marketing career

After the elections, I was ready to go back to my marketing career and I decided to set up my own company, but the Government had just introduced CDF funding to constituencies. Uhuru asked me to assist him set up a structure that would effectively manage and run his constituency’s CDF. He also wanted me to manage his appointments, requests and media relations, so I set up the Uhuru Kenyatta Centre.

After six months, I was ready to move on. Uhuru asked me to stay on and appointed me his CDF chairperson. Once again, I shelved my marketing plans to focus on the new role. It was a hard job but I delved into it and put up a structure that gave power to the grassroots by setting up CDF sub-committees in all the 24 sub-locations.

I really enjoyed working with the women and youth groups, encouraging them to have income generating projects and empowering them. It always gave me such a joy when a project like a dispensary was completed and the look on people’s faces fulfilled me.

After the 2007 elections, I was ready to go back to marketing and in April 2008, I joined Keroche Breweries as the sales and marketing director, and successfully launched the Summit beer.

Later on in the year, together with a colleague (Samira Matthews) who is a creative expert, we set up 24 Hours Africa, an integrated marketing communications company. I love what I do and we have good clients, some of whom we represent in many African countries.

Most of them have renewed our contracts for another year. My partner and I have an excellent relationship, as we have the same vision and values. We complement each other perfectly. God has been good to us.

HERE are NAMES of the DIRECTORS of 3 companies used STEAL Sh 5BILLION from Ministry of Health

The Attorney General’s office has released names of directorsof three companies involved in the 5billion ministry of health scandal.

The Justice department in the office of the AG said all of the three companies’ records, both physical and digital, were available at the Companies Registry and that their details were open for public scrutiny.

1. Private company Estama Investments has not filed annual returns since its incorporation on June 19, 2008.

Its directors/ shareholders were listed as Ambrose Makanga and Esther Wahito who each have 500 shares.

2. Life Care Medics last filed annual returns on December 31, 2015. It is also a private company limited by shares that was incorporated on September 5, 2007.

It shareholders are Richard Ngatia and Paul Wanderi , who each hold 500 shares.

3. Private company Medafrica has never filed returns since incorporation on August 12, 2013.

Njage Makanga (400 shares) and Naomi Wanjiku (100 shares) were named as the shareholders.

Estama and Life Care were beneficiaries of cash meant for patients, expectant mothers and new-born babies.

The former, which received Sh1 billion, was the biggest beneficiary. It was also paid Sh200 million from the free maternity kitty on June 30, the same day the procurement decision was made.

Life Care Medics was paid Sh201 million for the supply of food rations alongside Co-operative Bank of Kenya, which got Sh265 million for the supply of food stuff.

The statement was sent on Friday after EACC officials led by deputy CEO Michael Mubea stormed Afya House for investigations into the Sh5 billion Health ministry scandal.

Mubea said they were expecting all the relevant document from the ministry led by CS Cleopa Mailu and Principal Secretary Nicholas Muraguri.

BREAKING: Raila to ADDRESS PRESS, to NAME ARCHITECTS of Sh 5Billion Health SCANDAL

CORD leader @RailaOdinga scheduled to address press conference 14h00 at Capitol Hill Square. Expected to unmask architects of MoH scandal

Masterminds of the Sh5.5 billion heist at the Health ministry just perfected the tricks employed at the National Youth Service to continue looting public resources.

Except for the change of names of key players and the victims of the misappropriation, the architects skimmed hundreds of millions of shillings through similar tricks, only on a grander scale. An internal audit at the ministry shows that officials also overstated bills, causing the loss of Sh1.6 billion in public funds.

The auditor found that the Ministry of Health submitted to the National Treasury a list of pending bills amounting to Sh2.4 billion. However, when the auditors went in, they only found a total bill of Sh856 million from payment vouchers and other documents.

BREAKING: STATEHOUSE Operatives DEPLOYS EACC to Cover-Up 5Billion Ministry of Health SCANDAL

EACC deputy CEO Michael Mubea has led a team of eight detectives to Afya House in Nairobi for a session on the Sh5 billion Health ministry scam.

Detectives are seeking to unearth transactions concerning a leaked audit report that showed massive loss of public funds.

Mubea walked to an office on the 6th floor without addressing journalists. But he later said the investigation will be conducted expeditiously .

“The EACC had been conducting its investigations but opened a fresh probe following media reports of an audit report,” he said.

The deputy boss added that Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu assured all documents will be availed.

