BREAKING: Governor Obado DENIED BAIL To Remain In Prison Till 8th October

Migori Governor Okoth Obado to be remanded at Industrial Area GK prison for 11 more days after High rejected his application for bail on Thursday.

Judge Jessie Lessit ruled that the High Court was obliged to deny him bail on accounts of public influence, security and possible interference with the witnesses accounts. Obado together with the two other suspects (Michael Oyamo, Caspel Obiero) to appear before the court on October 8, 2018.

Obado has been in police custody since Friday, September 21 when he was arrested in connection with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and detained at Gigiri Police Station in Nairobi.

On Monday, September 24 he was charged with the murder of Sharon, a count he denied. The court directed he be detained at the Industrial Area Remand Prison pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.

During the hearing of Obado’s bail application on Tuesday, senior investigation officer from the homicide unit, Clement Mwangi opposed the governor’s release arguing that there was a high likelihood of him interfering with and intimidating key prosecution witnesses if released on bail.

Mr. Mwangi had further submitted that investigations were still ongoing and that investigators would be proceeding back to Migori County offices for further investigations which include interrogating Obado’s close family members, and county employees.

“The release of the accused person on bail pending hearing and determination of the trial is not absolute and is at the discretion of the court,” Mwangi said.

The officer had indicated that in the view of the intricate relationship between Obado and confessions recorded by some suspects, it would be extremely dangerous to release the accused on bail adding that he is a serious danger to the society and witnesses that may appear in the matter.

Lawyer Antony Oyugi had predicted that it will be hard for the high court to grant bail owing to Obado’s position/influence in this matter;

The court grants him bail, Oyamo is also granted bail and so is Caspal Obiero. Obado resumes his duties as Governor while Oyamo and Obiero still work as his PAs. Prosecution witnesses include staff under Obado’s employment. The prosecution has also indicated that investigations aren’t concluded. Sharon is set to be buried anytime from now. Meanwhile Obado’s supporters and ‘haters’ are sizing each other up both outside the court and in the villages. These bail applications are ‘complicated!’– Antony Oyugi

”when he appears in court on the 8th Oct 2018 his lawyers will have to make a fresh application for bail. The application will be argued out and the prosecution will of course oppose with arguments to support their position. The court will have to deliver a ruling on this. These guys should expect to be out of remand AFTER the eighth. Not on the eighth”.– Oyugi added

Dear Bishop Ngarama & Mrs Ngarama,

No one knows why bad things happen to those so innocent and whose life has hardly begun. For now it will have to remain the painful mystery that it is. Losses like this can make us challenge our faith; however, this is precisely the time when our faith needs to be in its strongest.

I am praying that your faith will help you through this very difficult time. I pray that you will find the strength to get you through your grief and sadness.

In thinking about your loss of only daughter Monica , I would like to leave you with the oft quoted words of the poet Ellen Brenneman, “We can’t know why the lily has so brief a time to bloom in the warmth of sunlight’s kiss upon its face before it folds into its fragrance and bids the world good night to rest its beauty in a gentler place. But we can know that nothing that is loved is ever lost and no one who has touched a heart can really pass away because some beauty lingers on in each memory of which they’ve been a part.”

‘I have Forgiven Jowi, He Raped and Killed My Daughter’- Monica’s Father Pastor Ngarama

The father of slain Kilimani beauty Monica Kimani has revealed that the deceased was raped before shew as brutally murdered.

Monica’s brother George Thiru Kimani said that her sister’s pant had been torn in parts. He said that her hands and legs were tied with her phone lying on her head.

Speaking to People Daily, her father Pastor Paul Ngarama confirmed that his daughter had been raped before the monstrous murder.

“Those who brutally cut the life of my daughter disrespected God who is the giver of life. Whoever did it was not a friend to her because a friend cannot rape,” he said before revealing that Joseph Irungu’s arrest saved many girls from dehumanisation “We prayed and God has answered our prayer. Kuria (a suspect in the case) has many girlfriends and his arrest has saved them from dehumanisation.”

Paul Ngarama, who is a bishop at Rebuilding Apostolic Mission Church said that he had forgiven the killer after learning that he had shot himself. “I have forgiven the killer. We had news that he wanted to commit suicide by shooting himself but I pray that he doesn’t die before he gets saved,” the bishop told the paper.

However, his wife Miriam Kimani was not too keen on forgiving the killer and wanted ‘justice for her hardworking and visionary daughter.’

“I cannot lie to you that I can forgive him. I want justice for my hardworking and visionary daughter,” said Miriam Kimani, the mother.

A mass will be held for the late Kimani at Happy Valley grounds in Thika before her burial in Gilgil on Friday.

The Nairobi Naivasha SGR Should Be Aligned With Housing Plan to De-congest Nairobi

Now that we are sinking KShs 150 Billion on Nairobi-Naivasha SGR section while not sure about what it will be transporting maybe it is time we discuss how we can salvage something out of the project;
1. I would propose the section be turned into a commuter train with a link to Nakuru and a link to Nairobi CBD.

This section should be electrified with design speeds of 160 km/hr. A similar electrification to be done to Machakos.

This should translate to commuting time of about 40 minutes between Nairobi CBD to Machakos/Naivasha.

2. We should then invest in big housing projects of no less than 100,000 houses around Machakos and Naivasha.

A three bedroom house to sell at no more than KShs 3 million and its rent to be no more than KShs 10,000 per month.

