Jubilee Leaders who helped President Uhuru penetrate Luo Nyanza are a disappointed lot as locals continue to taunt them to show what the Jubilee regime has done for the region.
Some of the leaders are carrying the ‘traitor’ tag which has made them and their families be snubbed by a community that takes political betrayal seriously, though not as deadly as others where going against the grain is courting death.
President Uhuru got over 20,000 votes in the traditional Luo Nyanza counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori (excluding Kuria).
In Kisumu, the Jubilee office has been closed as area youths condemn it as unwanted in the area. The office also had rent arrears. All the Kisumu leaders have all but defected to ODM, which has remained resilient ahead of 2017 polls.
The leaders also accuse the Nairobi organs of the party of forgetting them immediately Uhuru took power.
This is such a fatal blow to nominated TNA Senator Joy Gwendo who has vowed to remain in Jubilee despite the tectonic shifts.
However, a day in politics is such a long time Gwendo may change her mind before August next year, but even if she doesn’t, Nyanza has made up its mind.
It is not just Luo Nyanza, in Kuria, over 100 Jubilee leaders have already decamped to ODM, accusing Jubilee of taking their 2013 support for jokes.