Mubea said they hope to get all the documents by the end of the day or tomorrow.

The commission will give a brief on the investigations in a week, he said, noting the EACC and the Health ministry have both formed investigating teams.

The audit showed the Integrated Financial Management Information System (Ifmis) was manipulated to allow payments to various companies.

Among them was Esaki Ltd, an organisation associated with former EACC boss Philip Kinisu, which is said to have received Sh200 million.

Senators asked Mailu and Principal Secretary Nicholas Muraguri to take responsibility for the mess.

The CS is expected to address a press conference on the matter at 2pm

FIVE QUESTIONS AG Githu Muigai CANNOT ANSWER Why Files of Companies in 5Billion Heath Scam are MISSING

Hard questions that must be answered:

1)Why did the files in the 5billion health scam go missing?

2)How did they go missing?

3)Who are the directors or owners of these companies whose files went missing? (Your guess is as good as mine).

4) Who is the owner of Estama Limited that is so big and being protected? (again your guess is as good as mine)

4)Who is the Attorney General’s office, from where the files disappeared, trying to protect? (again your guess….)

5)How did Sh5billion meant to buy basic medicines and help save lives of dying patients, ended up in individuals’ bank accounts?

The same way they unmasked Esaki limited to have a view of Philip Kinisu is the same way they should unmask Estama et al so that Kenyans can have a glaring view of these corrupt fellows who should then go rot in jail forever.

Just a week after the president stood up in front of the nation spitting fire about his corrupt officers, the same shameless officers are at it again, doing what they do best without an aorta of shame. Stealing that amount of money meant for babies and pregnant mothers is no different to committing the genocide in Rwanda.

This is the most corrupt government on the phase of the earth and God will judge this government plus it’s corrupt officials harshly.

Now you understand why several counties were denied funds for health, a condition that led to doctors’ strikes all over the country, from Machakos, to Nakuru to Kisumu and even Mombasa.

It wasn’t that the county governments failed, it was just that someone in the central government pocketed the money and I can bet my life that before the end of the next two weeks there will be another scandal that will be unearthed. Was it not only a week ago that Mwangi Kiunjuri’s ministry was yet again mentioned in a corruption scandal?

Jubilee government is a government that arm twisted the Supreme court to declare it legitimate by forcing itself into power with one goal in mind, to steal and loot as much as they possibly can. What a shameless government we have of murderers, for stealing money meant to save lives is akin to murder…honestly?

2017 should be the time to send these guys home because giving them another 5 year term will be suicidal to the economy and to the whole country as a whole juu ile kuiba wataiba, mutashangaa!

The USA EMBASSY in Nairobi is PARTLY to BLAME for Massive Corruption in Kenya, Misled Obama into Embrassing Jubilee Regime

OBAMA ENDORSED UHURUTO, HE IS PARTLY TO BLAME FOR THE RELENTLESS THIEVERY IN KENYA
By P Wesonga

When Obama came to Kenya, he openly chided the opposition and embrassed Uhuruto. Showered them with praise. They took it as a licence to rob Kenyans.

And the loud silence emanating from deluded Uhuruto apologists is a manifestation of how hypocrisy, tibalism, corruption and hate for Raila is killing Kenya.

Some economist estimate that it will take at least 30 years to undo the damage caused by just 5 years of Jubilee and return to the 2012 levels. What a waste of an entire generation!

By their own admission, Kenya loses about a third of its annual budget (equivalent to a staggering USD $6 billion) to corruption yearly and it is clear to all that Uhuruto have miserably failed in the maintenance of good governance and management of the affairs of the state.

Instead, they are leading an insatiable raid on public assets. They are partaking in a quite distasteful looting of state coffers. The Jubilee government has nothing substantive to offer the Kenyan nation apart from raw tribalism and breath-taking corruption.

Anyone supporting, defending, or advancing the Jubilee cause is an enemy of Kenya.

SHOCK: Files of Companies in the sh 5.3Billion Scandal go MISSING from AG Githu Muigai Office

Files of firms in Sh5.3b scandal go missing from AG office

The Sh5.3 billion scandal at Afya House has taken a new twist after it emerged that registration details of companies involved in the transactions have gone missing from the State Law Office.

Staff at the Companies Registry were yesterday unable to trace the files for Estama Investments, registered as an EPZ company, and Life Care Medics. The two companies were beneficiaries of cash meant for patients, expectant mothers and new-born babies. Records of a third supplier, Medafrica, were non-existent, raising questions about its identity.

