The moral spinal cord of a liberal democracy is that there be political competition by two or more parties and that there be the governing party and the opposition. Kenya undermines this central tenet and wants to destroy it. Jubilee seems to be inducing members of opposition to defect and some have been seen with brown envelopes.
Governors elected in either Jubilee or CORD are launching own political parties. Democratic morality demands that one must remain faithful to the party that elected him and if by own free will you no longer share its ideals, you resign and go for re-election. If we cannot be faithful to political parties we have life membership, how can we trust you with anything else? It is only charlatans and prostitutes who change positions midstream for a fee!
Secondly, a strong liberal democracy is only developed by a benevolent dictatorship. As espoused by Maximilien Robespierre, Niccolò Machiavelli, Voltaire and other doyen of political thought, a strong nation is built by a Prince who is feared more than loved.
A Benevolent Dictator is charismatic, has the adoration of the people , has a clear road map of where to take the country in the shortest time possible and doesn’t allow political immorality. Lee Kew Yuan, Mahathir Mohamad, Vladimir Putin, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Thomas Sankara and Paul Kagame are notable examples.
For Kenya to be industrialized, we must accept a liberal democracy under a benevolent dictator. The President, the Chief Justice and the Speakers of Parliament lead separate institutions, but the President is the primus inter pares rei gerundae causa! The time is now.
