Mzalendo Trust POLL on Dormant MPs and Senators FAULTED, Mike Sonko among frequent debators

It has now emerged that a lobby group dubbed Mzalendo Trust which is behind the brutal harassment of City hawkers, conducted the shoddy opinion poll to dent the image of some of the most trusted and popular legislatures in the country.

According to the group, flamboyant and outspoken Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko was the lowest ranked Senator in terms of senate contributions and tabling of motions. The opinion poll by the largely unknown group has also compared Sonko to nominated TNA Senator Hosea Onchwangi who has never even made his maiden speech since his wearing in 2013.

However according to the Hansard which captures all recording in the Senate, Sonko was among the top debaters on the floor of the House during debate on the report by the special senate committee on Kenya Airways.

The Hansard also shows that the Nairobi Senator was leading in debate on the impeachment motion against Embu Governor Martin Wambora and also the report by the Senate Public Investments Committee which was probing widespread corruption at City Hall.

Sonko is also ranked among the Senators with most petitions on the floor of the House after he actively tabled petitions to probe former Football Kenya Federation Bos Sam Nyamweya who embezzled funds meant for the nearly aborted trip by Harambee Stars to Cape Verde last year. The Senate clerks at the registry also proved that Sonko recently tabled several motions which include the establishment of rehabilitation centers in the counties, the hawkers’ bill, and establishment of the ombudsman offices in all the counties, among others.

Senator Sonko also stormed Nairobi County Assembly last year and participated in debate on corruption at city for a record of 4 hours. According to Senate standing orders a Senator is allowed to contribute

The survey by Mzalendo Trust comes after the trusted and respected Infotrak pollsters ranked West Pokot Senator Prof John Krop Lonyangapuo as the highest ranked Senator in the country, with an approval rating of 74.5 per cent followed by Sonko whose approval rating was 67.3 per cent, in December 2015.

The Mzalendo trust lobby group is now alleged to be funded by dark forces to fight some MPs and Senators like Sonko to curtail their ambition of seeking positios of governor
