It now appears that the 2015 appointment of DP Ruto research supervisor Prof. Jenesio Ikindu Kinyamario as Chair of Moi University Council, an appointment which the DP himself lobbied, was to let the Professor do for him his research.
Prof. Kinyamario is a UoN Ecology lecturer and the PhD supervisor of Ruto.
His area of specialization is “Ecology of arid and semi arid zones with special interest on bioproductivity and human/livestock/wildlife interactions and pastoralism” as posted on UoN website.
The irony of it is that DP Ruto, who failed to convince his research Defence panel that the work he was presenting before then was his original work, has been everywhere insulting other leaders, particularly Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho as “academic dwarfs”.
The sad part is Prof. Kanyamairo lobbied tirelessly to have Ruto’s research accepted by UoN, despite the low quality and lack of originality.
EACC should move with speed and investigate both DP Ruto and Prof Kanyamairo…but Alai once said EACC boss Halakhe Waqo himself also has a fake degree.
A suspect Douglas Nyakundi who claims to have information about the killing of businessman Jacob Juma is led away by CID officers after he was arraigned at a Milimani law court yesterday.Photo/Monicah Mwangi
DP William Ruto was yet again dragged into Jacob Juma’s murder after a suspect claiming to be his employee yesterday sensationally linked his office to the assassination.
The police obtained court orders to continue holding Douglas Nyakundi for four days so they can investigate the latest twist in murder of the anti-government and anti-Ruto whistleblower.
The suspect, according to an affidavit filed in court yesterday, is said to have delivered to rights activist Boniface Mwangi a letter containing a confession on how Juma’s murder was planned and executed.
The man, claiming to be a spy and a messenger in the office of the DP, told Mwangi he had been sent by his boss, identified only as Mr Rono, to deliver the sensational letter to him.
The letter titled “Self confession”, the court heard, contains names of the people believed to have had a hand in the May 5 assassination.
Juma’s body was found in his car outside outside Lenana School.
Nyakundi appeared before senior principal magistrate Teresa Nyangena.
He was arrested on November 30 and will remain in custody at the Kilimani police station at police request.
Investigators told the court Nyakundi demanded the activist deposit an unspecified sum in his bank account so his boss Rono could reveal more details.
He would also provide adossier to assist Mwangi in the defamation case filed against him by the DP, the court was told.
Nyakundi also said Rono has credible information Mwangi could be murdered in a stage-managed traffic accident.
DCI officer Philip Mwangi requested 14 more day to determine the veracity of the letter and if indeed the two men work at the DP’s office.
The officer said Mwangi recorded his conversation with Nyakundi.
Wondered why Church is never raising a finger over massive corruption in Kenya? Wondered where fiece bishops disappered to? Ok, a dioscess received 34.5million from DP Ruto 34.5, Governor Tunai 6.5m, Governor Mandango 3.4milllion, DP Ruto PA Farouk 3.4 Million etc etc
ODM STATEMENT: UHURU AND RUTO MUST MIND THEIR LANGUAGE OR BURN THE COUNTRY:
On this first day of the last month of the year, I wish to draw the attention of Kenyans and the international community at large to a pattern building up in the country and whose consequences will be grim if not stop now. We sound this warning for the record.
The public utterances, the body language and the display of raw anger by President Uhuru Kenyatta over the past few weeks have left many Kenyans baffled and disgusted at the new low the President has hit and the dangerous direction he seems to be taking the country.
In this, the President finally joined his deputy Mr. William Ruto, who for four years has been behaving like a jilted lover, throwing insults and spewing venom at everyone who holds a different opinion from his.
Their prime target is particularly the Opposition leader Hon Raila Odinga and all the other ODM leaders seen to be strongly supportive of the former Prime Minister.
It does not matter that much of the insults Mr. Ruto has been throwing around are plain lies, cheap propaganda and uneducated and ill-founded misinformation.
The language President Uhuru and Deputy Ruto are resorting to is darker, violent, threatening, demeaning to themselves and opponents and more prone to insults and grandstanding.
