Nation ‘TOP VEGETABLE’ compares Dennis Galava to bank robber

Nation CEO Joe Muganda in a radio talk show compared their suspended journalist Dennis Galava to a ‘bank robber’ in a clear sign that he (Galava) may not stay at the Nation any longer. Mute on the happenings, which has shocked the industry, is both the Editor’s Guild and Kenya Union of Journalists. Also silent is Media Council of Kenya.

Listen to Joe Muganda:

At the same time, PR guru Washington Akumu, who has also been an editor at the Nation, weighed in on the ongoing saga.

Not a good week in the worlds of Strategic Communication and Journalism and beyond. Kosa imefanyika. First, a leader writer, a fine hack and former colleague Denis Galava is outed. As a former leader writer, it makes me afraid, very afraid. It is simply not a done thing, and I can't think of any precedence. The facts of this case notwithstanding (and I am sparse on detail, I admit), the reality is that what could have been dealt with internally with total "radio silence" has been turned into a public spectacle, a farce. Curiously, NMG seems to have a wobbly script on this issue, at least judging by the apparent dissonance in the narratives coming from the CEO, former aleman Joe Mugz and my former boss Tom "Abramovich" Mshindi. Crisis Comm 101: One spokesperson, one message. And don't give an interview in a language you are not comfortable with. Brand love is at stake. Perhaps unrelated, the week ends with blood on the carpet at Twin Towers: a number of former colleagues, some of them really talented individuals, have had their roles "walk away from them," to borrow from a certain hack, who used to write some of the best memos in this town (I digress). It gets worse. If some media reports are to be believed, Pombe Magufuli has started a pogrom against fellow East Africans down South. What a week! ‪#‎Mnishukishe‬ hapo Koroboi
