Drama: Edwin Sifuna Destroys DP Ruto man Hon Khalwale

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Tuesday exchanged unkind words as they argued over political influence in the western region, in a rant that excited many Kenyans.

Dr Khalwale launched the first attack on Mr Sifuna during NTV’s AM Live show, when he referred to the lawyer as ‘a nobody in Kenyan politics’.

“Edwin Sifuna is a nobody in the politics of this country! He is nothing! He has contested in Bungoma, in Kanduyi constituency, and he has not been able to go beyond nominations,” Khalwale said.

SIFUNA’S RESPONSE

But in a swift rejoinder, Mr Sifuna took to his Twitter account, rubbishing Dr Khalwale’s statement and calling him a political slay queen whose aim is just to milk his ‘political sponsor’.

“At the end of the day these FK (Ford Kenya) slay queens know what they must do before the sponsor resumes funding for their lifestyles. Endeleeni kuongea tu @KBonimtetezi. Pesa ni mimi niko nayo,” Mr Sifuna wrote on his Twitter.

The exchange attracted excitement on the social media, as the two sons of Mulembe nation traded insults.

ONLINE VERDICT

In the court of public opinion court, Mr Sifuna appeared to have won against Dr Khalwale, whom many faulted for having changed to become Deputy President William Ruto’s ‘sponsee’.

“Kaa ngumu na hiyo pesa, waende kwa high priest of corruption awapee pesa,” said Alison_James.

“So Bonny Khalwale is now a slayqueen😂😂😂😂😂,” stated Aron Akech.

This quote came to mind when i saw the picture on the right, showing the evolving shape of Ruto’s head that is now tending towards a Rugby ball, the scarcity of hair on it, the poor condition of his skin and generally diminished health. Some say he is grappling with health challenges, but for me, i put it down to stress, depression and frustrated dreams.

Wealth, land, choppers, property and power have been amassed in titanic proportions, but they have failed to afford Ulliam happiness. The picture of on the left, back in the day he was in ODM suggests that he was happier and healthier when he didn’t own so much earthly possessions, and would probably have been better off focusing on happiness rather than the material crap he owns, and the 2022 dream he is busy chasing, that denies him peace and sleep

Save Lake Victoria from hyacinth weed, Governor Sonko tells environmentalists

NAIROBI, 27, November, 2018

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has challenged conservationists to save Lake Victoria from the hyacinth weed that has choked the fresh water lake.

Sonko has said the floating weed which has so far covered 360 hectares of the lake has hampered the movement of people and fishing within Lake Victoria.

Speaking on Tuesday while addressing the sustainable blue economy conference at KICC in Nairobi, the Governor challenged leaders and environmentalists to find a solution to the hyacinth weed menace that has hindered the growth of the Blue Economy within Lake Victoria, which is the second largest fresh water lake in the world.

“It’s not okay that all the environmental experts are unable to find a solution to this menace. We should make a resolution in this conference that we will now allow factors to negatively affect the Blue Economy without concerted effort to address them. We need to find a way to permanently remove this weed. We owe it to our people,” said Sonko in his speech during the conference.

Lake Victoria borders Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, and the Kenyan side is the most affected by this hyacinth weed.

The Governor has meanwhile called to an end on pollution of our oceans, lakes and rivers, terming it a danger to all mankind. But Sonko has hailed the recent ban on the use of plastic bags by the Kenya government saying the decision has drastically reduced the amount of plastics ending up in our rivers, lakes and ocean.

“We must conserve our environment. Ocean, lakes and rivers pollution poses a danger to all mankind. Kenya recently banned the use of plastic bags, most of which ended up in dumpsites and into the water system, he added.

“Our oceans and lakes offer us immense potential for employment, agriculture, tourism, energy, industry and travel. With it, we can end hunger, provide livelihoods and improve our standards of living. It is up to us to harness this potential,” stated the Governor.

The Governor has in the meantime promised that his administration will intensify a campaign to clean up the Nairobi Rivers Ecosystem.

“In the last four months, we have removed hundreds of tons of waste from our rivers, and are now conducting a campaign to sustain the momentum,” he said.

Speaking during the same forum UN-Habitat Executive Director Maimunah Mohd Sharif welcomed the ongoing beautification exercise by the Sonko administration saying the Nairobi City County Government is a great example of how to manage our environment.

On his part, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa also hailed the Nairobi City County Government beautification exercise.

“I want to thank Governor Sonko for making Nairobi City more beautiful than it has ever been,” said Wamalwa.

Ambira boys finally find refuge in a highly profiled lawyer days after their arrest

No one could imagine that the eight boys who gad just completed their KCSE exams could get rescue after they were arrested following their video that went viral on social media.

In the video, the boys were seen abusing interior cabinet secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i and the Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed.

The boys claimed that despite the tight security that had been imposed by Matiag’i, they still managed to cheat in their exams.

Their arrest stirred various reactions from Kenyans, with many accusing the government of reacting swiftly to nab the eight young boys who might have been under a certain influence.

After the cry from the public seeking justice for the eight, the saviour has finally come!

Lawyer Nelson Havi has said him, together with other lawyers have offered to act for the arrested boys. He urged the public to provide him with any information about their parents or guardians so that an action can be taken quickly.

“We have offered to act for the 8 Ambira High School boys. If you know the identities and contacts of their parents or guardians, please notify us ASAP. We cannot have a high handed executive decision to punish children and a more than willing Court assisting in the transgression,” said the lawyer through a post on his official twitter account.

The move by Havi has hence stirred various reactions with many applauding him for the decision. Kenyans on Twitter have also demanded to know the law that was broken by the arrested teenagers.

Court finally grants Jacque Maribe her luxury wish

Barely hours after Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe filed a contempt of court application, arguing that she had not been allowed to access to her house, the Court has finally allowed her to access the home. Is this a sign of her winning the battle?

The journalist claimed that she has had to ‘beg for clothes and accommodation’ since her abode was cordoned off as a crime scene.

In her fresh application filed in court, Ms Maribe wanted Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji and Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to avail the items in just 24 hours, should the court grant her request.

She has reportedly also gone without medication and had to ‘borrow’ a mobile phone. Prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki however said her phone is an exhibit in the case and will be released once it is produced in court.

However,  her vehicle will continue to be held at the police. According to  Ms Mwaniki, the prosecution is still  waiting for a report from the government chemist which is not ready on whether they should release it or use it as an exhibit.

Maribe was arrested on September 29 over allegations that she was linked to the murder of Monica Kimani, a Nairobi businesswoman.

A month later, she was released on Ksh.2million bail after Justice James Wakiaga indicated that there was no indication that she posed a flight risk.

The judge further ruled that the Prosecution did not prove that she would interfere with witnesses.

Her co-accused Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, whom Justice James Wakiaga described as “a male version of a slayqueen” and a “woman eater” is however still in police custody at the Industrial Area Remand Prison after being denied bail.

The Court however directed that he gets medication following the bullet wound on him arm, which he has hence been denied due to a huge debt the Kenya prisons owes Kenyatta National Hospital.

We are however not yet to establish whether he has been offered medication or not.

Former Budalangi Member of Parliament and the current CAS for Foreign Affairs  Ababu Namwamba on Tuesday morning opened a key segment of the ongoing Blue Economy Conference that kicked of on Monday at KICC, Nairobi.

Ababu officially opened the Civil Society Forum in Taifa Hall which is located at the University of Nairobi.

The former legislator was happy with the opening happening at the University he attended.

During the opening, Ababu paid a special tribute to the Nobel prize winner the late Prof Wangari Mathai. Her termed her as a woman who was always a one-woman army and educative.