Uhuru and Ruto have called Mr. Odinga all sorts of names that should ordinarily be unprintable, words that should never emerge from a president or deputy president or any leader for that matter.
Words like stupid, wicked, witch, small man, mad man, insane cannot be the language of conducting the business of the presidency. These cannot be the language of civilized politics and transformation that Uhuru and Ruto purport to represent.
Yet such language has become the stock-in-trade of the President and his deputy. The language of Me, Myself and I, which President Uhuru and Deputy Ruto are resorting to and the accompanying chest-thumping is sending the dark message of “we are in power, what will you?” It is the language of impunity that is sure to lead to doom for the country.
Like other citizens of civilized nations, Kenyans have long expected a President and a Deputy President to be dignified, measured and solemn in language, demeanour and action. Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto have defied all these expectations.
The choice of words by the President and his deputy Ruto, coupled with their very clear attempts to weep up ethnic emotions and hate targeting Mr. Raila Odinga defies everything we have come to expect of leaders and sets a worrying tone and trend ahead of the elections next August. The last time we saw that kind of language and directing of hate against one man was in the run up to 2007 elections. The rest, as they say, is history that lives with us to date.
We are once again seeing the President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto turning to this language and political mobilsation laced with hate, vendetta and desperation.
Unfortunately, this trend seems either invisible to or sanctioned by State agencies. None of the agencies that have been quick to issue warnings to Opposition leaders have lifted a finger against Uhuru and Ruto.
A message is being sent that it is fine to throw insults and engage in hate speech as long as the target is Mr. Odinga and the Opposition.
A message being sent to Kenyans that the Presidency gives one the right to lord it over competitors and the right to act with impunity and rally support by whipping up ethnic emotions and hate.
The message Kenyans are getting is that in the lead up to 2017, those who are opposed to Uhuru and Ruto are on their own. It is a very dangerous message because the Opposition leaders being insulted and their supporters will somehow look for ways to defend their beliefs, their political choices, their dignity and their candidates.
It is up to Uhuru and Ruto whether they continue on that path and force the opposition to respond in kind with attendant consequences or they stop it, get civil and retrieve the country from the very dangerous abyss they are driving us into. As things stand now, the President and his deputy are lighting a fire that they will not be able to extinguish. Unless they stop, Uhuru and Ruto will burn Kenya. If it comes to that, they will have no one but themselves to blame and they must be prepared to shoulder responsibility.
May God help Kenya.

ODM NATIONAL CHAIRMAN,

WHY CORD WILL NOT ATTEND KEPSA ELECTION CONFERENCE:
Carole Kariuki, NBS, HSC Chief Executive Officer,
The Kenya Private Sector Alliance.
Dear Madam.
RE: INVITATION TO THE JOINT LEADERS SUMMIT ON PEACEFUL ELECTION, NATIONAL COHESION AND UNITY FOR SOCIAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO BE HELD ON 2ND AND 3RD DECEMBER 2016 AT LEISURE LODGE RESORT MOMBASA.
We refer to your invitation to attend the Summit.
Unfortunately, we feel constrained to decline your invitation.
Firstly we do not view your Organization, KEPSA, as having the requisite impartiality to lead a national non-partisan discourse on the topics under discussion. We view KEPSA as an appendage of the Jubilee Administration.
Over the last several years, you have not shown any interest to discuss with the Opposition the concerns they have regarding peaceful elections, national cohesion and unity.
You have never shown interest in our public engagements on our programs beyond cosmetic appearance at best and you have not treated the Opposition as a legitimate entity with meaningful contribution to our national development.
The only time we get to hear from you is when the disagreements over national issues between the government and the Opposition generate political heat that threatens the tranquility in which the interest of your members thrive.
Instead, you have been particularly available to engage the government on these same issues and to support its programs to the exclusion of the Opposition.
Numerous are the times your alliance has held discourse with the President at State House and you have become a common feature in every other function hosted by the National Government.
