Drama as Ruto Supports Hon Aisha Jumwa while Governor Kingi Supports Hon Baya for Kilifi 2022

The race to succeed Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has taken shape in what promises to be a thrilling but also messy duel pitting two MPs – Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Owen Baya (Kilifi North).

The two legislators, who are allied to Deputy President William Ruto and Mr Kingi, are already engaged in open campaigns despite the next elections being four years away.

The governor is said to favour Mr Baya while Ruto is for ‘Mama Rada’ Aisha Jumwa.

However, the showdown looms following displeasure by Jubilee Party-leaning politicians at the coast by suggestions that the Deputy President considers Ms Jumwa his point person in the region.

Many believe there are more established politicians like former MP Gideon Mung’aro and Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, and even Kingi himself. But the rivalry between Jumwa and Baya has been playing out, with each going out of their way to win over the electorate by engaging in politics even outside their constituencies.

At a recent fundraiser presided over by Ruto, Jumwa took a swipe at Baya.

“Today I will not talk what I always talk… we are here to accomplish the dream of my brother’s (Baya) grandfather but I want to tell you that you have a hard task in 2022…,” Jumwa said.

Jumwa is on record saying how she brought Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang to be the chief guest at an education day who commissioned the construction of Kakuyuni Girls Secondary School.

She also bought a bus for Kakuyuni Boys Secondary School. Last month, Jumwa was the guest of honour at the launch of a local women’s group that brought together women from Malindi, Magarini, Rabai, Kilifi North, Kilifi South, Ganze and Kaloleni.

“I want to congratulate the women and I will give them my full support in everything they need. They have told me their challenges and I have promised that I will register the group as a limited company for them to trade with the county government,” said the MP.

“I have talked to Governor Kingi about my being here at the launch and he asked me come and listen to them and promised to support them to get tenders from the county.”

Baya has also initiated several development projects, including the construction of Kiwandani Boys Secondary School in Kilifi and buying a bus for Marafiki Secondary School.

Engineer, Hon Raila- Shuts Up Ruto over His Academic Qualifications after Visit to ex German University

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has silenced critics of his academic credentials by visiting his former college, Otto Von Guericke University Magdeburg, in Germany.

Raila has severally found himself on the receiving end from Deputy President William Ruto who challenged him to make his post secondary education certificates public.

Through his Twitter handle- Raila indicated he had visited his former post graduate college on invitation from former colleagues he had schooled with at ‘Technical School’ in Magdeburg, East Germany, where he graduated in 1970 with a Mechanical engineering degree.

“I visited my Alma Mater the Otto Von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany following an invitation from my former colleagues who presented me with a book on the history of the school. I also met my former supervisor Adolf Neubaue at the Mechanical Engineering lab,” read Raila’s tweet.

His numerous critics had questioned how Raila could claim he studied Otto Von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany in early 1970s yet the institution was established in 1993.

On Monday, September 10, 2017, Ruto who had been mocked for being unable to graduate with a PhD degree after failing to satisfy his supervisors savagely hit out at Raila saying he had never attended school.

“Raila is saying is proposing we reschedule national exams on ground that children won’t die just be cause he wants to keep on politicking. We could understand him because anyway he never went to school,” Ruto shamelessly stated.

The institution however intervened by clarifying that indeed Raila was among their popular alumni at Technical School, Madgeburg which was later chartered and renamed Otto-vonGuericke University, Magdeburg.

Leave Joho Alone or Else! KANU to DP Ruto and his Tangatanga Attack Dogs

It seems the new found bromance between Baringo senator Gideon Moi and Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has opened a new political battlefront with DP William Ruto’s allies in the Rift Valley.

A day after Joho’s sojourn in the region, including a rare visit to ex-President Daniel Moi, a section of Ruto’s lieutenants have thrown punches at Joho in what promises to be a nasty political duel.

Yesterday, Kanu, which has signaled a political union with Joho, said it will not give the Deputy President any breathing space ahead of the 2022 presidential polls.

A furious Kanu secretary general Nick Salat told the Star Ruto’s lieutenants are bitter with Joho because they want the 2022 politics to revolve around them only.

“They want the preserve of 2022 to be just about them. When Kenyans are out there saying why the direction they are seeking is not the best for this country, it really touches their raw nerve…But we are going to ensure we do not give them any breathing space,” Salat said.

“It’s no longer a hidden secret that we [Kanu] are going to feature prominently in 2022. We are joining up with the rest of Kenyans to try and clean up the country.” On Saturday, Gideon welcomed Joho to Kabarak, where he met his father, Moi, a rare opportunity that Ruto was dramatically denied in May this year.

The Mombasa governor then proceeded with a number of activities in the Rift Valley. He visited Pokot and Samburu counties, where he scoffed at leaders engaging in graft.

At a fundraising in Tiaty, Joho appeared to throw punches at Ruto, blaming high-level graft for the underdevelopment in the Rift Valley.

But shortly after his departure, Ruto’s allies took him on, linking him to drug trafficking, a claim the governor has repeatedly denied.

“I want to answer Joho. He should not talk about Kenyan leadership. You should not talk about development and the leadership of Kenya,” Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi said.

In a Facebook post, Senate Minority leader Kipchumba Murkomen said Joho was hitting at Moi, who was President for a record 24 years.

Murkomen said Moi’s home county of Baringo houses one of the poorest constituencies in Kenya.

“You can’t eat ugali at the old man’s home and shortly insult him, his son and his 24 years legacy. Show some little respect, Mr. Joho, to the old man and his son,your running-mate,” Murkomen said.

Trouble started when the vocal legislator sent out a tweet saying that he did not know how it felt coming from a rich home, but he would ask his kids when they grow up.

“I don’t know how it feels to come from a rich home with a hardworking, handsome, charismatic and ambitious dad but I will ask my kids,” read Babu’s tweet.

A woman only identified as Lennah then responded to the MP’s tweet saying that Babu should also not forget to ask his children how having a dad with bat ears.

“Don’t forget to ask them, how it feels when you have a dad with ears of a bat,” she said.

Babu Owino who did not take her comment lightly then hit back at the woman telling her not to forget to ask her kids how it felt to have a mom with a forehead almost the size of Kasarani stadium.

“You too shouldn’t forget to ask your kids how it feels to have a mum with a forehead bigger than Kasarani Stadium,” he responded.
