CRISIS: County Governments UNABLE to USE the IFMIS System, Massaive Delays in Payment of Salaries and Suppliers

COUNTIES UNABLE TO USE THE IFMIS SYSTEM

County Governments have been using the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMIS) to go about their financial transactions and one of which is that of salary payments.

In the previous month of July, County workers have not been paid because the IFMIS system has new applications that the Counties are unable to use.

For instance, Nyamira County was unable to upload their budget because the System has new levels that they were not trained on. Other counties that have experienced the same are Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kiambu and Nyeri who equally haven’t paid their workers because of the new system.

The County officials are saying that the National Treasury has a tendency of introducing new applications in the system at the beginning of every financial year that they haven’t trained people on bringing a lot of havoc at the end of the month
