Five NASA protestors shot during the anti-IEBC demonstrations have been detained at St.Jospeh Omboo Hospital due to unpaid hospital bills.

St. Joseph Omboo hospital nurse in charge Gladys Nyaboke said the five still hospitalized include the 8 year old boy shot during the anti-IEBC demonstrations are still recuperating at the facility.

She added that the hospital charges for the five are still accruing each and every day and it’s likely to increase more if they are not discharged in due course.

The five wounded protestors have appealed to the government and other well-wishers to help them foot the hospital bill before it accrues further.

Mr.Benard Otieno who was shot on the hand during the anti-IEBC demonstration said he was discharged last week Friday unfortunately he has not been released because of the unpaid bills.

The victims are among over 15 people shot by the police during the anti-IEBC demonstration last week Friday within Migori town.

The last week confrontation between the police and the anti-IEBC demonstrators in Migori also left one person who was shot on the head dead.

”Dear Kebyans, You Have Two Situations Only; Break Or Limp Through The Mess”

We are now faced with two situations, as a country. Go with Uhuru Kenyatta’s fraudulent win and limp through a divided country till 2022; or let all the chips fall and rebuild anew.

Whichever option you choose – and there is no third option here – there are bound to be grave, unmitigated, consequences.

If you choose to accept Uhuru Kenyatta’s illegitimate second term, you shall have given your seal of approval to a deeply divided country where the tribe(s) in power run riot over the tribes out of power, a badly wounded health-care system where Kenyans have to sell their property to fly abroad for minor ailments, a collapsing economy with half the country jobless, and a lawless nation where the state dress ethnic militia with police attire to hack down those opposed to its rulership.

An acceptance of Uhuru Kenyatta’s second term is an admission that you are powerless to change what’s happening around you, and that you are ready to suffer the consequences of your cowardice, which includes, but not limited to, death of your kith and kin.

If you choose the second option; of letting the chips fall and rebuilding this country from the bottom-up; you have chosen the path of temporary pain for permanent gain. The pain will surely come, because no status quo has ever sat back to watch it being annihilated. There will be inflamed terror on enemies of the state, real and imagined. Investors will flee. The shilling will tank. All of us will be penniless. The country will come down to its knees. Many will starve. People will die. But in the end, the rain will come. And the grass will grow.

People are asking about the third option of Raila Odinga sitting with Uhuru Kenyatta and negotiating for a uniting truce. Your answer can be found in 2008. Mwai Kibaki steals the elections in broad daylight, swears himself at night, and instigates a blood-run. The violence is so bad everyone is scared of the economy collapsing, Raila Odinga is sweet-talked into a raw deal and a handshake stops the mayhem.

We now know, with the benefit of hindsight, that the handshake did not solve a thing. In fact, the only thing the handshake managed to achieve was to make William Ruto so mad with Raila Odinga for letting the chance to rule this country go, so much so that it did not take William Ruto much time to wash hands with Raila Odinga, whom he called a coward, and form his own political party.

History has consistently taught us that we may attempt to bandage the wound to prevent the pus from smelling, but without convincingly treating the wound, it will continue to fester, the limb will develop gangrene and one day the surgeon will recommend that it be chopped off.

Whichever way you look at it, whether you are team optimism or team pessimism or team opportunism, that is the decision we are faced with, as a country, right now. The patient has checked herself into hospital for another round of dressing and the nurse has to decide whether to continue with the replacement of the bandage or book the patient for the surgical table. But there is one serious problem.

The nurses are currently on strike.

RE: If Children are Society’s Future, then Kenya is in Serious Trouble!

There is a video doing the rounds on social media that shows school children in Nairobi caught in the cross-fire between protestors and assault-rifle-brandishing/billy-club-swinging Kenyan Police donning the combat fatigue currently in fashion among Jubilant women.

In one sequence of action, a soldier/policeman carries a young girl who appears overwhelmed or overcome by the emotions and intensity of the drama while in another sequence, two soldiers lead, presumably to safety, yet another schoolgirl.

At the beginning of the video, which some have already dismissed as “edited”, it is the foreign-looking journalists who (initially) seek to protect the children by crowding them against the wall even as they continue to do their job i.e. take pictures of the incident.

I was not surprised to see this i.e. the two foreign/white-looking journalists actively shielding, protecting and leading the besieged children way from the danger towards safety. The sequence was a vivid metaphor for how much we, Kenyans, value one another’s life.

Memo to All: We do not value one another’s life; certainly NOT the lives of our children.

The forces shown in the video are commanded by the same Jubilee government that sent riot police to forcibly remove children from land that belonged to their school BUT had been grabbed (?) by one of the party’s mandarin – DP William Ruto according to rumors.

Let me be categorical:

Uhuru Kenyatta, William Ruto and Jubilee have lost any moral ground upon which to govern and/or admonish anyone on propriety and fidelity to what is and isn’t acceptable comportment – definitely neither of them can tell me tish!

The same goes for their supporters.

And I will gleefully respond to any such attempts much like African-American women are now responding to white women. This (latter) group gave 53% of their vote to the p$$y-grabbing incompetent misogynistic bully currently in White House in the 2016 election vs. Hillary Clinton.

And as Karma eventually does to selfish and compassionless people, the same white women are now bemoaning the fact that those unsavory qualities are being reflected in his policy proposals including breaking up families (DACA), healthcare for those with pre-existing conditions, a less belligerent/confrontational foreign policy and a generation of racist xenophobes who think it is okay to support white supremacists!

Sistas (Black women) in response are telling them “We tried to warn You” that mtoto wa nyoka ni nyoka but you voted your tribe instead of what’s good for the larger country!

As I was watching the video, I wondered whether these children, obviously traumatized, are among the many thousands primed to sit for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

I also wondered how events of the last four years; certainly of the last three months would impact their performance in the test.

