WEALTH THROUGH THE BARREL?

So a woman hires hitmen to finish off the husband. The hitmen, for reasons well-known to themselves, reach out to the husband, confess that they have been hired to send him to the maker. The husband reports to the police. The police lay a trap, and they arrest the accomplices then later go for the woman.

Interestingly, this is a familiar story- though with different characters, a different setting, and a different plot. But it is a familiar story all the same. We all have at some point heard the pejorative phrase that behind every rich (insert community) woman, there is a dead husband. Well, that phrase is somehow inaccurate, but it paints a grotesque image of what exactly happens these sides of the Sahara.

In this particular case, their marriage was on the rocks. In fact, the marriage couldn’t be salvaged since the woman had moved out of the marital home and was cohabiting with another man. The woman has two kids. She left them behind.

They had joint properties. I can’t tell if there was any agreement on how to divide property, but they had joint properties- ranging from a flat to an electronics shop. In her mind, the woman must have imagined that if she got the husband out of the way, then she’d inherit all the property. She could use the estate to finance the lifestyle she’d dreamed of. Spoil her boyfriend. Live large. Do all she desires. Yes, she will be free as a bird. GREED.

But as fate would have it, the plan was aborted. The woman and her accomplice are charged with a conspiracy to commit murder. And they are both staring at very long prison terms. While they’ll be behind bars, the man will manage the property. He will be entitled to all the proceeds. He might remarry, while the woman will be eating badly cooked beans. But it shouldn’t be lost that this was a close shave with death.

Ladies and gentlemen, be wise. There are things you can do to avoid such unfortunate eventualities.

First off, if there is no love in a marriage and the other party is indifferent and there are no hopes of salvaging the union and one of you wants out, then don’t waste time, as soon as things hit the rocks, figure out how to divide the property, redo your will to reflect how you’d want your estate to divest in case of your demise and in light of the break up.

Our woman’s motivation to kill the estranged husband was because she knew that she could still benefit from his estate as she would claim that she is still his wife.

Second, you people need to know your partners. That is why there is courtship before marriage. Take time to study a person’s character and what they are capable of. They might not kill a person during that time so that you know they are capable of murder, but just observe from the demeanor, talks, and reactions of that person. Something will give them away if you are observant.

All is vanity, good people.

All is vanity! You may kill the man, but do you think you’ll enjoy the wealth in peace? One, you run the risk of being caught, charged, and sentenced to hang or life imprisonment, should your scheme go through.

Two, you will be haunted. You do not want to have heaps of gold in your house but with misery in the heart.

Three, you have kids. Young kids. You don’t love their father, but they do. If you love them, then you will not deny them the privilege of growing up with their father.

Four, it is wise to always pause and think before you do anything you can’t undo. Never jump into a hole before you know how deep it is- it could be a bottomless abyss. Don’t kill a person if you can’t bring them back to life should you need to. And five, you will be asked to account someday. It may not be in this world, but you must one day account for every deed and misdeed.

I am in this restaurant in town. Enjoying a not so fresh mango juice. Costs Sh 250.

Across the corner, four men men sit idly. Two are young, mostly in their early 20s. And two are in their 40s. One of the men, the 40-something old, is short, with a disgusting potbelly and a more disgusting and very stupid personality.

He has been on a phone for more than 20 minutes and he is using the most vulgar Kisii I have never used even with my peers.
From the conversation, he says, he sleeps with women without protection.

“At my age, you don’t use protection. I am not like you(the person on the receiving end) who uses protection.”

He goes on saying very disgusting and demeaning things about women. Something totally out of character for a man his age. Very Stupid. Even the younger men in the table I can see are stupefied. Benumbed even. Man, nevet seen someone his age so crass.

I am hoping there are no Kisii women in the restaurant to hear what he is saying.

He looks the type with two matatus, an apartment in Utawala and he is being cheated to run for a political seat. And his small wealth( could be loans) have given him this illusion of invincibility.

Man, how did we get here as a society?

Whereas the Unit has faced some challenges in the execution of its mandate, it is working to resolve them. The Unit and its Staff team remain intact and fully committed to their duties.