A good example of your impartiality is the way you have dealt with the issue of corruption in Kenya. While the Opposition continues to put pressure on the National Government to exhibit the political will to deal with corruption in public offices, KEPSA went into a partnership with the president to divert attention away from the government by blaming members of the public as co- conspirators in the corruption engaged in by public officers.
This is the same impartiality you have practiced on the issue of elections. Your last concern on this matter was when we were holding public protests to force the government to accept electoral reforms. We did not see KEPSA’s interest at all in Opposition’s attempt to introduce electoral reforms by way of referendum.
After the negotiations begun, you went underground and are only resurfacing now because new conflicts have emerged concerning the government’s commitment to the implementation of the issues agreed on in the negotiation.
Indeed, your discussion is limited to “peaceful election” while it should be primarily on “credible election”. If you ensure that there are credible elections, you will not have to be concerned about peaceful elections because the latter is an inevitable result of the former.
But it is inconceivable that you can have peaceful elections that do not emanate from credible elections. Ironically, the most peaceful elections are held under the worst dictatorships, with predetermined results.
As Opposition, we would wish to have a genuine engagement with you on national issues but not under your auspices and not while you continue to have a partisan approach to issues of national importance. We also encourage and engagements as political parties, not Government and Opposition.
Our country is crying for honest and credible referees on the way to 2017 elections. We do not view KEPSA as such a referee.
RT. HON RAILA ODINGA, EGH, ODM PARTY/ CORD COALITION LEADER;
HON KALONZO MUSYOKA, CO-PRINCIPAL
SEN.MOSES WETANGULA, CO-PRINCIPAL.
DECEMBER 1, 2016.
Uhuru and Ruto are stooping too low. By making Raila their point of reference in every meeting they preside over, they are inadvertently boosting his ratings. His excellency the President and the Deputy President should leave the dirty work of responding to and abusing Raila to their hatchet men, the likes of Aden Duale, Kindiki Kithure, Mike Sonko and Murkomen.
The Presidency is the highest office in the land and demands that the occupant be above politics of division, hatred and mudslinging. While presiding over some harambee or Party conventions Uhuruto unashamedly and derogatorily call the Opposition Chief names such as Mganga, jamaa wa vitendawili, the man who thrives on poverty and division and other unsavoury terms.
Just because Raila is taking them task on runaway corruption involving the President’s kin and the Deputy President’s aides.
They want to be set free to loot public coffers at will, without as much as raising a finger against it. The list keeps on ballooning with the passage of each day, Eurobond, chicken gate, NYS, (which has refused to die a natural death), Mafya house and Kilifi scandals.
All these involve mind boggling sums of money running into billions of shillings yet Kenyans are facing starvation, cancer patients are forced to travel to India for lack of facilities, our children studying under trees and inside caves.
The Jubilee duo are behaving like the proverbial ostrich, which buried it’s head in the sand. Instead of tackling corruption they are giving excuses and dragging their feet. The onus of reigning in the scourge remains at the President’s doorstep. Giving excuses that Cord led counties are corrupt, therefore Raila should not criticise the National Government is being escapist, naive and downright petty.
The government has all the machinery under its disposal to arrest and charge the Lords of corruption whether in National government or Cord led counties.
Oh! Raila receives stipends from Cord counties, he is protecting corrupt Governors from ODM counties etc. This is nonsense. Raila cannot stoop too low as to start training his sights on counties. The scandals in the National government keep his diary full. And if they have evidence that he receives money from cord led counties, they should do the necessary instead of lamenting, whining and abusing him.
This just goes to confirm that the Jubilee command is not interested in fighting corruption because they and their Lieutenants/relatives are major beneficiaries. Instead of making Raila their topic at every public meeting, they should tell us about their manifesto, the steps they are taking to minimize corruption, tribalism, unemployment, hunger and insecurity. Wananchi want bread and butter issues highlighted, not mere rhetoric.
