Peter Kenneth: Candidate of death in collapsed bid? (Part 2)

So much of what will happen will happen.

It has emerged that as the dalliance gravitating towards courting Peter Kenneth as a possible Kikuyu Candidate after the exit of President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022, social and political commentators from Mount Kenya region have termed it a tall order.

In 2013, Peter Kenneth performed dismally at the 2013 General Elections. He was whitewashed by CORD leader Raila Odinga in his home ground Gatanga, where he is praised by financial development experts as the best CDF manager. Raila garnered more votes than the former two-term MP.

A section of Kenyans reacted with anger after the former presidential candidate made known his 2017 general election plans. Many had viewed Kenneth as an independent minded politician who was fit to shake the status quo.

It’s not a beauty contest but a political race

Pundits say he is a darling in the beauty contest run-way but can make little significance in Kenya’s political landscape majorly controlled by tribal alliances. Jubilee Party has perfected the re-grouping by the merger of brief case parties into a major force to avoid a run-off in the 2017 Elections.

Calls by Nairobi Members of County Assembly (MCAs) for Peter Kenneth to fold up his Kenya National Congress (KNC) Party is seen as a wider Scheme to ensure that he is galvanized and stopped from fielding any candidate in the next polls.

This will give Deputy President William Ruto a chance to inherit a voting bloc of Former Central Province and Rift-valley popular with Kikuyu and Kalenjin voters.

A creation of Sally Kosgey with corruption backlog to clear

Explanations point towards his mixed-race and as a creation by former president Moi’s henchmen. This is owing to a popular social discourse of alleged romantic episodes with the then Head of Civil Service Dr. Sally Kosgei and MP Aldai constituency.

PK’s past life to haunt’s him

To begin with, his conduct at Kenya-Re remains questionable. Workers were retrenched without due process and left with no explanations as he led the selling of Kenya Reinsurance Corporation in 2002. Were it not for a court process, He almost managed to sell it to Monarch Insurance and Zimbabwe Reinsurance Corporation. Opposition MPs protested the move that saved the country’s resources.

And at Kenya Football Federation (KFF), as the Chairman, PK performed in a manner best described by lovers of the game, as ‘dismal performance.’ Soccer in the country remained a burdened sport. No Team qualified for a major tournament or won any championships in his tenure.

PK has a hard task to pull Youthful card since he has been dealing with the old-guard whom he sought business favors. However, going by the recent elections where candidates spend millions of Shillings to clinch positions but lose, the bourgeois KNC party leader is set for a rude shock. Financial muscle is not a determinant factor to sway the ballot his way. As assistant Minister of Finance, and also of Cooperatives, Kenneth only worked with old men whom he elevated into prime positions in parastatal he wielded influence in.

Open Sources reveal that Peter Kenneth was also a beneficiary of the IC3 Security tender that was single-sourced to Safaricom ltd. The CCTV tender worth billions of Shillings of installing and maintenance was valued at about Sh 50 Billion. Peter Kenneth was said to be the intermediary between the Chinese firm supplying the counterfeit camera’s that are seen not to be in work.

In an anthology of misplaced political priorities, the former Gatanga MP announced recently to support President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017, instead run for Governor in an undecided County. His candidature in Nairobi then Presidential bid for Kenya will live Jubilee Party divided and throw the country’s two communities unity into disarray. It is no longer a secret Uasin Gishu Governor Mandago has a declared Kikuyu Support for DP William Ruto is conditional.

Kalenjins expect the Kikuyu to support William Ruto to the last man. For this to happen, Peter Kenneth must completely be out of the equation.

Mount Kenya political machinations seek to have Peter Kenneth as an alternative candidate. PK finished fourth after Uhuru, Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi in the 2013 presidential race.

His efforts to endear himself to the Kikuyu nation seem complicate Jubilee party efforts to consolidate the Kalenjin vote. Kikuyus in the Diaspora_ the ones in Rift-valley feel fearful after the botched ICC cases. Kenya is making efforts to withdraw from ICC under the watch of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, who were key suspects. ICC dismissed the case where he was accused of post-election violence that left over 1300 people dead.

The fresh effort to re-start the ICC cases by Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda makes the DP Ruto, a Uhuru Kenyatta Candidate.

It is clear that Peter Kenneth’s’ Candidature is a farfetched political anthology and machination tailored in a veiled selfish style approach by a tenderpreneur politician.

SEEN AS A TRAITOR – CRITICIZED PRESIDENT WHEN HE NEEDED HIM THE MOST

By Peter Kenneth

The NYS scandal is an eye-opening experience. We are watching a house of cards crumble right in front of our eyes but there is more to the NYS Scandal than just drama. We are being schooled.

We are being taught that we need to make better choices. This is what happens when we choose leaders based ethnicity-they take our country to the cleaners and think they can get away with it.

We are being taught that when power is accountable to the tribe it is the treasury that suffers the most. And when the treasury suffers poverty thrives.

We are seeing how various leaders betray us; we are being shown how little respect our leaders have for our taxes and for us-we must watch and learn.

We are being shown how our leaders convert tribalism into cash-this is what happens when the polls close and the voters go home.

This is possibly just a tip of the iceberg. We probably have no clue about the depth of corruption in government but we certainly know the cost. We see it in our unemployed youth, and in the state of our schools and health facilities.

The scandal is teaching us a lot of things; the question is how long we are going to be in class-the choice is ours.

PRIOR TO UHURU KENYATTA PRESIDENCY

Fought the President, insulted Uhuru more than Kibaki when Uhuru was the opposition leader

Fought Uhuru lieutenants who are now fighting back like former Gatanga MP David Murathe

Led the Central Kenya Crusade to have Uhuru jailed by the ICC, under illusion that he would then become the Central Kenya mouthpiece

When Michuki said whoever needed to talk to Central Kenya after Kibaki must speak to Uhuru Kenyatta, he came out guns blazing castigating both mzee John Michuki and Uhuru Kenyatta and saying Kikuyu is not a monarchy state.

As such, he has failed to earn trust from the Uhuru Camp and to the larger extent Kikuyu nation who believe he is in it for personal gain and to work for the outsiders of Mt. Kenya.
