CORD’s political insurgency threat against the Jubilee Government is not imaginary; it is real and present!

I have been watching the political trends in the country, especially the attacks on Government by CORD and the reactions of the Government. To gain a foothold after an initial substantive loss of ground, CORD is now engaged in dilemma action type of political tactics that places the Government in a situation where any response made will result in a negative outcome for the Government.

Dilemma actions being rolled out by CORD are tactical in nature and are based on emerging topical issues that are meaningful to the public and around which ordinary Kenyans will easily rally. The actions are viewed by the public as the necessary response to the most pressing and immediate problems that people are facing, and which arise due to direct or indirect actions or inactions by the Government.

Government response, in my view, has not demonstrated tact, speed and coordination. It has not demonstrated the required offensive attack against a real and present threat; but rather an an uncoordinated, slow and belated reactive approach against an imaginary threat.

CORD actions are designed to create a “lose-lose” framework for the Government, and a “win-win” framework for CORD, irrespective of Government’s response. Through political insurgency, political subversion, political guerrilla warfare and psychological warfare, CORD is steadily tilting the balance against the Government. The threat is not imaginary. It is real and present. The long term goal is to completely decapitate the Government through attrition.

It is my considered opinion that the Government will have to up its game if it is intent at winning this war in the short and long run. To regain a foothold, the Government must appreciate that it’s methods will not work unless it’s team is conditioned to the reality that it is facing an enveloping political guerrilla warfare that requires well thought out and meticulously implemented counter-guerrilla tactics. The Government strategy should be to preempt the actions and disrupt the organizational structure of the CORD insurgents, and decapitate its vanguard through continuous but well choreographed offensive actions.