Those paying rent should do so as part of their payment towards eventual ownership. These estates should be built around livelihoods by providing adequate infrastructure for small business.

A 100,000 settlement can create a lot of jobs. It will host about 400,000 people who will need many services translating to thousands of businesses. Adequate business premises should be constructed and charge reasonable rent.

3. This would help de-congest Nairobi, lower cost of living and ensure SGR benefits Kenyans.

Meanwhile I think the Housing Development Fund thing is ill thought out and is probably driven by wicked motives.

According to KNBS total wages in both private and public sector amounted to KShs 1.817 trillion in 2017. A 3% of that is KShs 55 Billion.

This is a lot of money to be collected without a comprehensive plan on how it will be spent and how the contributors will benefit. That is why MPs initially rejected it.

Those who do not benefit from the fund will be repaid their money after 15 years or upon retirement whichever is earlier. Why then force them to save in the first place? Of course if it is not mandatory many would opt out but still makes little sense.

Why should it be that only the employed are to contribute and benefit from the fund? Is it only those with jobs that need affordable housing? The formal sector employs 2.8 million Kenyans while the informal sector employs 14 million Kenyans. The Fund should therefore be open to all Kenyans just like NHIF and NSSF.

This country has a very bad history when it comes to social security funds such as NSSF and NHIF. If the Housing Fund is not well defined it will turn into another slush fund for politicians with all manner of scandals.

Kenyans have been paying for the Railway Development Fund yet not even the Auditor General knows where the money has been disappearing to. The Housing Fund will be a repeat of that if we are not careful.

Supporters Of RAILA ODINGA Before You Lynch Me, Let Us Reason Together, Please!

Supporters of Raila Odinga, I want to remind you that I staunchly supported Raila more than most of you who are purportedly hurling oral stones at my person. Istrongly endorsed his manifesto in 2007 and 2013.

But why are you diametrically opposed to every sense of reasoning? Instead of channelling your youthful energy and talent to productive ventures, you have offered yourselves to be used as weapons for political gains.

Some of you are talented but susceptible youth and have been misinformed, warped and orientated towards hating yourselves while hating others.

But some of us with our sense of reasoning will not rest in our oars to see equity, justice and peace reign in this rich country of poor people.

I respect supporters of Raila Odinga as much as they respect themselves, but sincerely, I have no capacity of tolerance for inadequacy of people who are not reasonable with their judgment.

Supporters of ODM, be careful with your sycophancy. These politicians are tricky and deceptive. They feel happy when you open ourselves as willing tools in their hands for political expediency.

Let these humans not colonise your minds. They know well that you cannot kill an elephant with a pebble stone. They understand well that you cannot stand unmitigated in front of a moving train! I know it is suicidal to fight for justice but it is worth it.

Comrades, it is a waste exercise and energy for folks to engage in a futile exercise that will not be beneficial for them. Remember never to foul a memory you will need when the die is cast!

Let not ethnic bigotry pervade your warped mind. Owe it as a national responsibility to conscientize your leaders and educate yourselves with sincerity of purpose to put our country back in the right tracks.

You see, our collective woes of the nation are embedded in the national cake where everyone is now selfishly struggling and aspiring to eke from its icing. But the same people you are tirelessly defending are the ones preventing you from having a share of that cake.

Let us reason together, please…!

”I have Spoken to Jacque Maribe, She Will Tell Police Everything”- Dennis Itumbi

Let me comment on the issues facing my good friend Jacque Maribe

I have spoken to her and she will obviously tell her story to the police. She will tell her story.

I have not asked for details, those details belong to detectives am sure she will narrate what she knows and is sure about.

From where I sit Jacque fell in love with a guy that connected with her whole being.

Their love did not start with the proposal. It has been a journey of love and affection.

It is a story of genuine love, at least from the eyes of friends.

We all fall in love with strangers and as we grow in the connection we learn each other.

We learn each other strengths and weaknesses, we draw our boundaries, we try to strengthen each other.

If she does not keep time, you teach her with consentual reward and punishment. If he prefers to throw his socks everywhere you develop a way to end the bachelor thrill with a similar scheme, sometimes it works, sometimes it fails…but love remains and grows from challenge to the next.

We know the drill. Love connects a heart to another, it sets on fire a soul to another human flame.

There is nothing wrong about falling in love and expecting excellence to ooze from the star that twinkles for us even when the night is long gone.

Jacque, in my view is the reflection of a girl next door, who is in love. What perfection and satisfaction to feel like you are a part of another being. To have inner wings that you flap in awesomeness because your emotions are on a high only described by a combination of adjectives.

Maybe love is somehow demonstrated by the soft wind that blows as a beautiful flower blossoms right before your eyes, petal after petal stretching its spectacular innocence to embrace the golden rays of the yellow sun. What brightness!

What is wrong with love? Nothing. Loving someone and offering your entire life, body and spirit to them unconditionally, is the highest form of human sacrifice.

Having spoken to her, I am convinced she will tell her story of love to the police in detail. For like you and me we all have our stories, some more intense than even hers.

As friends, we can only pray for her.

May God, Love and Truth be her guide.

To the family of Monica, all I can say, is God strech his hand and comfort you.

I am certain the DCI will provide the answers and whoever committed the crime will certainly face Justice in the fullness of time.