The Unit will continue to improve on the coherency and consistency of messaging in order to keep the public informed of the President’s transformative development agenda.

The Return of the Culture of Assassinations

Today’s discovery in Machakos County of the bodies of lawyer, Willie Kimani; his client, Josphat Mwenda; and their taxi driver, Joseph Muiruri is a huge stain on the conscience of this nation.

The death of the three who were last seen returning from a hearing at Mavoko Law Courts, on June 23rd, is frightening as it is alarming of a dangerous path this country is taking. The brazen disappearing and murder of a witness, a taxi driver and a well-known human rights defender is well beyond any known boundaries for any country that talks about the rule of law. Of serious concern is the fact that the court hearing had raised questions of police misuse of firearms and threats against witnesses.

I have severally alerted Kenyans to be aware of the growing pattern of violence and assassinations as a means of solving disputes, silencing commercial and political opponents, and defeating the course of Justice.

Today’s discovery cannot and should not be seen in isolation of similar events. Several deaths have occurred in the last one year that point to the phenomenon I have warned about. The complicity of organs of government in either the deaths or the subsequent cover ups must be interrogated urgently before we all sink into the abyss of bloody violence as means of resolving disputes between citizens and those in authority who legally control instruments of violence. The evidence of psychopathic torture on the bodies of the victims is as sickening as it is a wakeup call for us as countrymen to ask ourselves deep serious questions.

The murder of the three Kenyans while in pursuit of justice against official malpractice, the murder and cover up of Jacob Juma’s death as a response to his revelations about economic crimes, the murder of my daughter’s friend on June 1st as a warning to me for pointing out the cover up in Jacob Juma’s assassination, must be condemned by any sober person who cares for this country.

We as citizens of Kenya must demand accountability from our government with a clear reminder that not one Kenyan is above the law, no one has a right to terminate another citizen’s life extrajudicially, and those mandated to be in charge of our security must never be excused or let off when they turn the weapons they hold in trust against Kenyans to protect selfish personal interests.

EXPOSED: Uhuru SACKED and DISBANDED PSCU due to MASSIVE ‘misappropriation’ of funds by unit- Source

The disbandment of the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU) was occasioned by massive funds losses incurred by the agency, contrary to speculation that the team has been bungled out due to infighting among directors. Tarry, they maintain they have not been sacked.

Who are we talking about: Munyori Buku, Dennis Itumbi, Eric Ng’eno, Munira Mohammed and James Kinyua.

Sources privy to the goings on at State House reveal an internal forensic audit on the utilisation of funds by the unit ordered by Deputy Head of Public Service Nzioka Waita revealed massive misappropriation and wanton abuse of office by the directors who raked in between sh20 million to sh100 million every time President Uhuru held events within the country which the unit christened ‘state functions’.

“While traditional government protocol officers handled presidential events; they (PSCU) first dismantled this department under the then Presidential Press Service (PPS) and introduced private players who sent bills worth millions of shillings after every event,” said the source. Most of the players were private events companies registered in the transition period after March 4 elections.

The money lost in the three years since the inception of the unit is believed to be in billions.

In 2014, the cost of hosting a presidential function in Kibera shocked the country when it was revealed it cost taxpayers sh50 million. The event organisers, Transcend Media Ltd, claimed they had created the ‘concept’. The event did not last 50 minutes.

Transcend Media Ltd. is among firms under investigations by the Economic Crimes and Anti-Money Laundering Unit for criminal activities related to NYS.

What PSCU did was to take away presidential public events and turn them into private money minting occasions. So brazen was their temerity to loot public funds trough managing the glitz and glamour of presidential propaganda that it went beyond just state functions associated with President Uhuru to First Lady’s Beyond Zero events.

Events Management under PSCU was an avenue to make hay while the sun shines. It had became a full directorate. Their actions were validated by the ever increasing need to project Uhuru’s events in the most romanticised manner.