Without the files, it becomes impossible to unmask the people behind what may turn out to be the biggest scandal in the Jubilee administration.

STATEHOUSE in PANIC as Raila’s SUPER ALLIANCE will VAQUISH Jubilee from Power

Thirteen years after the Narc alliance toppled the Kanu regime, the opposition’s proposed National Super Alliance, NASA, has sent shock waves through Jubilee.

A NASA onslaught by all key opposition leaders would complicate President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election strategy. The vaunted mega Jubilee Party already is plagued by squabbling over powerful interim posts and its headquarters is yet to be operational.

There’s strength in numbers and opposition leaders say unity is the best way to galvanise supporters and defeat JP.

The NASA name is so compelling that three applications to reserve the name National Super Alliance have been submitted to the Registrar of Political Parties. This indicates the interest and anxiety the movement has generated.

In 2013, Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto crossed the 50 percent-plus-one threshold by only 4,100 votes.

Musalia Mudavadi’s entry into the opposition fold has left the duo and their think tanks rethinking their master plan, though they don’t say so.

There are reports two Jubilee senators and a Wiper rebel MP are behind one bid to claim the name and and spoil the opposition’s branding, if not its strategy.

Registrar of Political Parties Lucy Ndungu yesterday told the Star she would give preference to the first application received.

“I have seen the applications but I don’t know whether they are from the opposition. Two applications are by lawyers and one by a citizen,” she said, declining to elaborate.

Secretary general of Mudavadi’s ANC Geoffrey Osotsi declined to say whether it is trying to reserve the name. He emphasised NASA is Mudavadi’s brainchild.

“Everyone, even a small boy, knows the brains behind the super alliance is the Honourable Musalia Mudavadi. So any other person attempting to reserve the name must know it is illegal,” he said in an interview yesterday.

Last week, Mudavadi signaled his intention to team up with Cord co-principals Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya).

They would be joined by Kanu chairman Gideon Moi, Chama Cha Mashinani leader Isaac Rutto and Narc Kenya boss Martha Karua.

Cord CEO Norman Magaya yesterday told the Star the deal could be sealed by December.

“The relationship among all principals is very cordial, all are working aggressively to galvanise the alliance. They consult very regularly and plans are underway to put pen to paper and agree on a campaign plan of action from December to August 2017,” he said.

In 2013, Uhuru won only 6,173,433 votes, against Raila’s 5,340,546. Raila claims the election was stolen.

Mudavadi came third with 483,981 votes.

The expected entry of Gideon Moi and Isaac Ruto into the alliance would eat into Jubilee’s Rift Valley vote bloc.

Political analyst Prof Edward Kisiang’ani of Kenyatta University said the opposition will pose a serious threat to Jubilee if it chooses one flagbearer.

“Yes, they can send Jubilee home if they rally behind one candidate and mobilise their bases to register as voters,” he told the Star yesterday.

Publicly, Jubilee top brass has been rubbishing the opposition as confused, divided and unable to win.

However, Jubilee think tanks are said to be keenly watching to see if the opposition unites.

“Jubilee cannot survive such an alliance,” said ODM secretary of political Affairs Opiyo Wandayi. Jubilee is widely known as a party of only two communities [Kalenjin and Kikuyu]. Jubilee can only win by rigging. At the moment, the numbers clearly show Cord will win.”

However, a super alliance will compound the existing headache: Who should fly the flag? Raila, Wetang’ula and Kalonzo are having difficulty deciding how to choose — all want to run.

Yesterday Uhuru and Ruto’s lieutenants called the anticipated alliance inconsequential and said it would break Cord.

Nominated Senator Martha Wangari and Kieni MP Kanini Kega said an alliance will throw the opposition into further disarray and the standard bearer dilemma will persist.

“The process of getting a flagbearer will be a major challenge. If they have issues now when there are three [Cord co-principals], how about when there are four?” Wangari asked. Leaders of small parties brought on board will want a stake. In any case, we as Jubilee are ready for any eventuality.”

Kega yesterday said formation of a super alliance is “purely to force a run-off”.

It will not have any impact on Jubilee strongholds and the ruling coalition already has eaten into parts of opposition strongholds, such as Coast, Western, South Nyanza and parts of Ukambani, he told the Star.

“Jubilee is a united front ready to face any alliance. In any case, we have been challenging them to form one party. I assure our supporters it will be a good duel. We are not scared. Jubilee has increased its support base,” Kega said.

