The Deputy Governor of Kisii County Joash Maangi who yesterday led a delegation to Deputy President William Ruto’s Sugoi home this morning faced hostility during a funeral service in his home area when residents demanded he explains reports that he was given money by the Deputy President to ‘sell’ the community to Jubilee.
Yesterday, several Gusii leaders snubbed the event with MP Timothy Bosire terming it ”primitive”. However, Kisii Governor James Ongwae, who also did not attend, revealed he ‘sent’ the governor was doing PR just salvage his personal friendship with the Deputy President.
DG Maangi, a burly man with conspicuous features of corruption, has however maintained the visit to Ruto home discussed ‘development matters’ beneficial to the Gusii. His host, the Deputy President, has dismissed those criticising him for hosting delegations to his home.
“A good leader has a responsibility to inform the people about the disastrous consequences of ethnicity. No leader criminalises a meeting seeking ways to unite the country,” he posted on his Facebook page.
Today, it is the turn of Luhyas which were seen arriving in the DP’s Sugoi home in buses.
