”We are AGAINST Controlled Clan Politics, will Undermine Youth”- Northern Kenya Young Leaders Warn Elders

Youth from the Northern Frontier region formally North Eastern Province have urged Mandera elders to stop dictating on who to be elected in the new found rotational leadership among clans in the county.

The emerging leadership in the region of mainly the youth have said the agreements among clan elders is skewed towards the rich and elderly as thus denying the youth a fair shot on leadership.

“We want the contest to be open to all and be fair, let the clan elders educate voters against clanism and instead emphasize on quality leadership, we cannnot have elders nominating the rich, old and incompetent for a turn to eat as we the youth watch” – Hon Abduljabaar Moh’d the incoming MCA for wagalla-Ganyure ward.

The youthful Abduljabaar was accompanied by several youth opinion leaders including former University Student leaders from the region.

The leaders also asked the electorate to welcome all political aspirants and interrogate their vision instead of waiting for clan elders to give direction. “I urge you to welcome everyone,honour every leader’s opinion, let us not abuse our opponents,attack their persons, respond any insult they hurl on us. In the end our maturity on how we present to you would guide you”- Abduljabaar added

The youth thanked Raila Odinga for being steadfast in strengthening devolution.