He dismissed the calculus of a super alliance. “If you look at the total votes we got in the last election and what each Cord principal brought to their table, the arithmetic doesn’t change.”

He predicted fallout among principals with presidential ambitions. “For example, Wetang’ula is not likely to accept Mudavadi as flagbearer. Voters in areas like Nyanza may not turn out, if Raila is not on the ballot. The votes are not transferable,” Kega said.

Mudavadi is considered more influential in Western and there’s a good chance he will bring votes to NASA.

In 2013, Mudavadi garnered 353,864 votes in Western, Kenyatta and Raila got 66,185 and 755,525 votes, respectively.

The opposition received huge backing in the Coast, Nyanza, lower Eastern, Western and Nairobi.

Will Ordinary Kikuyu and Kalenjin JOIN other Kenyans to PROTEST Against 5BILLION STOLEN in Ministry of Health?

By Michael O

While hundreds of helpless cancer patients from across the country writhe in pain on the cold floors along the corridors of Kenyatta National Hospital waiting for their turns at the dilapidated but country’s only affordable (public) radiotherapy machine, with thousands more painfully but quietly losing their lives daily in the far flung rural villages across the country for being unable to access cancer screening and treatment facilities.

Some smart technocrats within the Jubilee administration,by just a click on the mouse of their computers, are syphoning off billions of shillings enough to equip each of the eight former provincial hospitals with state of the art cancer screening and radiotherapy machines………

In a normal country where people are collectively driven by conscience, benevolence and morality, these costly financial scandals that keep sprouting out of this government would have pushed people to drop their ethnic tags, drop their smartphones and laptops and jam our streets to demand for action, and the thieves would be rotting in jail as we speak .Unfortunately, not Kenya.

Here,we resort to our laptops and smartphones to trend silly hash tags for days on end as we exchange virulent tribal barbs in defense of or against the thieves, depending on our tribal relations.

Then the government takes advantage of our meekness and promises “thorough investigations” which go on indefinitely until we forget a 5bn.Kshs. heist and jump into another……

WHY some Kenyans WILL NOT MISS SACKED Citizen’s Kirigo Ng’arua

By Jim Bonnie

Citizen TV has made good its promise and fired some of its employees.

Among those who’ve faced the axe are Terryanne Chebet and Kirigo Ng’arua.

I like Terryanne. A sober and objective anchor. Her “Business Center” program was very informative.

I will miss it as I will miss Terryanne from our TV screens.

I also liked Terryanne’s natural short hair until she started donning those Kilimani Mums weaves.

As for Kirigo Ng’arua, good riddance.

She was an idiot. I didn’t like her. She breathed too much while anchoring news.

I don’t know why she was hired in the first place. Not only was she annoying but she dressed poorly – like Karatina shoshos.

Uhuru, Nyachae BIGGEST LOSERS in Nyacheki, Kisii BY-ELECTION, BOAST to Raila and Governor Ongwae

President Uhuru Kenyatta was the biggest loser in the Nyacheki ward by-election that was held on Wednesday, contends History Prof Nyachieo Bogonko.
Uhuru’s Jubilee Party candidate Maxwell Magoma came in second after garnering 1,173 votes compared to ODM’s Naphtali Onkoba who got 2,216 votes of the over 6,000 votes that were cast.

And on Thursday, Bogonko challenged the President to review his Jubilee campaign team in Gusii if he is serious about winning votes from the region.
“Uhuru invested heavily in Nyacheki more than the ODM party. The DP was there while all the nine MPs from Kisii County pitched tent for a month and still could not deliver,” he said.

Bogonko added: “the loss was a blow to him and just shows how Jubilee is finding difficulty in winning Gusii people. To make matters worse, a number of Jubilee MPs were chased from certain regions with residents accusing them of pulling them to Jubilee forcefully.”

He said the President would bounce back should he consider dropping a number of his point-men from Kisii region who he accused of having a ‘tainted’ reputation.
Some of the Jubilee point-men from Kisii County include DG Joash Maangi, Senator Chris Obure, and MP Richard Onyonka among other lawmakers.

Peter Kenneth: Candidate of death (Part 1)

Peter Kenneth, the Mt. Kenya presumptive candidate for Jubilee Party in 2022, is starting on a well trodden path, having watched President Uhuru successfully retreat to his ethnic cocoon and rise to the top, albeit with so much ethnic loyalty (Kalenjin) buying which nearly bankrupted the Kenyatta family, according to insiders.