Let me offer a prediction that is (a) already playing out, (b) has repeatedly been reflected in surveys and (c) will continue to play out thanks to the prevailing culture:

Kenya will continue to raise generations of children who embrace corruption, tax evasion and a uniquely Kenyan desire to “make money by any means possible” – this according to a January 2016 survey by The Aga Khan University titled “The Kenya Youth Survey Report”.

The silver lining in the survey is that the youth – 40% of them – “identify as Kenyans first” with “less than 5%…..” identifying by their ethnicity first.

On the other hand, the current corps of youth who came of age shortly after the post-election violence of 2007/8 have spent the last decade seeing in their parents get rewarded for the very qualities they teach them to abhor and utterly reject!

Sample this:

– Are you a crimes-against-humanity suspect? Well run for the highest office in the land AND win thanks to the support of the mothers, fathers and “grown-ups” among us!
– Did you perpetrate violence against those who disagree with your views? Justify said violence as “protecting your businesses”.
– Maybe you siphoned off billions from your place of employment? No worries, play victim, get “excused” by a doctor and when the publicity subsides, run for public office AND win!
– Did you grab land that doesn’t belong to you? Claim “you are being finished” and watch the case get lost in the corrupt Department of Land and/or equally for-sale court system.

Like Americans who this past election cycle elected into office, someone with qualities they teach and preach to their children NOT to do develop, Kenya’s children have, as the face of their president, his deputy, and the CS of Education, a trio of men who, in any civilized society, would be facing criminal charges if not already locked up.

Uhuru Kenyatta, William Ruto and Fred Matiang’i would most certainly be the subjects of a Robert Mueller-like investigation for abuse of power/office, violating the human/civil rights of those expressing their democratic rights or co-defendants in negligent homicide cases!

So as Kenya’s children sit for their examinations over the next couple of days, let me wish them all the best even as I encourage them to ignore the behavior they’ve seen displayed by those supposed to be role models.

Let me also leave their parents and adult population with the words of the Lebanese-American poet Kahlil Gibran:

“Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself……Their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams…..Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness.” – The Prophet.

Hon Rachel Shebesh Husband Shot Inside Their Home In Nairobi, Police Investigating

Police are investigating an incident in which a licensed gun holder claims he shot himself in the leg during a safety precaution routine in his house along Dennis Pritt Road, Kilimani area in Nairobi.
The husband to former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachael Shebesh is said to have shot him self in their house on Tuesday night.
Mr Frank Ambundo Shebesh is a licensed gun holder. He allegedly shot him self in the left leg in the thigh and above his left knee.
The victim is in hospital with a bullet lodged in the thigh and police are yet to talk to him. Police are investigating to know if the shooting happened elsewhere before the holder made the claims it took place in his house.
Another possibility is that the gun was in the lap when he tried to remove it.
“We are looking at all angles and if it is possible for one to shoot himself in such a place while conducting safety precautions of a pistol. Unless a miracle happened or he pulled the trigger while the weapon was in waist,” said an officer aware of the probe.
Mr Shebesh had a Glock pistol at the time of the said incident. The weapon with 12 bullets have been taken away.
Another official said a Glock pistol has one of the best safety precautions. A team has been formed to investigate the incident.
The victim is admitted to a city hospital and doctors were preparing for an operation to remove bullet lodged in the leg. Cases of licensed gun holders misusing their guns are rampant with little action to correct the mess. The private gun holder have resisted attempts to reform the sector.
There are also cases of misuse of official weapons issued to state agents.

To the families who lost loved ones across the country irrespective of their religion, tribe or political party affiliation, I have pledged a personal contribution of 100,000 shillings

The County Government of Nairobi will look into ways of helping the business people who were affected by the skirmishes to get back on their feet.

Business Mogul Chris Kirubi Air Lifted To USA For Medical Attention, In Critical Condition

Chris Kirubi, businessman and philanthropist was reportedly airlifted to the United States (US) in critical condition for an operation on Wednesday.

The Centum Investment Director had been admitted for 12 days at the Nairobi Hospital.

Earlier reports indicated that the 76 year old entrepreneur was fighting for his life at the Karen Hospital

Veteran Award Winning Radio presenter Uncle Fred Obachi Machoka aka the Blackest Man In Black Africa has vehemently condemned yesterday’s attack on journalists at Wipper Headquarters by goons masquerading as NASA supporters.

Speaking from the famous Fred’s Ranch in Isinya where he shoots his popular TV Show Roga Roga, Machoka said it is not only inhuman, but also disrespectful to attack innocent journalists who were simply doing their job.

Machoka was referring to an incident where Francis Gachiri was roughed up, beaten up and nearly squeezed balls for his open partisanry when reporting.

Machoka also lauded the NASA leadership for condemning the act. He nevertheless warned some quarters against rushing to condemn the attack of journalists from a certain region of the country but keep quiet when journalists from other parts of the country are attacked even by the police.

Here is what Mr. Machoka had to say…

“Anyone who believes in free media must condemn the roughing up of journalists Francis Gachuri and Jane Gatwiri by some goons at Wiper Headquarters today. I am glad that the NASA leaders present took time to recognise and condemn the unfortunate event. Their apologies to the affected individuals and relevant media houses as well as to all Kenyans (accepted or not) is something commendable” Said Machoka.

What’s not commendable though, is the selective quick fire reaction from certain quarters which found it meaningless when other journalists, specifically Duncan Khaemba, Rashid Ronald and Faith Matete, were molested by the security forces. It’s this kind of behaviour that makes other fellows think (and foolishly so), that it is OK to take the law into their own hands. Intimidation and harassment of ALL journalists is wrong…VERY WRONG” He added.
