Death snatches Kenyan aristocrat whom justice could not reach – Cholmondeley

Thomas (Tom) Cholmondeley, the Kenyan aristocrat of British descent who shot and killed two poor neighbours – at will – has died. Cholmondeley, 48, was the son of colonial land grabber ‘Lord Delamere’; who annexed swathes of acres in Nakuru County, displacing poor Africans in the early years of Kenya under the British monarchy.

He died after a surgery to replace one of his hips went south, prompting a journalist who covered his murder trial to quip: ‘unbelievable!’

While he was acquitted of murder in the both cases, he was found guilty in the last murder and sentenced to 8 months. He served three months and was quietly released.