Unknown to many people, it is the corruption scandals that ‘stabilized’ the Kenyatta family after the 2013 polls that has led to the current spate of scandals.

Inside government, people know President Uhuru has no “moral authority” to stem corruption; having partook of it in numerous multi-billion shilling tender deals particularly in the infrastructure, security and health sectors. But this is for another day.

Kenneth is what can be referred to as the “candidate of death”, because there is no way the Mt. Kenya bloc will vote for him to the last man without massive bloodshed from the Rift Valley, where, as we’ve been hearing from a number of Kalenjin politicians, short-changing current Deputy President is tantamount to betrayal.

“We are telling them that dawa ya deni ni kulipa. In 2022, they have to vote for Ruto,” Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago said, with no equivocation.

“We even know at night where they meet to plan games against Ruto and we will soon name those involved,” he added.

The former Gatanga MP announced his endorsement of President Uhuru’s re-election; his reason being that the president has “held the country together” and should be supported.

Despite being the most ridiculous reason, Kenneth, who just four months ago blasted Uhuru regime of patronising multi-billion shilling corruption scandal after scandal, did not see the irony of endorsing Uhuru at a time Kenyans worry more about corruption than “unity”.

Unity is smokescreen, for at no point under Uhuru regime has ‘unity’ become the gravest concern for ordinary Kenyans. In their daily lives, Kenyans are ever united, neighbours helping neighbours, regions pooling resources together in new economic blocs.

In short, Peter Kenneth’s unity bogey is  empty. He is a liar and a closet tribalist. Kenneth’s endorsement of Uhuru is bereft of any logic, if not posturing for the Kikuyu tribal vote. The same vote DP Ruto is banking on.

For Kenneth, the 2022 race, which is obviously his endgame, is more of Mt. Kenya trying to make itself relevant in a future that’s increasingly appearing bleaker and undefined than at no other time in history.

DP Ruto has never been the candidate for Mt. Kenya. Forget the opportunistic politicians praising him after every “envelop”. The miracle, however, is; how do they do away with him in the ala Kalonzo manner?

Fact is, Mwai Kibaki reneged on his MoU with Raila Odinga and Mr. Odinga moved on to fight another day, and has always avoided playing the “victim card” so that by the time 2007 elections were being held, it was like the two had never been in any political arrangement.

In other words, there was no expectation of reciprocity.

If the relationship between Kibaki and Raila throughout their marriage was ever antagonistic, Ruto has for his time under President Uhuru attempted to create a fraternal camaraderie, sometimes to the point of appearing ridiculous.

The Luo, who were cheated by Kibaki in the post-NARC era, never banked on future support of the Kikuyu, like is the case now with Kalenjins. And the Luo, unlike the Kalenjins, never faked any friendship with the Kikuyu. The Luo were always aware Mt. Kenya would not respect and keep any deal; which provided a level of acceptability for the final eventuality. The deal was not kept.

This is not the case now and is exactly why Kenneth’s candidature, announced on the same ethnic terms as Uhuru did but laced in “development-minded” rhetoric, is not a walk in the park. Because, now, the park is infested by Kalenjin wolves.

Kalenjins expect the Kikuyu to support William Ruto to the last man. For this to happen, Peter Kenneth must completely be out of the equation.

Kikuyus don’t trust DP Ruto and don’t want him to be the face of President Uhuru’s re-election; that’s why Mt. Kenya “think tanks” are desperate to rope in anyone consequential in the larger scheme of things who can quote an acceptable buying prize.

Jubilee Party, therefore, struggles between giving itself a political identity with DP Ruto in the periphery (which isn’t working) and reviving the usual Mt. Kenya “plan B” political vehicles.

It shouldn’t surprise you that PNU has conveniently “de-linked” itself from Jubilee. Same to DP. And in Kisii, Peter Kenneth’s KNC made a mini statement, meaning if Jubilee becomes unsellable in some regions, Kenneth’s party can be used for the bidding, including dividing “opposition” votes.

For now, how to put the “candidate of death” as the prime mover of Uhuru re-election remains the miracle.

Part 2: Peter Kenneth’s Corrupt Past and How it Shall be Sanitised (don’t miss).  Kenya Today is serializing tectonic political developments as they happen ahead of the 2017 polls.

