Confussion In Mombasa As Governor JOHO Goes Missing, Spends Over A Month Holidaying In Estonia

The Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan John has sparked controversy after spending over one month vacation overseas. Joho’s prolonged absence has sparked questions over his foreign trips with murmurs are growing loud each passing day.

The Mombasa Governor Joho has been out of the country for over a month now, in what his spokesman says is an official trip to Europe. However, his extended absence in the country has prompted residents to raise questions on how he is managing the county from abroad.

Last week On Friday, Mombasa residents led by Jubilee party activist Abdi Daib demanded that the Governor returns, saying that he left the county on “auto-pilot mode” to go and have fun abroad at the expense of the taxpayer leaving operations of the county paralyzed and in a standstill.

Speaking during a press conference in his office in Tudor in Mombasa town, Daib said they had given the Governor a two-week ultimatum to return failure to which they will go to court to seek his removal.

“He should not think he is indispensable. There are so many Kenyans who can do his work, including me. We cannot watch as Joho has fun outside the country while things get out of hand in the region,” said Daib.

He added that Joho’s ambition to lead Kenya is a pipe dream because he has failed to manage Mombasa’s garbage problem and the diseases outbreak.

“The county is dirty. Diseases like chikungunya have affected almost all residents yet you harbour ambitions to be President? My friend, we will not allow you to spread chikungunya to other parts of the country. We will not allow you to mismanage the nation,” said Abdi.

Mombasa MCAs also alleged the governor’s absence has had negative impact and given rise to chaos in his administration with escalating factional fights including the one recently witnessed over the transfer of sub county or ward administrators.

“There is a good team to drive the county’s development agenda in his absence but it is common knowledge that in his absence some things cannot move,” Kipevu MCA Faith Pendo said.

The county administration led by Deputy Governor William Kingi and Spokesman Richard Chacha have however insisted there is no vacuum and dismissed the critics as attention seekers looking for cheap publicity.
