Afande Eric Kiraithe appointed Govt Spokesperson. His appointment is the culmination of spirited efforts by a faction of PSCU Directors who have been running a parallel communication structure within the presidency.

Most analysts believe that this cabal of insiders have gotten their way in undercutting Manoah Esipisu with the appointment of Afande Eric Kiraithe. TNA bloggers among them Kirinyaga politician and former journalist Josiah Murigu have been spamming the social media with claims that the agenda and achievements of the Uhuru presidency haven’t been well communicated, sometimes arguing that CORD communication juggernaut has been upstaging Jubilee, and attributing that to manoa.

Its against this backdrop that multiple analysts believe that Kiraithe’s elevation is the culmination of mediocrity prevailing over decency and professionalism. Going into 2017, he will come in handy in explaining certain “hardball” tactics that Jubilee is expected to employ in its quest to hold onto power. Decisions like militarizing police, withdrawing security of CORD allied luminaries/state officers, deploying army officers at polling stations will all require the alacrity of a former police spokesperson.

And more importantly, he is an appointee who, as a Policeman is used to taking orders from above, meaning he is likely to report, as ordered. This is proof that the mafia is taking nothing to chance, and is cordoning itself from a more resurgent opposition, whose voter enthusiasm and ability to overcome all manner of police brutality and state machinery to emerge victorious in Malindi under a very lean budget shocked the mafia insiders.