Sometimes, it bordered on the ludicrous as red carpets would be rolled even when the function was a two minute planting of a commemorative tree seedling or the opening of a public toilet in Machakos. Sources reveal PSCU directors, alongside former Youth Enterprise Fund boss Bruce Odhiambo would call blue chip companies and parastatals demanding money, especially during Beyond Zero events. If money was not forthcoming in this manner, they would raid other government coffers, especially the NYS and the un-audited ‘security’ accounts of the Ministry of Interior.

The Kenyan Weekly has gathered that the first meeting between Nzioka Waita, the corporate sector blue boy poached from Safaricom and sent to Tony Blair themed Presidential Delivery Unit then whisked to the top – almost top – of the civil service ended in disarray when the directors walked out on him.

This was not the first time that PSCU directors walked out in such meetings. It had happened before. The recipient of their dubious honour was Manoah Esipisu, the official Spokesperson of President Uhuru.

Esipisu, according to multiple sources, had declined to be the mouth piece of PSCU. He could not read their press statements, most of which were filled with high sounding verbiage, curse words and bar chatter.

He had been poached from the Commonwealth. He had the experience to communicate Uhuru’s new agenda. His misfortune was that he came AFTER (emphasis mine) Uhuru had won. PSCU directors viewed him as an outsider; a beneficiary of their toil and sweat; a spoiler, a demagogue, a highly cultured folk for the murky underworld of presidential sh*t splitting.

Buku had been Uhuru’s PA when he served as Finance Minister. Ng’eno had been a beneficiary of Kalenjin slot at the Presidency while Itumbi had his histories with the ICC which served the boss, it can be argued.

When they lost favour with Esipisu; and later Waita, it was the beginning of the end. Not the end.

‘BITTER and ANGRY’ Dennis Itumbi DEMANDS APOLOGY from World Top media the New York Times

Dennis Itumbi has given the New York Times a seven-day ultimatum for an apology over remarks in an article about the President’s ICC case.

Itumbi, the director of digital innovations and diaspora communications in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s office, was suspended on Wednesday.

He asked the media house to apologise or face a defamation suit over making references to him in the article, saying he was not interviewed.

In a letter to the media house on Thursday, Itumbi’s lawyers said the “offending words” were false since their client was not interrogated on any subject.

“You did not contact our client to comment on the issue contrary to your assertions. Your publication was therefore malicious and part of your sustained policy and your self-serving vendetta,” said lawyer Moses Chelanga.

Chelanga said the publication was calculated to disparage and injure Itumbi’s reputation and cause him scandal, odium and contempt in his personal capacity.

He said the Times portrayed Itumbi as one who interfered with the ICC witnesses protection programme.

He also said the media house made it seem the former director “exposed ICC witnesses; killed, abducted and enforced disappearance of ICC witnesses; bribed ICC witnesses; interfered with administration of justice; sabotaged the situation of the Republic of Kenya in the ICC [and] is corrupt.”

The lawyer said his client’s reputation and status as a long-standing public servant have been seriously damaged.

“He has suffered considerable distress and embarrassment to himself, his career, his calling, and his family,” said Chelanga.

Itumbi asked New York Times to admit liability for the “false and malicious publication” and remove the words he found offending from the online post.

His lawyer said the apology should be published by the media house, after they approve the text.

Chelanga further said the Times will be held liable for the injury and loss Itumbi suffers. He said the amount will be communicated in due course.

The President attacked the media house over the article by James Verini printed under the headline ‘Trial and Error’ and published online with the headline ‘ The Prosecutor and the President ‘.

The article is about the ICC’s the failure to prosecute Uhuru on crimes against humanity charges concerning the 2007/8 post-election violence.

The President, who was adversely mentioned, also demanded that the media house apologise over the remarks.

In a statement on Sunday, he termed the article “ridiculous, malicious, vindictive and unprofessional” and said the media house relied on “the fanciful accounts of unreliable individuals”.

He said the Times did not contact anyone at State House or interview Itumbi yet referred to him.

But the media house said it will not apologise over the remarks as they made every effort to ensure the accuracy of what they publish.

New York Times noted: “Itumbi’s investigation by the International Criminal Court is a matter of public record. As Verini’s article notes, he was not charged.”
