WHY KTN’s Jeff Koinange Live FAILED Lawyer Donald Kipkorir, the SHOW is FLAT, full of PETTY ‘SHOUTING’

I agree with Donald B Kipkorir on one thing: Jeff Koinange Live is not the place for the ‘intellectual-historian’. I don’t want to say Kipkorir is an ‘intellectual-historian’.

The failure of the Kenyan media ‘shows’ to specialize has made some journalists become jacks of all trades. And in the age of ‘ratings’, the more scandalous people you bring on your show, the better for you. When you bring a sober person; or one who wants to engage in a debate without name-calling or mudsling or insults, your ratings tumble.
One more thing has destroyed Kenyan political TV: Jubilee.

Jubilee regime supporters are some of the most closed-minded people on earth. For them, so long as you support them, you are a hero. So today, some of the most ‘respected’ TV pundits are vagrants like David Matsanga. The shallower you are; the more rumbustious you are, the huge ‘fan base’ you got and the more significant you are for ‘ratings’.

Kipkorir, like Raila with Eurobond, are victims of Kenya’s new journalism: sensationalism. If what is coming out of your mouth cannot ‘excite’, then all you are doing on TV cab be reduced to a ‘fart’. Moses Kuria calls it ”all fart and no shit”.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the age of ‘fart and shit’ journalism. But, if all we have as media debates (shows) is fart and shit, we can still fail.

One of my points of departure with my party leader is his unquestioning belief in the mainstream media, both print and broadcast. Katz & Lazarsfeld did not live to see Mark Zuckerberg dismiss their ‘hypodermic needle’ theory.