”You MUST VOTE for DP Ruto in 2022, You Must REPAY our Debt”- Governor Mandago WARNS Kikuyu Community

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago says the Kikuyu community must vote for Deputy President William Ruto in 2022 “to pay a political debt of the 2013 and 2017 elections”.

He also said on Tuesday powerful politicians from Central Kenya are grooming former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth for President in 2022.

“We are telling them that, dawa ya deni ni kulipa. In 2022, they have to vote for Ruto, because we have voted for them in 2013 and we will do the same in 2017,” Mandago said.

He spoke in Kapseret during the funeral of former aspirant for Kapseret Wesley Kirorei. He was with area MP Oscar Sudi, who said they will not allow themselves to be used and dumped in 2022.

Mandago said they are aware of “schemes” to tarnish Ruto’s name to bar him from running for President in 2022.

“For those who dream they will tarnish Ruto’s name through someone called Boniface Mwangi so that by 2022 they can start giving excuses, we will not accept that,” the governor said.

He said asking Kenneth to contest in Nairobi next year is part of the plan to sabotage Ruto’s ambitions.

“We even know where they meet at night to plan moves against Ruto and we will soon name those involved,” Mandago said.

Mwangi has been sued by Ruto for defamation, but the activist has demanded records of the DP’s wealth from the Kenya Revenue Authority and the electoral agency for his defence.

The governor, a close Ruto ally, said the 2017 election will be peaceful and Jubilee deserves a second term.

Kenneth has declared he will not run for President next year but will vie for governor in Nairobi, Murang’a or Nakuru. “We’ve started seeing some plans by those asking him to vie in Nairobi and not Murang’a. We know them by name and we will reveal them soon,” Mandago said.

Ministry of Health PS THREATENS JOURNALIST who exposed 5billion THEFT

Kenyans have expressed outrage and shock at the news that Sh5 billion was looted by top Ministry of Health officials through manipulation of the Integrated Financial Management System, diversion of funds, and double payment for goods.

This follows a leaked internal audit report that showed the theft— five times the infamous Sh791 million National Youth Service scandal— also involved payments of millions of shillings to phony suppliers in the financial year (2015/2016).

(READ: Revealed: Taxpayers lose Sh5bn in NYS-style Afya House theft)

More anger was expressed on online platforms such as Twitter over Health Principal Secretary Nicholas Muraguri’s threats to a Business Daily journalist for doing the story on the graft in Afya House.

Mugambi M’Mutegi @PeterMutegi tweeted: “The Ministry of Health Sh5 billion scandal on the cover of today’s @BD_Africa makes the NYS one look like child’s play.”

Another, Felista Wangari ‏@FelistaWangari shared the link of the story online and said: “The story the Ministry of Health doesn’t want Kenyans to read: Taxpayers lose Sh5bn in NYS-style Afya House theft”

Ory Okolloh Mwangi, who tweets as ‏@kenyanpundit, said: “PS Muraguri had threatened the author of the Ministry of Health theft story.”

The Nation reached out to Dr Muraguri, who did not pick up the calls but instead sent a message: “Will revert.”

This comes after revelations of another elaborate plan to steal nearly Sh18.2 million in forged vouchers for fictitious payments by procurement officers in the Ministry of Health and those in the lab in May this year.

The payments were for “stationery, chemicals and reagents” in the National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL).

However, these payments were intercepted by some of the directors of NQCL otherwise eight companies would have pocketed over Sh18.2 million.

Seven of these companies were purporting to supply chemicals and reagent while one — Spring-Line Agencies Ltd — was to supply stationery worth Sh795, 000 to the government facility.

On this, the Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu said it was being investigated.

RESIGN

The Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) has demanded the immediate resignation and prosecution of Dr Muragari for defending wanton corruption at the Ministry and threats to a Business Daily journalist.

“Thousands of Kenyans die every second due to lack of drugs and medical equipment in our public hospitals, but a public officer who is entrusted with this very significant responsibility of saving lives can afford to defend the loss of Sh5 billion with threats to the media,” said KUJ secretary general Erick Oduor.

He added: “Besides dancing on the graves of Kenyans whose lives could have been saved by the drugs and equipment that were to be procured by the diverted funds, Dr Muraguri disclosed that the government will instead consider hacking into systems of newsrooms, and spy what journalists are doing.”

Mr Oduor called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to: “Demand accountability from such public officers who believe that espionage in newsrooms is the only cure to corruption cancer in government ministries.”
